I never really understood when people complained about coloring ruining art in a comic. I like color comics and just figured the art and color of the early HB issues just sucked. Subsequentelly I never really sought out any OA from that era becuase I never really liked it. UNTIL you posted these. I can hardly believe this is the original page that reated those monstrosities that got printed. I'm converted, I now want some art from HB from the early days. Mike

First, let me state that Douglas is one of the most geniunly nicest guys out there! ! O.K., with that unabashed asskissing out of the way (in case he stumbles on to this thread in a few years), I emailed him from his site ARSENIC LULLABIES and initially asked for him to contribute to my PREACHER cover gallery. Not only did he knock it out of the park, he is one of the quickest artists I have dealt with. So when my wife offered to get me a present and said I could get 5 covers from Douglas, I emailed him again. I should have all five done in about 5-6 weeks from the first email. "REASONABLE" = I can afford it and I'm a lowly military enlisted guy and my wife Sells on eBay(please bid and support my OA habit) and I got 5 covers done. I am sure you can afford at least one. The best part is, from the time you get the idea, contact him and get the art in hand it is only a few weeks.

Won an auction off of Colleen Doran about two months ago. I asked her to hold it in case she posted more pages I would want. Well she never did so I asked her to ship my page. Got the package today and it had two pages in it! She accidentally printed out the auction I won twice and sent me two pages. And the second page I like better than the first. So after figuring this all out threw several emails I paid for the second page she sent and here they are: Oh Yeah, Go bid on HER AUCTIONS . She is selling her art due to her mother being ill and she is on par with Guy Davis in the niceness dept.

Preacher 42 alternate cover by Michael Parkinson.(eBay i.d. - yearonestudios1) and website (http://webcomicsnation.com/snufflymonkey/ ) . For those that say OA is out of reach to the average collector, YOU'RE WRONG. This was under $75, under 6 weeks and that includes shipping from Australia. Go get one

Got My two Wiesenfeld covers the other day. Fantastic oversized (14X18) painted covers. Without knowing it, I have been a Wiesenfeld fan for quite a few years, meaning I have always loved his covers, but just never knew the artist behind them. My loss, becuase Aron was fantastic to deal with and a constant professional. Enjoy,

I notice all of the boxes are still empty. I want to know the calculation for how long it is going to fill those up alpha-numerically. 168 longboxes organized= xhrs x {time lost while rereading nostalgic issues} + spot grading - [girlfriend/wife leaving out of frustration] / duplicate issues -
BLACK CAT MYSTERY 31 I first saw the printed version of this comic here on these boards and instantly loved it. I started collecting any decent copy I could find. So when I saw the orignal while browsing through the latest Heritage catalog I was amazed. Here is a cover I stumbled upon while browsing these boards and then stumbled upon the auction in a catalog I am lucky to get since I have only won one auction from Heritage and it was for under $175. Golden Age art pricing is somethng I know NOTHING about, so my first thought is to PM some of the board members that I have seen discussing it, and who's opinions I have come to trust. All of them responded and I'd like to thank them very much for thier informatve and helpful responses. So I bid my max on the auction (read that "as much as I could scrape together" which was less than some of the estimates I recieved via PM) and I didn't win. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I get an email saying the cover is still available for the winning bid which was one increment above mine. I jumped at it (and also thought, if I had bid less ). See THIS THREAD for more obsessing over this cover. I really like those monsters
