  1. Please don't get sucked into the clean/press/resub game. The odds that a high grade slabbed key ON A DEALER SITE (!!!!!!) is not already maxed-out (or not worth the money to take the gamble on) are so slim, and you are going to get killed on all of the shipping to/from Canada. Not to mention tying up all your money in a single book which you won't be able to sell for months. Finding good deals and flipping them has a shot at succeeding; trying to press & flip keys with almost no money to spare is a totally different ballgame.
  2. Well that makes things easier! Problem solved.
  3. I have a copy; it's lower grade (water staining and clear tape on spine) but it presents nicely. Easily one of the coolest things I've ever owned! I'm not sure how many still exist, but I would imagine that there are copies left to be discovered in old school pulp collections.
  4. It's more than those three. They charge it here in Illinois and they don't even have an office here. They claim any state that they hold an auction in will, permanently, garner a sales tax. They even charge sales tax on the Buyer's premium and the shipping charges. Ridiculous. Hard for me to bid on any of their auctions because of the high buyers premium and the sales tax and win because I live in Texas .. Legally, you'd pay either way. Most states have "use tax" laws that require you to pay sales tax directly to your state for out-of-state online purchases where sales tax wasn't charged by the vendor. Texas estimates they lose 2 billion annually by consumers that neglect to pay use tax when they file their state income tax. By collecting sales taxes in only certain states, it puts the bidder residing in a tax state at a disadvantage. He has to be willing to pay 10 - 12 % more when bidding. If the sales taxes are truly owed, why not collect them on all transactions and level the playing field ? Also, the sales tax on the BP and the shipping is definitely debatable. Say, if I buy a new furnace, they only charge sales tax on the materials. When I get a haircut, all service, they do not charge sales tax at all, etc. etc. I'm sure in the future, that will be the case (collecting it on all transactions). Congress has proposed passing something along those lines in the last couple of years ("Marketplace Fairness Act"), but it hasn't happened yet. Only a matter of time. Imagine having to pay an extra 10-12% on every eBay purchase, etc. Or worse, imagine being a small time seller who has to collect the correct local sales tax amount on every sale (with a different amount due depending on which of the 9000+ different tax districts in the country the customer lives in).
  5. Now that the show's on the CW, it would be cool if they could have an episode where Supergirl somehow ends up on another Earth and it's the "Earth" where Smallville happened. It could take place 10 years after the Smallville finale and Clark is Superman now, bring back Lex and Lana, etc. and even have a scene where the Melissa Benoist Supergirl meets the Laura Vandervoort Supergirl. I guess it would cost too much to get all of those actors on board for a single episode, but even if you could only come up with a handful of them, it could make for a fun idea. Maybe if this show can last a few more seasons, it's something they might consider?
  6. Yep, this wins oddest Fedex experience of all-time! The question is, what are you going to do with the urine samples now?!
  7. Wow, just searched my past sales and saw that I had a similar copy as part of an eBay group that I sold in 2013 for.. $20!
  8. I'm not sure if anyone posted this yet, but they are going to re-air the first season again, starting tonight. Two episodes every Monday night on the CW starting at 8. I guess that would take it up to the season 2 premiere in October.
  9. Bought a book from Keith, very fast shipping and good communication. A+ all around. Thanks!
  10. Another thing that I don't think anyone else mentioned is the possibility that the shipping label came off of the package at some point. It could've gotten to Memphis, the label got separated from the package and the tracking stopped dead there. I had that happen with a package once (post office, not Fedex) and they put me in touch with some facility that handled misplaced packages like that and I described the contents of the box in case they came across my books. They never turned up, but if there is a similar department with Fedex, it might not hurt to let someone there know that you're missing a CGC book and the label #.
  11. Collectinsure covers UPS packages as well, the limit just isn't as high as it is with FedEx.
  12. I agree; it is probably too early to say it's lost. I had a Fedex package that went from "estimated delivery today" to "pending" and then it ended up coming the next day. I have never really heard of a Fedex package getting lost -- I'm sure it's somewhere, and signature is required, so the fact that it doesn't show as "delivered" is a good sign.
  13. Dan bought a 4-figure book from my sales thread last week. Paid immediately and let me know as soon as it got there. Can't ask for a better buyer. Thanks again!
  14. Superman to Guest Star on Supergirl Come on, make it Tom Welling!
  15. I saw that earlier, nicest copy on eBay in a long time. I want that guy's Tales to Astonish #13 9.2; too bad he has it priced higher than his ASM 1 9.0!
  16. Supergirl renewed and moving to The CW Should mean more crossovers and less likely to be canceled after just one or two seasons since the ratings don't have to be as high on the CW to keep the show going. Only downside is the budget being lower on the CW, but it sounds like moving production from LA to Vancouver should help, and if they can produce Flash with a CW budget, no reason they can't do the same with Supergirl.
  17. I really wish CGC would distinguish between the two because I can tolerate the second situation with one dried out spot, but I wouldn't buy a book where the entire spine is splitting/crumbling away. Unfortunately just seeing "brittle" on the label forces you to assume the worst, when many times it isn't.
  18. + 1 I think I've watched it more than 4 times now. Easily. +2 :: I've watched it multiple times too! Looking forward to the sequel!
  19. You do know that this was an April Fool's joke, right? :: There was an article on another site making it sound real, I guess this guy did a video on it -- I thought it was real at first too, but of course it was just a cruel joke!
  20. You can still get the fees maxed out on a high dollar item if you just open a "basic store" for (I believe) $19.95 for one month. You can pay the $19.95 for one month and sell your expensive item, but the fees are capped at $250 since you have a store (whereas they would be capped at $750 if you didn't have a store). I don't know why eBay does it this way, but it's definitely worth it to just open a store for one month then cancel, to save on the final value fees.
  21. My response is It would be awesome if this also happened for international shipments, but I'm guessing it doesn't. That gap between 8 oz First Class and 9 oz First Class on international shipments is brutal. Would love to see that change back to the old pricing.
  22. Sweet. I liked the Red Kryptonite episodes on Smallville, should be good on this show too. And it looks like it is going to be renewed for a second season. Not official yet, but the CBS CEO announced this morning that CBS is planning to renew all five of their new shows from this season. Supergirl Planned To Be Renewed For Season 2 Per CBS CEO
  23. Great buyer, very reliable and easy to work with. Has bought multiple four figure books from me and paid quickly every time.
