Thought you might enjoy seeing the contents from Wu Fang #2. The whole issue features Flanagan artwork.

Had a great time, and was pleased to learn there were some fellow boardies in the room. Here is a nice group shot of the best of my pulpy pickups this weekend! And then one more I couldn't fit in the group, and something in the comic realm I was pretty pumped about as well!

'PLANET COMICS' (is deserving of its own thread)
mwotka replied to Paul © ® ⚽️💙™'s topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Congrats Spyder! A real achievement and surely a great feeling to have it done. And kudos on your pic, that is not easy to arrange and get in one picture (and in focus and with no major glare!). My More Fun pic was a major pain, and half the books. Never tried it with the Planets... -
Agreed, was watching the Jungle 11 and it is going for crazy $$ now. It is a cool cover but c'mon. I didn't know dinosaurs were so popular!

https://www.comicconnect.com/item/601600 How about this issue of #1 at auction? Denver Pedigree Nick Cage 9.4 doesn't come along every day. -
I saw this too, and as someone needing a copy, I was not happy. Why is this issue so valued compared to others around it, also by Everett and featuring great art and stories? Maybe buyers are finally catching on to how cool and rare these books are...

GA With Less Than Ten Copies in the CGC Census
mwotka replied to circumstances's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Just found this last week and had never heard of it and CGC doesn't even appear to have a census for it so I think that qualifies! -

This was a large high grade collection from Metropolis's last auction and there was a lot of very nice white page Fiction House books, along with a lot of other great stuff. https://www.comicconnect.com/article/event-auction-highlight-the-kentucky-collection?tzf=1

Nice pickups kelholt! Just got my CC package in the mail today. The colors on some of these Kentucky books are unreal. Very pleased with my three pickups!

Would you buy a slabbed book with brittle pages?
mwotka replied to Bo_Hogg1's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
The issue as I see it is that the term is essentially a catch all that gives very little clue to what is actually going on. Aside from CGC appending "slightly" to the term, you glean nothing from it unless you can see an area or areas flaking or damaged. The grader notes are often no better. I've seen books called brittle where one small edge or corner stuck out of a stack and oxidized and is flaking, but the 98% of the book that wasn't sticking out is fine. Same thing with brittle spines. I've seen where the wraps start detaching at the crease, and in reading it you can detach a page, never a good feeling. But then the rest of the book is fine. This is a common problem with old paper that has been folded on the same crease over and over but it doesn't mean chunks of paper are just falling off. Then I've bought books labeled cream/tan or slightly brittle and opened them and almost cried as things started flaking off and regretted the purchase. Another thing I've noticed is sometimes the cover is brittle and the interior not, or vice versa. Would be nice if they would just tell you what the heck is going on. Occasionally you get the "all wraps completely split" label, but that is about it. Sometimes you get areas of brittleness where old tape residue has damaged the paper, but most of the book is fine. One last thing I've seen is if there is a significant spine roll and the leading edge of a few pages gets a lot of handling wear, that area can flake off and be "brittle" but the rest of the book is fine. So if it is in a slab and doesn't have flakes/pieces floating around and I think I can tell what they are calling "brittle", I will go for it. A couple examples below. The Adventure looks like it has one bad corner and got hammered for it. The Planet 5 has some damage to the top edge where it looks like it stuck out of a stack, but the rest looks great. And the Planet 24, if it didn't say "split wraps", looks like an 8.0 and nothing is flaking off. I was happy to acquire these books. -

It would be Criminal not to show your CRIME comics!

Love those Gangsters Can't Win! The title font with the handcuff is so cool. I only have the #3, but what a red dress beauty! Here is another crime cover with a red dress beauty by Mr Baker that I just picked up, and wielding a Tommy gun. -
