After doing some very very initial searching, it seems that in this case PayPal would eventually send the amount to collections and (with this amount) quite adversely impact his credit. Obviously we know one side (shared by two people) of the story, but this one will sting a year from now.

So you guys are implying that it is actually possible to pull this scam on PayPal and keep the money? I'm still not following how he wins anything other than the earlier referenced 0% loan for the price of his PayPal account and buy/sell membership on these boards. I am scared that I'll have to pay back every $100 transaction I make on PayPal from a sketchy buyer, let alone a $10,000 one!

CGC cases are not sealed closed on the side. If you give them enough of a tug, you can pull the sides slightly open, but never enough to slip the inner well out. This way, if you decide to crack the book out later, you don't do damage to the comic. If everyone on the boards sends wood2k1 a message apologizing for your reaction because you have no idea what you are talking about haven't owned any slabs, will that counteract it?

He got caught shilling (great job Joe) and then reset his bids and someone won a cgc'd book for .99+shipping and he refused to send so he got negged. Got raked over in General for it and has been gone ever since. I REALLY don't want to see you get burned, you're always so nice to me at NYCC I think I sent the invoice about January 8th. He has been pretty straight forward all along, that he needed to sell some stuff before he sent payment, and that's fine. He asked me to give him a couple of weeks and that's fine too. If you are chasing newsstand editions, wait for the Canadian one instead. Likely the same price but print run should be 10% of the US version. I already have a US 9.8 direct and a CAD 9.8 NS. Trying to finish off the trifecta with a US NS. Anyone have opinions on the ceiling for this book? I have quite a few 9.8 and 9.6 coming back tomorrow.
