  1. I just looked at Ebay there are a bunch of them for less than 10$. Good ole Lonzilla likes to make his goals achievable. Chamber Of Chills #19 from Harvey. Not Marvel. Jeez http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHAMBER-OF-CHILLS-19-CLASSIC-SKELETON-COVER-PRE-CODE-HORROR-HARVEY-MISFITS-NR-/291974993429?hash=item43fb10d615:g:aIcAAOSw6DtYVZzX
  2. Chamber Of Chills #19. Same goal as last year and the year before that, and the year before that...
  3. That must be it.. Last year couldnt even give these away, theyre $10 a pop in NM now: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Comics/63/i.html?LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_from=R40&_nkw=Francis+Brother+Of+the+Universe+%231&_sop=13 Same thing. That books is now 37 years old and we tend to forget that. That book is now the midpoint between now and the Battle of Stalingrad. - Bah, the dreaded triple drek. The only way to counteract it's affects is with a great artist such as Liefeld or the likes. Well, the cover does have a lack of feet
  4. Detective 850 over the last few days is staying steady. I'm still finding them at cover or slightly above cover at shops. Sure it will be a wall book in a month once they figure it out http://www.ebay.com/sch/Comics/63/i.html?_from=R40&_sop=1&_nkw=detective%20850&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684
  5. That's him! Some of his older tract comics go for crazy money http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=chick+tract&_sop=16
  6. 90 day GPA average: $6233 Better than one of your biotech stocks no? Better than most, but not better than all of them. And not better than a bunch of them when taking into consideration the scale of the investment that is possible. You just couldn't make that same return on investment by trying to buy and sell tens of thousands of dollars of Hero For Hire #1s in cgc 9.6. Right figured a 6+ bagger is not too shabby for the most part You have a good point also on the supply side with respect to liquidity. The only slabs I can think of off hand that have the population and "daily" ability to make a market in for multiple buyers without tanking the price would be an ASM 300 or NM 98. So in regards to the topic of this thread can I get some adivce? I am looking at buying an ASM #300 in 9.6. I can get a CGC 9.6 White off white for $375 or I can get a CBCS 9.6 White pages for $450. Down the road long term which will I be happier with when I try to move it? CGC one. Duh
  7. ? Now THAT is funny. For those curious about the actual history of things, and not just what people want to believe are real, the Wizard list was very much like what you see today. All based upon someone trying to make money off of comics, the truth be damned. In fact, thanks to early Image's horribly late printing schedule, there were times a book would appear in Wizards Top Ten hottest comics, when in actuality that book hadn't even been released yet. Publisher's PAID them to have their books promoted. It was probably the most gratuitous example of taking advantage of consumers' greed and stupidity to feed a publishers greed that I've seen in the history of comics. And it led to the market shrinking down to it's worst numbers ever. To think for even one moment, that Wizard Magazine's intentions were pure or honorable, is completely blind. They saw an opportunity to take advantage of the marketplace and they did so with cunning and precision, and unfortunately with a carless regard for how it would impact the industry and the hobby. This is why people see flippers as bad for the hobby. It undermines the essence of what comics should be about - the writing and the art, and instead turns it into a product, a commodity; something to be bought low and sold high for the sake of money. I remember when Valiant prices exploded virtually overnight back then and the Wizard price guide / hot list was showing "values" of these books (which most people had never heard of) "going for" more than some Silver Age keys. Every other paid ad in Wizard was from valiant or Image. Didn't take a genius to add 2+2
  8. I think the Crusaders books have some potential... great covers, good production value, wonky distribution with some scarcity, controversial content, etc. But for the moment, I think there's no market awareness (see previous post!) so nothing to trigger a price increase. I've been collecting the Chick Crusaders books for a while and the Chick tracts as well. Great stuff!
