  1. It heated up. An Adv 260 CGC 7.5 C/OW just closed on the 'Bay for $928. I think it would've sold for even more if that stamp wasn't on the front cover. I like date stamps; 4-line name & address stamps on the middle front cover, not so much.
  2. Ugh, that guy just bought a big book from me and hasn't paid after a week/multiple messages & no reply. Guess I'm not the only one.
  3. I could be wrong, but from what I understand most PayPal accounts are limited to only be able to send/receive a certain amount in a single transaction (I think it's $10,000). I've sent/received $10k+ payments before, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this 0-feedback guy can't even receive a $10k PayPal payment. So you'd have to pay by something with zero protection outside of eBay/PayPal. It's not like it's a great deal anyway, so why risk it.
  4. I don't know but all his feedback is positive and he's had some bigger sales and if it's legit that person got a good deal That sale will probably be parsed out of GPA because of the aforementioned reasons. -J. Looks like it was legit and a heck of a deal. how can you tel if a deal is legit or not? it will show up on gpa? "Non regular comic book seller", or however it's phrased, sales that still at least "appear" legit but extraordinarily low are usually speared out from the regular data points. -J. Respectfully disagree with that statement. The seller is a Top Rated Seller w/100% positive feedback (mostly as as seller) and has been registered on eBay since 2011, under the same user ID since 10/26/2011.Check his feedback. It was a BIN listing, and the only reason it sold for a few grand below GPA average is because the seller does not primarily deal in comics. That said, he would not know the market very well for the book (has no access to GPA etc etc)....and he went off past sales on ebay to come up with his BIN $9000 figure, figured he'd price it lower than other copies for a quick sale. Virtually any collector who is looking for this book, in CGC'd mid grade , would be happy to pay 25% below the GPA average for a CGC 4.5. The seller simply priced it low to sell it quickly, not knowing that he could have gotten at least another $1500 ,and probably just as quickly. GPA will record this sale, based on the fact that GPA would not be providing accurate sales data, if they did not include this sale.....and what good would the GPA be if it only chose to report higher dollar sales, of key books? You just answered your own question. GPA included it at the bottom in the "relists, non-sales & errors" section with the note " Item recorded as sold/Low feedback seller/not a regular comic book seller." I think most would agree that this is exactly how it should be handled, as a $9k sale would otherwise be misleading if grouped in with the other sales by regular comic dealers or auction-sales.
  5. Great seller. Perfect description and very safe packing. Thanks again!
  6. I'm sorry if anyone thinks this looks great, but by her face, she just looks like she doesn't want to be doing this. Possibly even in pain. I actually feel bad for her, if she doing this to get a couple of independent movies greenlit or something. I don't think there is any need to feel bad for her -- she seems pretty stoked based on her reaction on twitter. (thumbs u
  7. My local shop has rearranged their wall of silver age books to have 90% Flash now. I'm not sure how well they're moving, but the shop is definitely trying. If I had 20 Amazing Spider-Mans and 20 Flashes of same era/price, I'd like sell the Spideys faster. But it used to be that I would sell all 20 Spider-Mans and 0 Flashes, and now it's 20 to 8 or 9. I don't know how long it's going to last, but it's nice to see. Now if only we can get a Jimmy Olsen Netflix show... Jimmy Olsen will be on the Supergirl show this fall. There is hope!
  8. Yep, it's the gray/blue color that everyone is talking about. Take a look at Action Comics #252 (almost a year earlier than B&B 28), and you see the same really bright blue on Superman on (most) issues and the (IMO less attractive) grayish-blue on others. I looked and I don't see the same variance as on BB28… some are darker because they may have more magenta/red ink, but Im not swearing to it. Neither blue looks like the same grayish ink on BB28 though. If you look at this link (same seller, so same scanner), it shows exactly what I'm talking about. Might not be the same as the BB28, but it just shows that certain DCs from the period sometimes have different colors that are consistent and not simply due to fading or scanner settings: http://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_odkw=&_ssn=dtacoll&hash=item35e2572c66&item=231430630502&pt=US_Comic_Books&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2046732.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xaction+252&_nkw=action+252&_sacat=0

  10. Great seller, fast & secure shipping. Thanks again!
  11. I was a little confused on this until recently myself, but it actually doesn't have anything to do with accepting eBay payments. It is related to if the sender of the "personal PayPal" is using a credit card to fund the transfer, or if they are simply transferring 'cash' out of their PayPal or bank account. You can send/receive personal PayPal money as much as you want, but PayPal is only going to make it "free" (no fees) if it is a PayPal or bank transfer from one account to another. If you are using a credit card to make the transfer, then either the sender or receiver is going to have to pay PayPal fees. Probably not a great idea to make a habit of sending (or receiving) money this way anyway, but that's how PayPal determines if there is a fee or not.
  12. It's a cool book and definitely hard to find, but if there was THAT much demand, the single highest graded copy would've sold for far more than $3,800. The handful of people who really care about spending $5k on that book would've stepped up and paid more for that 7.5, rather than waiting for another/nicer copy to turn up. Comparing it to anywhere near a top 20 Silver Age book is ridiculous.
  13. $3,350.00 A decent price. The book seems a bit stagnant right now though.... -J. No international bidders allowed, not the greatest pics, and ending at 1PM on a Tuesday the week before Christmas/just after Heritage/Comic Link/Comic Connect all had their big auctions -- really not ideal conditions for maximizing the price!
  14. This drives me crazy too. Since CGC (and in this case, PGX) doesn't "grade" the interior (other than page quality), you pretty much have to assume that the coverless (or single page in this case) is in really low grade shape. I think slabbed, coverless books/pages look cool -- you can see interior pages you otherwise don't normally see. When people put a fake cover over top of the only original part, it drives me insane. I'd consider bidding on something like this if it was just the page -- with the fake cover, I have zero interest.
  15. Just bought another book from Joey. Fast shipping, great service. Thanks!
  16. With restoration, it really varies from book to book. But if you have a trimmed/color touched 5.0, it would likely be worth less than a 2.0 unrestored book (the spread between restored value and unrestored value is much bigger than comparing a 5.0 restored to a 3.5/4.0 unrestored like you mentioned in your first post -- it is more like 5.0 restored to 1.0/1.5 unrestored). And trimming would probably be the type or restoration to avoid, as it can never be undone, whereas color touch or an added piece could potentially be removed.
  17. Great seller, fast shipping, thanks again!
  18. Joey was great to deal with. Very fast replies, book exactly as represented. Shipped the very next day with great packing. Highly recommended!
