37 is not my favorite either so I never felt like finding a nicer copy. I think it is that the monster seems too cartoony and the background is pretty blah. I guess they can't all be winners... but agree the interiors are still amazing.

Stunning 9.4 copy! I love this cover too, another Lily Renee classic, and the purchase of this particular issue at a con led to me meeting a great collector friend, so for me some of these issues have great attachment beyond the immediate liking of the issue itself. Also, seems like this issue has some significant variation in wrapping.

34 is one of my favorites too... (seems like I say that a lot). Love the colors on this one.

Flex, the colors on your 32 are unreal. Almost seem enhanced compared to some, neon-esqeue even, but that is the fun about these rare color strikes with Fiction House. The colors on Karl's copy are pretty amazing too. And can be hard to see some through the slabs, glad you showed the before pic. I thought I had a scan of my 32 but can't find at the moment so will have to catch up on that one once I have a chance to get it rescanned. This is so fun seeing everyone's books all at once.

They are from the same collection, very observant. From the sci-fi writer Raymond Miller. I don't know too much about him but I've seen things written by him in some fanzines. Earl Shaw sold off a lot of his collection back in 2018. My copies of 20 (didn't post that one since I upgraded), 22, 28, and 31 are all from his collection. I think I got about a dozen comics in all, including Fight 13. He was a fan of trying to do restoration with tape.

Here is my 30. I realize I can't hold a candle to some collections, but I am ok with that. I'm just happy to have halfway decent copies most of the time. When I started buying Planets in 2010, there were some amazing deals, but as the years went on, the prices definitely went up. It was a struggle to finish things off the last few years. I can't imagine starting over today. It has been very expensive just upgrading a few books, sometimes with a ten-fold (or more) increase in price over a decade. This issue reminds me of a guy I know who is nearing 90, a retired dealer. He read many of these when they came out and later accumulated the run. Only guy I know who was an original reader of the title off the news stands. There aren't many of them left. He has since sold off most everything but this is the one issue he kept, because Lost World was his favorite feature by far. And looking at the Ingels art on Lost World, I can understand why. I've included a few pages.

I made the same mistake last year on a book that ended up having a repro cover, but it was very hard to tell from the pics. But once I got in hand it was obvious it was a brand new cover. A lot of the imperfections I was seeing were actually just scans on the repro cover. At first the seller, someone quite well known and reputable, tried to assert that I was mistaken, due to it being a somewhat strange cover to begin with. But once I hit them with a bunch of detailed pics, they conceded and refunded and resold it as a repro cover. So even major dealers get fooled once in a while. Hopefully the seller here does the right thing.

I've always found 26 to be the most often miscut. Mine is a prime example.

Nice ones Zolne! I remember I bought this issue the day I first met you in person at Richard's table in Chicago at C2E2. But I'm probably due for an upgrade on this one. Still a very solid cover.

My 24. Looks like an 8.0 but hit hard for split wraps. Never taking it out so I'm fine with it.

With Fox books getting ever more expensive, I have started picking up some pieces when I can. But somehow I managed ti find a cover and insides (at least most of) for a Science Comics 6, each selling separately the same week on eBay and won both auctions. What are the odds?!? I think they married up pretty well, and the Joe Simon cover looks pretty sharp!

Does it seems to anyone else like they stretch things out too far? It is fairly difficult to remember to check in on my one or two interesting lots every day for a week and a half. I think it might be better in a shorter format. Might explain some of the second week fatigue as well.

I know we are off the rivets, but I have always felt like 23 24 25 tie in with them pretty nicely with the Zolne covers, while 26 is more the start of a new era with Doolin cover art starting. That 9.2 23 is beautiful!
