  1. If you check CGC Data's site, you can see a fresh All Star 8 9.4 graded a week or two ago (didn't check on the other two), so it's the real deal. I'd love to see a link though, I haven't seen the ad on eBay yet.
  2. I could use a Captain Marvel Adventures #1 back cover if anyone has one. I'll pay a really strong price.
  3. Awesome seller and great books! Thanks again!
  4. Best copy I've seen in a while; good luck with the sale!
  5. Just a head's up to whoever bought the Detective 35 Jerry Robinson copy off of eBay earlier today for $7500. It was sold using the same title/scans/description as when Sparkle City sold it several years ago (you can copy/paste the title of the listing into Google, and it will bring up the prior sale). The guy's feedback looks somewhat legit, but it definitely fits the typical model that these scammers have been pulling on eBay (lifted pics/description, non-comic seller, underpriced but not 'so' underpriced that it raises suspicion). So if anyone here bought it, I'd just be cautious and stay on the case if the seller has any delays in shipping or anything fishy goes on.
  6. In addition to those two examples (the "faded" blue version vs. the "bright" blue version), here are a couple of ones I can't explain (not my books). Both of them have the bright color scheme along the spine (Superman's blue arm and in the "M" of "Metallo" by the bottom spine), but the rest of the cover is the "faded" color scheme. If it was reversed (90% bright with one small faded section), I think you could chalk it up to fading from a small portion of the book being exposed to light; but given that MOST of the cover is "faded" and only part is bright, I don't think this works. That makes me think (on this book at least), it was this way from the beginning.
  7. I saw it too and can't find it now either. Is that around the going rate now for a 9.6? Or maybe slightly more? What would one of the four (?) 9.8's bring in today's market?
  8. Awesome, thanks (and thanks to GPA!). Hopefully the winning bidder on this lot catches on soon enough and gets a refund.
  9. Not sure if anyone here bought the 6.5 copy off of eBay the other day for $4,399, but if you did, I am pretty sure that it was likely a scam (obviously a red flag just by the price). If you search with the eBay listing's title in quotes on google, you can find the original listing for this book where it sold on eBay in 2011 for $6500 (same pics, same description). It's on GPA right now, but I really don't think this was a legit sale. If you look at the guy's feedback and recent sales, he is selling high end camera/music items (no other comics, no comic related feedback), and he actually got a positive feedback on an expensive sale recently, but I suspect that was very likely illegitimate as well (it was left by a 24 feedback buyer; click on the item and you can see that it was relisted and sold again.. so this was NOT an actual sale that went through.. don't let it fool you into thinking that he has actually sold/completed a $6200 sale recently). Originally noticed this for selfish reasons, as I have a 6.5 copy myself and saw GPA take a nosedive.. but if you were the buyer on this one, I'd really look into it, as I am pretty sure this was a scam. Original sale from comicsvalue.com's site: http://www.comicsvalue.com/DC-Comics-Showcase-22-CGC-65-Off-White-Pages-1st-App-Silver-Age-Green-Lantern/110000035449.html. eBay sale from a couple days ago: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-Comics-Showcase-22-CGC-6-5-Off-White-Pages-1st-App-Silver-Age-Green-Lantern-/172737368327?hash=item2837f31107:g:1E0AAOSw-29ZRplT.
  10. If they took it to the max (179 seconds between bids) in 2k increments for $100k worth of bids (50 x 179).. that would come out to 2.5 hours! So it could actually go all night at this pace!
  11. I think the Action 1 is going to end when one of these last second "snipers" loses their internet connection trying to get one of these 10 seconds left bids in there
  12. Is this something that was ever actually enforced, or was it like one of those old/weird laws we have in the US where something like bathing a donkey in a bathtub on a Sunday is considered a felony?
  13. Just eyeballing it, it looks like the wrong size. And no "!" after "Wonder Woman", which I believe differentiates the Famous First Edition (which is what this probably is) and the original.
  14. I use them too, and they are great. Check the fine print on the shipping though. Not sure how expensive the stuff you would be shipping might be, but the max coverage varies by the shipping carrier -- for me, Priority Mail & UPS maxes out at $2k, FedEx is $5k and then overnight shipments/registered mail is up to $25k. And they'll do one-time riders for amounts over that, but they are definitely easy to work with!
  15. Also, this copy doesn't show up on GPA because I think GPA thought the first ($14k) sale was not legit -- I'm not sure -- I messaged the seller and he seemed real (he also received positive feedback from the buyer), so like I said, I think that may have been a real sale. GPA actually has it down in the "zero feedback seller/non sales/errors" section at the bottom of the price data for All Star 8. Hopefully this info helps someone avoid an expensive headache!
  16. Here's the original sale. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALL-STAR-COMICS-8-CGC-1-0-1ST-Wonder-Woman-From-Personal-Collection-Hot-Book-/192193539675?hash=item2cbfa0ae5b:g:dq8AAOSw42dZIbCx. Same pics, minus the one of the guy holding the book up, and same description. And of course the 10% going to charity part.
  17. This is a scam. Someone got a steal last week on what I believe was a legit auction; this guy just lifted the pics (and description) from that one. Just look at the completed sales and you'll find it -- $15k BIN/best offer listing, and the seller accepted $14k. I'm pretty sure that first one was legit, but this one is absolutely a scam.
  18. These are awesome, keep 'em coming!! And congrats on finishing the run!
  19. My way is somewhat expensive but safe/time-saving for less expensive/single book orders. I use the 9x12 Uline boards (one on each side of the book, taped down) (https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-3384/Corrugated-Pads/9-x-12-150-lb-Corrugated-Pads) for $.31 each and then their 9 1/8" x 12 1/8" easy-fold mailers (https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-327/Easy-Fold-Mailers/12-1-8-x-9-1-8-White-Easy-Fold-Mailers) for $.61 each and it's a perfect fit and very secure. It's an extra dollar and change per package, but it saves me so much time not having to cut up cardboard, and you can ship a single book via First Class securely without fear of damage.. and you can get a sandwich of maybe 6-7 books in there and it's a really sturdy 2 lb package. Not for everyone of course, but if you are shipping a lot of stuff, it cuts out a lot of the parts everyone hates doing (cutting boards, crumpling newspaper, packing peanuts, etc.).
  20. Just as an FYI, in case anyone was in the mood for gambling on this shady auction, it's a scam. This identical copy has been listed at least a half dozen times over the past few years, with the same pics & description lifted from the original 2013 sale (see link below). http://www.comicsvalue.com/FIGHT-AGAINST-CRIME-HORROR-AND-TERROR-VOL-1-20-JULY-1954-STORY-COMICS-VF/251390990231.html
  21. CGC actually knew too.. someone just forgot to put it on the label If you search the serial #, it has.. Country: Canada. Certification Information Certification #: 1398933003 Title: Fighting Yank Issue: 12 Issue Date: 3-5/45 Publisher: Nedor Publications Grade: 6.0 Page Quality: CREAM TO OFF-WHITE Label Text: Conservation includes: spine split sealed to cover, cover reinforced. Grade Date: 12/23/2016 Country: Canada Category: Conserved
  22. It's a Canadian Edition.. at least I'm 90% sure. I google image searched "Fighting Yank #12" and one of the first results was an old eBay listing with "Fighting Yank #12 (10) Canadian Edition" and it has the same cover/yellow box around the number. Not sure if we can post links on here, but this is the old eBay sale: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/fighting-yank-12-10-schomburg-xela-bondage.
