  1. I'm suspecting the spine corners along with a few non-colour breaking spine creases. Usually the culprit that takes the 9.4's to 9.2's. At least in my case.
  2. Those are some mighty fine grades and copies you own SilverAgeGuy... I'm openly jealous!!!
  3. Enjoy them my friend... they were nicley preserved and I enjoyed them while I owned them!!
  4. Very nice books SilverAgeGuy!!! Thanks for sharing and post more if you got'em scanned!!!
  5. Thanks for posting some awesome book mar-vell !!! I love'em all !!!
  6. Thanks Steve!!! I got them from a very awesome seller I can't thank you enough my friend!!! Like I said before... this is pure art to me!!
  7. Thanks guys!! These books (the Pre-hero ST's) are my collecting passion when it comes to comics. I love each cover and it's great to share them with true collectors that appreciate them as well. I have 7 more pre-hero books at CGC and can't wait to get them back and add to the set.
  8. I just love the Pre-hero books!!! Here's 6 more, this stuff is pure art that should hang on a wall.
  9. Here's my first Pedigree.. actually pedigrees as I bought them all at the same time.
  10. I like some of the Caps aswell..this might be a problem It's no problem!!! It's all good!!! Congrats Mutant.. The WPG collection is my favourite.
  11. Ahhh.. Sorry to hear that Frederic. "Thrill of the Hunt" .. just keep thinking thrill of the hunt. There's a lot of nice #114's out there!!
  12. Yes, I am following it closely. It is tempting It already reached a nice price...I'm assuming you're referring to the eBay auction at $252 right now. Well done Rich!!!
  13. It makes it that much more sweeter when you get it though!! The thrill of the hunt!!!
  14. When you decide to sell it, I'm sure you will find quickly a buyer within this thread's contributors Should already be mine!!!!!!!!!! Should've bid higher I remember almost pulling the trigger on that eBay auction myself.
  15. Scrooge, that is a fantastic copy!!! Is it complete with attached cover?? Being a huge ST fan I would slab it just for the sake of having it as part of my slabbed collection. Thanks so much for sharing !!! Awesome.. Nice pick up!! I'm jealous!!!
  16. The Boston "pedigree" is notorious for that. Lots of dupes, especially with the Caps. I think the Bostons qualify more as a "hoard" or collection then anything else. Good to know.. thanks George... I love the idea of getting ST's in a pedigree since this is a mainstay in my collection till I die.
  17. I just made an interesting discovery today. I recently purchased Strange Tales #142, #151, #152 and most recently #153 which are all Boston Pedigree. Then I discovered that Doug has #151 & #153 from the Boston Pedigree too. I didn't realize that they were mulitplies of the same issue from the same pedigree floating around!!!
  18. I love word bubbles in early Marvel covers I don't know why they stopped using them at some point but it was great while it lasted Absolutely... I always felt the early Marvel covers were stories unto themselves
  19. I'll have to pick these up !!! Thanks for the lead I hope they come out with all the pre-hero stuff soon!!!
  20. Hey Frederic!!! Does Marvel Masterworks have a complete run of the Strange Tales or just those books as a certain selection??
  21. Campy villians or not, they're all works of art to me ( IMHO ) !!! And in those grades... WOW!!!
  22. Nicely done Mr. Pym!!! That #111 is amazing!!! Even if it has one of the weakest villan concepts ever... Asbestos Man!!! What the hell does he do... snuff fires and cause cancer!?!?!
  23. Thanks Rich, I actually just picked up issue #153 which is also a Boston Pedigree copy along with some later copies from Metropolis listed as 9.8, 9.6, 9.6 & 9.4. They advertised the 153 as a 9.2 and I was happy with the first batch so I rolled the dice again. Once those 5 come in I'll be sending 15 more Strange Tales to be slabbed. 7 pre-hero issues and 8 hero issues ( including #110 & 115 which won't grade super high 6.0-8.0 IMO, but they will still help solidify that I'm serious about ST and can upgrade later. )
  24. This is a good assessment of the timing of the industry. But the x-factor is clowns like me who pay thru the nose. I would love to honestly see the bottom fall out on book demand and prices. I'm not in this to make anything, just collect what I love so if these books dropped significantly in value I would be scooping them up and not loosing sleep on what I paid previously. As for convincing my wife and avoiding a hanging... My dear Mr. Pym, come to Canada and I'll show you a wife tougher and crazier then any ex Turkish girlfriend!!!
