  1. I was the former president of that company and I never saw one of these. Must have been a distributor project.
  2. I worked at Durty Nellies in Palatine for many years (the ORIGINAL) . After closing -we always had some free time to play while waiting on the manager to count the registers. Always a fun way to burn time - and lots of side betting. Though - most of the ones who were betting on it - probably should not have..... Surprised we did not have a lot of broken/sprained fingers - most would set the backswing - then really SLAM the trackball (like WAY out of control) --- memories..... At one point in the early 2000s we were getting 2 lawsuits/complaints a week from drunk insufficiently_thoughtful_persons who broke their fingers/hands playing GT. We used to just pay them if they were for less than $1,000. It's not so bad now that we got rid of the traditional cabinet/monitor and only sell the pedestal that connects to a large screen TV. BTW, I played most of my Golden Tee at Splinters in Palatine.
  3. I'll take that bet, scrub. Bring it. Oh, Chip, he's hustling you. Really. You'll lose. Somebody knows what I did in my third career after I sold Moondog's... Man, you shouldn't have fessed up, Gary. Hustle him. I have no clue what you guys are talking about. Was Gary a professional Golden Tee player? WTF is Golden Tee anyways? greggy needs to know. golden tee = golf arcade game - played with a trackball. very addicting - there is a networked version of the game that people can play for money now (online tournaments) - and there were ( probably still are) - local tournaments held in bars Gary - (post his comic shop days) - worked as marketing director for the company that designed the game. I do not know him personally - but looking over some of the news releases, I would say that Moondog knows the game pretty well - and was more than a little responsible for the popularity of the game and the contests that resulted from it. Nicely done. You sound like you've rolled a few games over the years... I learned the game from 3-time national champ Steven Sobe and 3-time world champ, Graig Kinzler. There were (and still are) some very, very good Canadian players.
  4. remember the store(s) more now - was confused at first got the mental wires crossed and was actually thinking of Fat Dutchies - spend a lot of $$$$ there in the early 90s......... Visited a couple of the moondogs locations as well at some point - but Dutchies was in my back yard so they got most of my drek $$$$ Fat Dutchies was a cool store. The owner (Chuck?) was a good guy who had obvious health problems.
  5. I'll take that bet, scrub. Bring it. Oh, Chip, he's hustling you. Really. You'll lose. Somebody knows what I did in my third career after I sold Moondog's... Palatine moondogs?? Oops - nevermind, - think I was mixing up the LCS from my younger days - Moondogs was in prospect, no? Started in Mt. Prospect. Had a shop for a short time in Palatine and moved it to Buffalo Grove...
  6. I'll take that bet, scrub. Bring it. Prepare to get SMOKED. ? You guys know absolutely nothing about how good I am at Golden Tee...you just assume no one can be better than what you've seen. That's fine. Chip, an old saying by the Golden Tee pros goes like this: "If I don't know you, you can't beat me." I know a little bit about you, but it sure doesn't have anything to do with Golden Tee!
  7. I'll take that bet, scrub. Bring it. Best of luck! Now we just have to get a Golden Tee set up in Phils parking lot, and it's on! There are still tons of GTs in bars in the Midwest. I'm sure this can be arranged.
  8. I'll take that bet, scrub. Bring it. Oh, Chip, he's hustling you. Really. You'll lose. Somebody knows what I did in my third career after I sold Moondog's...
  9. I would play Golden Tee money games with anyone on the boards...
  10. Would I be out of line if I were to post the Windy City entry here? I think you guys would enjoy it, but I don't want to do anything to jeopardize the book (if it actually is published some day).
  11. I just had a 1-day 8-hour garage sale last Saturday. Turnout wasn't as great as I hoped as I advertised extensively (multiple Facebook comic groups, craigslist and our Nextdoor website (28 neighborhoods). Sales still weren't bad for 8 hours....about $500. Here's my setup: I'm actually going to leave our garage setup like this and I'll have more sales about once each month. Like Blob, I threw in my 12,15 and 20 cent beaters in the dollar boxes. One of the first guys to my sale bought $180 worth of $1 and $2 books and most were the lower grade older books. How much were you asking for the Archie Digests and did you sell any?
  12. Just sold this one on the boards. My favorite Patsy cover.
  13. Sensational books, as always! This last one is particularly striking. Thanks, Sqeggs! It's an outasite groovy wraparound, here's the back cover. A Warren pub, a la Peter Max. Always been a huge favorite of mine. Had 2 copies for 30 years but not anymore...
  14. Theakston is on Facebook and post frequently. Send him a PM.
  15. I agree. I'm not a dark and gritty type guy but loved this movie. I was enthralled the entire 2 1/2 hours. We too applauded when WW showed up and at the end.
  16. Now you have me wanting to listen to them tonight.
  17. I put all these in the tubs so they would be easier for the next buyer to go thru them. When I got there they were all strewn about and in complete disarray. I also left all the issues in your post so he would have a better chance of moving them all to one buyer. Thanks for being that guy. The seller is a great kid who's way over his head having to sell his grandparents entire houseful of stuff. His grandfather was a barber and these are all barbershop copies. You got a good buy but also helped out the family. I did buy three books - Playboy 6, AS 121 and JO 134.
  18. Always cool to see Windy Citys, Billy. There is a question as to whether it's Andy or Anna. I have a mailing label for True 80 and it was sent to Anna Wallace (his sister).
