  1. Here are a couple of interesting Atlas books I've recently picked up from boardies...these form the foundation of my new "Guys named Edward/Eddie/Ed" cover theme Better show the back cover on this one
  2. Just purchased and received another awesome stack of EC slabs from Don, shipped lightning fast across the Atlantic...as is the norm when dealing with Don, I'm ecstatic...Don is the man.
  3. I tend to agree. Let me point out the similarity between this situation and the situation back in August when manicnerd wanted to nominate someone to the PL for not shipping an item from the PIF thread (this post will get you back in the vicinity of that discussion: CLICK ) . There was a heated debate about whether that situation would qualify for the PL, based on technical definitions of the word "transaction", etc. There was so much flak, manicnerd wound up dropping the whole PL nomination idea. So, if jop gets nominated, let's just remember it the next time someone wants to nominate someone from the PIF context...we need to have consistency. Perhaps we need to revisit the discussion of setting up separate PL "sub-sections" or something for failure to deliver on things like PIF/Secret Santa/raffle situations...there seemingly wasn't enough push to see it through to implementation during the last discussion.
  4. Just picked up a copy of POP from Steve, and everything was smooth sailing - awesome transaction all the way around - solid, fast shipping and great communication!
  5. This is indeed out of hand. What is to be accomplished by having more boardies come in and post their thoughts on the subject? Moreover, what is going to be accomplished by the present minority continuing on and on with this here in the marketplace general discussion forum? This doesn't need to be tried in the court of public opinion. There doesn't need to be a vote on the matter among other boardies. The parties who feel so strongly threatened or offended should present their case to Arch/the mods that Rupp has violated the forum guidelines (Rule 6a) with respect to threatening/harassing/abusive material, and he can present his defense. Why continue discussing this here? Continuing on, and on, and on here like this doesn't seem to be "handling" anything.
  6. Just went through my pile from Andy's recent thread as well - awesome - very happy with the grading, packaging, communication...the whole deal. KUDOS!
  7. I hear you...I'm pretty much a straight up collector...when I sell stuff, it's either because I've upgraded, or I've decided to no longer collect something...so, I tend to fall more on the "board flipping is annoying" side of things. However, I've seen the debates about this on here before, and I understand both sides of the argument. Also, I've come to understand that it's just part of the current landscape. edited this in from a post below, and deleted the post below (just to preserve coherency):
  8. I love this place as it is now. From what I hear about the "old days," sounds like I would have been in sheer ecstasy back then. Too bad I missed it.
  9. RedRocks. Indeed, there was a big difference in the number of zeroes. Also, my buyer never made any untrue statements.
  10. Sounds like a RedRocks situation. Not even in the same neighborhood as RedRocks. From what I remember of the RedRocks situation, RedRocks had a warm, fuzzy story about how he wanted the book for his grandchildren, etc. The buyer in my tale offered no story behind the "deal" request...there was no misrepresentation whatsoever. After the fact, looks like he wanted the "deal" so that he could earn higher profit margin on the flip...but he never indicated any intent to the contrary...fair enough. Way, way, way different than RedRocks - incomparable, actually.
  11. Correct...not you Pat. (thumbs u Anyway, I wasn't trying to make an issue of that incident, or "indict" the person...just offering another example, and lesson learned.
  12. It's apparently not unusual. Three months ago or so, I ran a big sales thread here, during which a veteran Boardie (who will remain nameless) PM'd me about some raw books that had been listed in my thread for an hour or so, asking for a discount on the stack (5 or 6 books). In the spirit of giving him a good deal, I thought...sure, why not...and I actually sold him the books in that "deal" at a loss...no big issue. Within a relatively short time (say 60 to 90 days or so), I watched that Boardie list those same raw books within his own sales thread upgraded at least a full grade point, which he then sold for more than my original (undiscounted) sales thread asking price. It was a great learning experience for me. Along with some other realizations, that's when I really had to internalize the bit of wisdom that says to make sure you are happy with the price at which you sell books, and then in some sense who cares what happens after that. Trust me...I understand that argument. Still, having said that, it felt like a light kick in the crotch.
  13. No, no, no. Let's use this thread also for airing personal grievances and discussing our entrepreneurial strategies...anything, anything...just as long as the discussion does NOT relate to a potential probation list nomination or probation list removal. Wait a minute...is one of you guys going to nominate the other for the PL? If so, get that mess out of here.
  14. From what I can tell, this was the last PL situation on the table, pending resolution, right? Doesn't look good. Dale, If you don't mind me asking, how long ago was the transaction? He got caught shilling (great job Joe) and then reset his bids and someone won a cgc'd book for .99+shipping and he refused to send so he got negged. Got raked over in General for it and has been gone ever since. I REALLY don't want to see you get burned, you're always so nice to me at NYCC I think I sent the invoice about January 8th. He has been pretty straight forward all along, that he needed to sell some stuff before he sent payment, and that's fine. He asked me to give him a couple of weeks and that's fine too. Just hope he comes through. I intend to give him every shot to make it right. So, (@ Dale) has HusTruck paid this invoice yet? If not, when are the 30 days up for purposes of PL nomination?
  15. 8 pages later, this question bears repeating.
  16. Here's a short one: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3454212&fpart=1
  17. Chris, do you remember that thread in Comics General? It was a long one, and I cannot find it. Even when I go back to 2009-2010. Is this it? It starts off as a thread about Pedigree, but later morphs into a discussion about Heritage... http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=3773342&fpart=1
  18. Just picked up a raw Wild Boy (SOTI book) from Collin - awesome transaction, as usual...love buying Collin's books!
  19. Interesting question...I had a similar nagging thought. I think wipple has a case he could argue should he choose to do so, but having said that, I think this structure indeed introduces some grey area into the situation. Also, I must admit that generally I'm not a fan of the "I'll take it if he passes" type of post, although it's tough to put a finger on why it bothers me...maybe it seems too close to a 'pre-emption'...the book isn't actually technically for sale again until the first "contingent" buyer officially passes, so can it be taken by a second buyer before that happens?...
  20. Yeah, why not just put this on the PL fast-track just for the sake of thoroughness...seems like the refund + disparaging Ed's lineage would qualify as "refusal to complete the transaction"
  21. I'm curious whether wipple is going to let him off the hook on this one, or whether wipple is going to formally ask for an explanation/PM timestamp...say, over in the PL discussion thread....
