Seems possible that SGC and CGC are "merging"... check out the SGC website: https://sgclegacy.com/Splash
SGC was part of the CGC parent company years ago... not sure what happened.
https://www.collectiblesgroup.com/
Here's a 1999 press release mentioning SGC and CGC: https://press.aboutamazon.com/news-releases/news-release-details/amazoncom-auctions-and-certified-collectibles-group-announce
I thought SGC was still part of the Collector Society which included NGC, CGC, SGC. I did not even know SGC separated. We use to have sports card guys on the CGC forum chatting in good old days. Anyone remember when the society membership to CGC included free submissions to NGC and SGC for grading. I got free grading on some old baseball cards and coins which I would never have had graded otherwise.

I have binders of the all the Marvel Cards from 1990, 1991, 1992, Masterpiece, and X-Men Fleer Ultra. Debating whether to have them graded. Here is some good discussion if you are considering as well. Update on the current state of the market:

4 to 5 weeks? I thought the turnaround is a lot longer than that.
Guys on youtube say it 9 months to 1 year at the low tier for PSA. I hope CGC never becomes like this.

Everything is exploding due to nostalgia . Have to see how high this market will go. Good time to sell if you need the money.

I loved these Marvel Impel cards from 1990 when I was a kid and I think so did everyone else: Thought these videos were interesting:

So the value of this fractionalized asset jumped $10,200( 50% increase) in 90 days?
Star Wars books have gone nuclear and this jump is reflecting that.

Very cool. Netting at least 2 million. Seems like a good time to do it for him. Very cool
Glad to read he never sold until now. Also nice to enjoy the money in retirement.

Cool article about the seller. His advice: Buy what you like and read it. Don't buy for investment.

Hey All!
I promise I'll sit down and type out the details of the bonus stuff soon. As I'm sure many of you are, I'm keeping pretty busy today but I won't forget about this.
Don't forget to get those forms in! The prize selection starts at noon on Saturday!
What time zone is that?

The degree of restoration is a factor as well. The 9.8 has extensive, auspicious restoration which likely impacted the hammer price.
Yes, especially the trimming on all 3 sides is the kiss of death.

It sold for $42,222 on Tuesday.
The final price is pretty weak. The price is equivalent to universal 5.0/5.5 price. Torpedo tried to sell me a Restored Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 9.4 SS Stan Lee for $50k and then ended up getting it regraded to Restored CBCS 9.6 SS Stan Lee, asking for $110 k. John thought CGC would not give a Restored AF 15 a 9.8 so tried the CBCS route. This was many years ago so I don't know if it actually sold.
