  1. Seems to be a relatively slow night, so thought I would have a minor . TO: Sellers in the forum marketplace quoting years old OSPG values in your threads (e.g., "2009 Overstreet is $XX"). Please...if you're selling books and you choose to provide OSPG as your reference point, at least get the current edition - I just picked up my 43rd edition on Amazon for about $20 - took 2 days to get it - not hard. If the thinking is that by using old guide prices you're doing buyers a favor, not a given - guide prices go down, too.
  2. Found it in a 7/6 A. Romeo post: (excerpted from a more comprehensive timeline) So, looks like the refund offer was made on 6/26, thus starting the 30-day clock; so, nomination can commence on 7/26....hey, that's tomorrow! Sound right?
  3. Nice...I like it! That's some progress, right there...so, we need to figure out the date when he verbally committed to a refund...
  4. Now, having stated the technical case in my post just above, it is true that we would all be better off if zombizzy was immediately placed on the PL...so, someone try to find a loophole in my logic...
  5. That's not the way I remember it...there were no conditions/assumptions attached to A. Romeo's removal of zombizzy, much to many of our chagrin; A.Romeo started getting frustrated with the whole scenario and the advice he was receiving from the thread and basically said " it, take him off " (with an implicit " you" to many of the boardies who were commenting on the situation) : Then, based on discussion of the fact that the OP's request to remove was enough per the rules, Speedy-D removed zombizzy (correctly, based on the rules, IMHO): At that moment, zombizzy was off the PL, contingency free, I believe. I agree with Speedy-D (and others) that A.Romeo should have waited until he actually received his refund before removal, but he didn't. Now, zombizzy has reneged on another transaction, i.e., the offer to send a PayPal payment on 7/23. So, I think the 30 day clock starts over for that transaction...so, A. Romeo can nominate zombizzy to the PL on August 23rd. That extra waiting time is A. Romeo's cost for premature PL removal...we tried to warn him. My
  6. Hold the presses! Looks like the listing just went 'poof' sometime in the last few minutes.
  7. It's simply astonishing that this listing is still active (now with a $13,100 leading bid), and reminds me of why I often consider a full-on personal boycott of eBay...not because of the fact that these scammer sellers exist (which is sort of a given in any environment), but because of eBay's incredible lack of responsiveness to such clear and overwhelming dooshbaggery. Reminds me of a buying experience I had with a fraudulent eBay seller who shipped an empty envelope (for a 4 figure ASM purchase) to someone else's address in my same zip code. I can't tell you how many conversations I had to have with how many different people at eBay before I could penetrate someone's skull that, just because the seller shipped something to somewhere in my zip code and provided a UPS tracking number in the eBay system, it didn't mean that the book I bought was actually shipped to my address...It was hell to make them understand this, even after giving them the evidence from the UPS system that the package associated with the tracking number at issue was in fact mailed to some address that had nothing to do with me, but in my same zip code....unbelievable (story had a happy ending, though)
  8. Just bought a stack of SA Fantastic Four books from Scott. Accurate grading, great prices, and an insanely awesome packing job! Kudos (thumbs u
  9. Just received a Weird Science #10 CGC 7.5 from Dan - great transaction all the way around - will definitely buy from again!
  10. Just received a Weird Fantasy #9 CGC 7.0 from Don, shipped across the Atlantic - just an awesome transaction all the way around. Don is bringing awesome books to the table for great prices, and shipping them bomb-proof around the world. Great addition to the boards - glad to have him here!
  11. Recently purchased a Shock SuspenStories #6 from Michael - talk about bomb-proof shipping...this book was encased in a darn-near chain saw-proof enclosure. Just awesome - perfect transaction all the way around - great communication. Will certainly buy from Michael again!
  12. +1...Well said. Since I found these boards 5 months ago, I would say I've done 95% of my comic buying and 100% of my comic selling here...my only regret is that I didn't find these boards sooner!
  13. Yeah, that's right.... OK...now that I'm getting coffee into my system, I suppose I can see that the costs of deleting the "old" sales threads outweigh the benefits - suppose we'll just have to deal with the occasional resurrection...
  14. dont know that its actually deleted from the forum cause you can get to it thru a googled search no problem. The forum just seems to have an 80 page display limit for the forum, so the rest of the data is there, just you have to go in thru a different door to get to it... Ahhhh...that makes sense...an 80 page display limit. So, question now is...why don't the mods delete sales threads after they have been inactive for, say, 6 months?
  15. I guess that's indeed what I was trying to understand, just for the sake of curiosity...are they deleted? If so, how could this one have been resurrected? If not, why not?
  16. How is it possible that THIS thread just got resurrected? Before xelorknox brought this back to life today, the last post in the thread was in October '12. The last sales thread listed in the G/S/B sales forum has a January '13 date (on page 80!), so obviously there is mod deletion of inactive threads. Assuming that as of yesterday this thread no longer appeared in the G/S/B thread list, where could xelorknox have found it (in some cache somewhere?), and having found it, how could it come back to life if it had been deleted from the forum? Does this reveal a system glitch?
  17. Recently sold Karl a raw Planet 38 - was my first sale to a Canadian boardie, and the entire transaction was smooooth.....instant payment, great communication! Thanks, Karl!
  18. Yes. That's my understanding of the rules, as well.
  19. Recently sold Iani98 a raw silver age Avengers book - smooth transaction, fast payment, great communication - promptly let me know that the book was received, which I appreciate! WTTB!
  20. Jeremy just purchased a nice stack of Jumbos and a Planet from me - smooooooth transaction - rapid payment, great communication - very promptly let me know when he received the books, which I greatly appreciate. Look forward to more deals in the future! (thumbs u
  21. This is indeed disturbing. May be too early to call it a trend, but I've noticed an increasing number of raw listings where a seller seems to be asking more than the value of a book in its current grade because of pressing potential (for example, a seller might list a book as a 7.0 and point out that it could probably press higher, and then post a BIN price as if it's a 7.5'ish). If you think about human nature, this would almost have been a predictable consequence of the introduction of pressing into the marketplace - it's a shame - I really hope that the majority of us comic collectors resist this nonsense so that it doesn't become the norm...
  22. Stan just purchased a few SA Avengers books from me - flawless, smooth transaction all the way around...instant payment and great communication - hope to do more deals in the future!
  23. Just received a sweet, sweet FF #19 slab from Collin - the deal was an all-around great experience - looking forward to more deals in the future! (thumbs u
