  1. Because of the X-23 movie "rumor" and X-Men: Apocalypse post-credit scene, Wolverine #80 is gaining traction:

thats a garbage book, nyx 3 is the book to own.

Its the X-men 201 argument. It will hold a value. It will be around a $20 book for awhile maybe even bump a little higher as NYX 3 keeps climbing.

I am not sure this is a Retcon. To date I have not heard a definitive answer concerning this comic and if Marvel has ever explained. I have a vague memory of Wizard discussing the book but beyond that who knows. People like to discount the importance of this comic and yes no one should ever try and sell it as the first appearance of X-23 but it sure seems like a key book to me. (shrug)

As far as Earp, it's on the wrong channel. Put it on AMC and see what happens.

...except if a person actually read Wolverine 80 and is familiar with Laura's actual origin (of her creation) , they would know that the "X-23" on that test tube is just a coincidence and has nothing to do with her. (shrug)

    -J.

But if I read my comics I won't be able to put "In Mylar NEVER TOUCHED BY HUMAN HANDS" in my eBay listing.

  2. I don't see any difference between a store selling them for whatever he wants. If you don't want one .... Don't buy it. Why do you think you should tell him what they are worth. Let the market decide if he can sell 150 for $40 or 1500 for $4

Exactly. So how is it "heating up" here?? It's him trying to sell copies at $40-45 which is what they set the price as. The store that has the exclusive store made that price because it is there variant. Is Batman #51 heating up because copies are selling for 100% asking price at $4?

  3. They weren't there last week. They are now and they're selling well.
How can something be heating up at $45 when the store owner is the one charging $45 or whatever the price is??

But that's the store who made the variants asking price. That isn't heating up. That is overcharging for a cover and then saying it's a great deal to buy them for one of the two people who have them in stock.

A store variant heating up would be when Phantom/Larry sold Wayward #1 B&W for cover price and they were $40-50 on eBay.

  4. Taco moved to Seattle. ?

    Yeah dude!

I've met you before. I probably bought stuff from you too. I bought a lot from Carl and Tim. I actually moved to Seattle about 9 months ago though.

No wonder I've been finding good books at Fat Jack's over the last several months

Hah yeah. I no longer live at 21st and Chestnut. A few thousand miles away. Are they still restocking Batman #3-11 1st prints?

  5. Philadelphia dealers > rest of the country

http://www.philadelphiacomic-con.com/ He sets up at this.

The last time I set up at that show was about a year and a half ago.....

I went there last month.Didn't find all that much...got a run of Boys #1-10 for a quarter a piece, though.

I live 30 minutes away, so it's usually worth the trip.

I'll be there next month, just walking the room. You should introduce yourself, if you see me. :baiting:

  6. heres an obscure book you dont get to see too often:

    Tommy cereal killer 1

The one to get is the Hidden Pants Down variant.. which borrows subliminal treats from Alf 48

They were at ECCC with a stack of every cover. I don't see this lasting long.

There were only 100 of the pants down variant.. It looks very similar to the Trix variant except for...

Well except for a minor detail

The covers just remind me too much of the Ron English cereal figures he came out with before. They box says the same stuff as these covers about diabetes and heart disease.

  7. 2016-04-10_zpskvsortf4.jpg

This was ECCC. I could have taken dozens of pictures like this. One dealer had every book priced except for Walking Dead #100 2nd print, so I asked how much. $199. I asked how much he was buying them for because I'll run to my apartment and sell him 20 copies right now. Teen Titans #2 - $300, Batman Harley Quinn - $450, Preacher - $500. All raw copies...

  8. i get a person can price their books at whatever they want... but its kind annoying when someone goes 15-20 under what market is currently just to move them fast... kills all of the heat on the book... buyers see that the book has dropped in value in a week so why not wait to see if someone sells them another 5-10 less in a couple days... the Boba colors held their 60+ value for a long while because no one sold them for less than that... not even JTC at cons... and now the b/w market is dead... just wish sellers had more common sense... guess i will be slabbing mine now...

Well no one knew about the color versions. And when they did everyone was like I will order one for PC and maybe one to sell because they were skeptical with a $20 comic. No one held back on the B&W because they knew it was guaranteed profit. Double your money and move on.

This is why I just bought one B&W for my PC.

Yeah. It's amazing how people complain. Sellers are doubling their money in less than a week on like 22 pages of a modern Marvel title that will be rebooted and redone again. Star Wars #10 is going to be inverted or whatever they did with the ASM #4 JSC Conquest Comics variant.

  9. i get a person can price their books at whatever they want... but its kind annoying when someone goes 15-20 under what market is currently just to move them fast... kills all of the heat on the book... buyers see that the book has dropped in value in a week so why not wait to see if someone sells them another 5-10 less in a couple days... the Boba colors held their 60+ value for a long while because no one sold them for less than that... not even JTC at cons... and now the b/w market is dead... just wish sellers had more common sense... guess i will be slabbing mine now...

  10. how many of your 200 were 9.8s

I didn't even order 200. I haven't said 200 anywhere. I don't know where he got that number. But less than 10% were VF/NM. 90% were NM with most being 9.6/9.8. I graded a lot of the color version and the quality has been better with these.

I do think the shipping was much better this time even though people are getting damages. Last time I had no cardboard. It was 50+ copies in a medium flat rate box with wrapping paper on two sides, so they didn't slide around. This time every 7-8 were put between 2 pieces of cardboard and put in bubble wrap (even though it wasn't taped) and wrapping paper added everywhere it could move.

  11. Now you can all underprice each other by a penny on eBay.

    GO!

baconcakebooks messaged me on eBay yesterday:

"Did you really get 200 of these? Also, did you feel it necessary to undercut everyone with them?

    Thanks!"

I didn't do pre-sales on eBay. As soon as I had the copies in hand (very early Saturday) I sold them at $49.99 on eBay (I think the lowest at the time was $55 OBO pre-sale). So I told him I had them in hand and I set the price and I look at his newly listed items... One copy for $49.95. insufficiently_thoughtful_person. He runs a speculator group too.