  9. Yet this one went unsold a few times with an opening bid of $59.99. Go figure http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALL-STAR-SQUADRON-37-CGC-9-8-WP-SUPERMAN-VS-SHAZAM-WONDER-WOMAN-VS-MARY-MARVEL-/371819179155?hash=item5692266c93:g:XmQAAOSw9NdXp5S8
  10. Guardians Of The Galaxy 2008 series #24 and #25. I've found a 24 only once and never saw a 25 in any shop
  11. I'm surprised that uncanny x force run doesn't get more pub or value. Were print runs really high? It was the cat's meow for quite awhile. Then it just started to lose ground. I had no issues selling 1-6 as singles for quite awhile. It was a good read, but the re-launch didn't have the same group and didn't catch on. That series has everything going for it, covers art is great, writing too, Deadpool and a few of the early issues are kind of tough to find. Issue 4 was a huge deal at the time! When Fantomex shoots Kid Apocalypse in the head, it was like the anti-Secret Wars II where nobody wanted to pull the trigger and kill Baby Beyonder
  12. Diamond could have easily pulled them. I'll make my usual rounds on Tues and Wed and see what's out there. Tues evening I'll go to some shops that always have the new books on the shelf with 'Not for sale until Wed" signs up. I'll report
  13. Yeah, just looked and I'm shocked a little by the prices. Super loyal fans. Close to 2000 copies of #1 in CGC 9.8. Still, more collectors than books even at that number. Probably one of the more deserving books imo. It's weird and sometimes, too weird but it has tons of potential and is always interesting. You think Seven to Eternity is driving it ? IDK, I'm just wondering why the recent uptick. Especially in a time of the year when selling prices are typically not up. Raws were $100-125 beginning of the year if I remember correctly. I'm just thinking maybe people are saying Seven has some staying power and looking back at Saga. I don't have long term faith in Remender. Great writer, but has he done more than 30 issues on a series? Saga is on 40+ with the original team, correct? Does that happen anymore? Not much. East of West is my personal fave and it has taken 3 and a half years to get to number 30 (coming out next week ) and Revival made it to the late 40's but not many others. Saga is definitely something special. Black Science is pushing 30. Well, there you go. Fear Agent looks like it went for 32 issues and brings decent money for a set...or did... Fear Agent 1-32 Nailbiter is closing in on 30 as well and hasn't lost any steam quality wise
  14. Tuesday or Wednesday we'll know when a certain retailer claims to have half a case of the "only" case that got out http://www.bleedingcool.com/2016/12/23/misprinted-saga-41-will-ship-to-some-stores-image-asks-retailers-to-destroy-them/ I like the error version! I have a cgc 9.8 subscription . Wonder if my guy can get me both versions Is there any news on when the next hardcover is coming out ? Sdcc 2017? Well, here's one guy who isn't destroying or returning any copies. $10 doesn't sound like a bad price for a recall of a popular title http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAGA-41-ERROR-EDITION-RARE-TRUE-1st-PRINT-BRIAN-K-VAUGHN-STAPLES-IMAGE-/322368304358?hash=item4b0ea5f4e6:g:N9EAAOSwJ7RYXDTA

  16. why do so many people get confused, (or in past cases extremely butt hurt) in this thread, whenever an actual discussion occurs. It is not the "books for cheerleading thread" If the thread is called, "books that are heating up", then people should discuss whether or not a book is heating up or not. When so many people post books which are clearly NOT heating up, but which they either want to heat up, or others have told them are going to heat up, they should not be surprised, or shocked, or offended, that people might actually question saying: "are you sure thats heating up?" "here are some sales that seem to point otherwise". Ultimately, its either a dont ask dont tell thread, where people only cheerlead for books to go up up and away, or its a discussion thread about what is heating up, and that involves both sides of the discussion, for the books that are mentioned. Lastly, i wasnt scrutinizing the book, though legitimately curious WHY it was brought up in this thread (where it clearly does not belong). If you don't want to respond to my posts, don't. Please don't edit my posts down to the point of using them as a launchpad for your next monologue. Thanks in advance. Chopping someone's post up like that and then using to make some "insightful" observation is just plain lame . As a clarification on internet rules: if someone makes multiple points in a post, how does someone responding know which points they're allowed to respond to? Yes, how would we? If there were only some type of text editing controls. Detective #850 http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_sop=1&_nkw=detective%20comics%20850&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&rt=nc&_trksid=p2045573.m1684 Surprised the fan club hasn't jumped on this one yet. Sorry but credit goes to CBSI on this one. Didn't see it, was looking up Gotham City Sirens books on ebay a few days ago and saw it and quickly listed a few. Now the quick price bump makes more sense
  17. Those have sold pretty well for a little while now. The movie news may bump it a bit more but not sure how much. They've been pretty hard to find cheap in the wild for a good bit, especially the Harley one, and those white covers make em extra tough in even a raw 9.4. Usually when I see them they're covered in ink rubs and stacking marks

  19. VERY nice but the Dell'Otto and Manara ones are <3 <3 <3
  20. It really sucks too, wish I knew what the problem was. That was a lot of fun a few years ago with the TPB Lon. Sure was! I think Todd is like a great band that split up but one of the members promotes it as if they're still together and working on a new album. Been there
  21. It's time to put Todd the Ugliest Kid On Earth on the cooling / dead as a door nail list though nobody is dropping their slab prices down yet. Raw copies of #1 are way way down to the $10 range. If you're reading this Ken, it's been 3 years and I have given up on Todd ever coming back. Sorry man
  22. Since when did buying variants and making sense ever belong in the same sentence? I'll be looking for them when the shops open for a quick flip I agree it has quick flip potential I just don't think the $90-$100 sales from the same buyer are legit. Good luck tomorrow. Thanx, and no it definitely shouldn't be in the $100 range but Checchetto is the name of the month on another site so people are either A) buying into it or B) shilling it to prove their prediction skills. Either way if I find one for $20 or less tomorrow, I'll eat better this week So no chance at a C) Collectors are realizing how talented he is? I agree, speculators are turning onto him right now, but that usually only happens when at least some demand is there. -J. I They look nice but I'm not blown away by them. Avenging Spider-man #6 variant is probably my favorite of his I agree. The Gamora I'm keen to pick up. I think his Superior Carnage #1 from a few years ago is his best so far. The attention it's getting now (along with the artist) is justified. Eventually people are going to want to talk about and buy more than just the same three cover guys. I think Checchetto and Opena will be players in 2017. -J. Opena is long overdue, I grabbed his Infinity 1:50 character variant set when they came out, I just love those covers
