  1. I believe some people on here know him. Can they please contact him to see if he's all right?
  2. Now that I'm retired I have time to attend estate sales, auctions, flea markets and garage sales. I'm starting to irritate a lot of the guys who had been doing this around the NW suburbs of Chicago for years. I'm the cause of the added competition!
  3. I recall the story! It‘s one of those weird time-travel stories where Scrooge and/or the Beagles find other versions of themselves in different times and places. A sort of Fantastic Four #5 without Doctor Doom's time platform. I can’t see the advantages, besides of course the fact we don’t have a horde of US collectors all after our original art… Here's a link to the Bottaro page. Do you know if it actually was published? I remember many of these wonderful stories with Witch Hazel, Scrooge, Goofy etc. meeting each other, but not this particular one. I must have read hundreds of great stories by Italian artists like Scarpa, Campi, and even the tie-together stories by Perego (who I understand was quite a character with a highly unusual background?) bring back fond memories when I see them. ---- Re. the "Trick or Treat" splash panel mentioned in another post: The organizers of the upcoming pan-European Carl Barks exhibition have approached me and asked to loan the original art for this page, along with my other Barks comic book pages. I really hope the project, which is very ambitious, pans out so a new generation of European fans will be able to see his comic book art in person. Since the early Barks originals are so rare, part of my motivation behind collecting them has always been to make a sampling of them available to museum exhibitions. Paradoxically, the oil paintings are more accessible and certainly more common than the comic book pages from Barks' peak years. And, to be completely honest, I find the latter more impressive and certainly more historically interesting. (thumbs u
  4. Me either. We're like twins, of radically differing heights and follicle counts, separated at birth. And quite a few years!
  5. It's been another month and no BZ. Has anyone been in contact with him?
  6. A horde of these were discovered? I have never seen this comic book until now.
  7. Would you mind sharing when you bought it and how much you paid? About 5 or 6 years ago, paid Guide 'Good' value at a shop in CT. Wasn't cheap, but it's better than Good. Thanks for the info. I would have certainly done the same!
  8. I just picked up a Cardinal Mindzenty along with other Catholic mags and some Treasure Chests from the early 1950s. This is the second copy I've owned in 35 years.
  9. Would you mind sharing when you bought it and how much you paid?
  10. I had a double cover of this issue too. I think I sold it at the Chicago Con in 2011. Can't be same book with old label, but what are the chances of that?
  11. Greatest thread in the history of the Internet.
  12. Love the book, but a gift grade for sure! That's a fine?
  13. Paul Reinman I think. Not so sure. Even when he was hurried he was better than this...
  14. It's been two months since BZ posted. I hope all is well.
  15. Fascinating, TB. Thanks for taking the time.
  16. Another amazing buy, Jeff. You truly have a keen understanding of collecting. I'm impressed.
  17. The Action 54 and Young Allies 3 are still available. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6208494#Post6208494
  18. (back at March 15 2007) Now, this only means that an Action 1 was not in the "large" acquisition of 1973. He may have added one later. What does it matter though? No one has every book, but I appreciate that BangZoom bought comics at the "top of the market" rate way back when, held on to them and is sharing them with us now. Anyway, here's an opportunity to toast a "true collector". Here's to you BZ
  19. I'm sorry, but this is so undeserved. It's pretty clear that you don't know who you are 'talking' to on these boards. If so, you might not be so confident in your 'expertise.' When it comes to the hobby we talk about on these pages most of the time, I'll take Moondog's opinion over yours any day. OPINION duly noted. Moondog is truly an expert in the field of comics and one who is very well respected. He's also a very bright, thoughtful and kind person, overall.
