I've missed some posts in the last month... Was it a garage sale or flea market find?
  2. I just acquired one of these. Scarce? Have only seen the one copy, but haven't been actively looking... Well, that's says a lot! Thanks, Boot!
  3. I tag Moondog on this one Off the top of my head: Action Comics - cover only Real Screen Funnies - cover only
  4. Yup...saw that....I felt that was a very good price.... but maybe Im wrong. What do you guys think? It might be considered a good price, but there are so few sales to compare it with that it's difficult to draw any solid conclusions. If 3-5 more collectors with deep pockets decided they wanted to collect ashcans, it would change the landscape. That's always been the problem with ashcans. Copies just don't change hands often enough to create a pattern of sales that collectors can get comfortable with. I think this book went for "market", but it wouldn't have surprised me if it sold for two or three times more.
  5. There was a Peter Wheat bakery in Joliet, IL back in the 1950s. I have many of the large size comics, but have never seen one of these smaller versions.
  6. How wonderful! This news has not only made my day, but my week, month and year! Welcome back, BZ!
  7. I sold this cover 10 years ago for $4,400. I bought it from Russ when it was available for around $2,000 I believe. I've never been more disappointed in a piece of art than when I opened the package. It's ALL in the design and the color.
  8. Hake's, Bob? I was watching that lot... Nope, they turned up at a VERY friendly price at a doll show last weekend. I went for my wife to be a good guy and an older lady had them on her table mixed in with dolls. Probably the only real toys in the place. I was floored and happily grabbed my wallet. She thought they were from the '60's but I knew better. You're a lucky man. I have car # 1 and a key...
