  1. Never thought they were all that rare, Steve. I've had one for 20 years and actually passed on a small stack of them once.
  2. Joe knows what he's talking about. I would never buy from this scammer again.
  3. This is my favorite pic of all of BZ's treasures. A small nose Snoopy Peanuts just casually tossed in there. Nothing major. Yikes. Isn't that a Jack Davis story from Tales of Suspense?
  4. Very astute! Remarkable! You are incredible, Scrooge!
  5. I do not have the sooper dooper, but do have all the centaurs (the early Clocks were either Ultem - Ullman Temerson or Comic Magazine Co. Also got to help Bob B. id his book....jon Here's the splash from Super Dooper # 1. Can you identify, Jon? I just picked up nice copies of Super Dooper Comics 1 and 2 (Able 1946). Clearly they are reprints of what appear to be early Centaurs. Does anyone know what books these reprints are from? # 1 has an appearance of the Clock... They have paper covers and are 32 pages. I'm trying to avoiding scanning the interiors... Thanks! --Gary The Clock started in Funny Pages 6 (teaser) and then went to a couple of stories in Funny Picture Stories (first full story) then to Feature Funnies then to Crack.....The tip off is the name of the by line "Alias The Clock" (not the Clock Strikes). The winner?----FPS #1 from November 1936 (Hey, what is the phrase....."the super detective" (Man! that man from Krypton ripped off The Clock!!!) Thanks, Jon. Beautiful books!
  6. Great taste in archives WP. Your stack looks like mine: Spirit and Plastic Man mostly. You're only missing the Blackhawk archive there. (thumbs u I do need to pick up both the Sandman and Starman ones. Is that anyway to treat a phone book? You may have to stack some comics on it to "press" it flat!
  7. I have thousands of records, too. GA Forum Movers Inc: "We'll clear you out in a day!" I think the motto should be, "We'll clean you out in a day!"
  8. As well as my late friend Dan Barry. If you ever had the chance to meet and spend some time with Dan you were in for a treat. He was quite a personality. When I was co-owner of the Chicago Con I had the good fortune to spend 2-3 hours with him one afternoon. Quite an interesting guy - and a helluva artist!
  9. For PV, Best are the 3 volumes (Year 1 - 3) from Manuscript press that are slightly bigger than the recent Little Nemo edition. (OT: Shouldn't it have that have really been called a Big Little book). The Fantagraphics offer a way to get the complete set and are very nicely produced -- I believe Scrooge scanned from it for his post. I would avoid the Nostalgia Press editions -- only a few volumes were created and they not of the highest quality (they were good editions at their time of printing). There may be another large size version coming out of Germany but my memories may be getting cross-wired and I have no link. Several of the Fantagraphics editions go for more than cover price because of the small print runs. I picked mine up as they were produced so I don't keep up with the prices. For Flash Gordon, I would go with the Kitchen Sink editions. There is a new edition of the strip but it's not getting glowing reviews was the main write up from the Amazon staff. Member comments are more positive. link Adam is correct. I have the Manuscript Press 3 volumes (1937-1939) as well as the Fantagraphics. I strongly recommend the MP. They were done with incredible care.
  10. Just noticed that Super-Dooper 1 is a Gerber 8. Anyone have copies of this book?
  11. I would have to see the insides. Remember The Clock continued in Crack Comics by Quality. jon I'm convinced this is very early Centaur, Jon. I'll photo/scan soon. Do you have these books? I do not have the sooper dooper, but do have all the centaurs (the early Clocks were either Ultem - Ullman Temerson or Comic Magazine Co. Also got to help Bob B. id his book....jon Here's the splash from Super Dooper # 1. Can you identify, Jon? i will take a look this week-end...jb No hurry. Thanks in advance, Jon.

  15. They caused a bit of a stir at the time didn't they? I think I posted them in the Golden Age group shot thread. There was a positive response from a couple of people, but not too much of a reaction. The stir was when I started this thread and posted scans of several early All-American Comics. That seems really odd to me now because All-American doesn't seem to be all that popular a title among the collectors here. It must have been a slow night. Ah, but what a night to remember! I was the second person to respond on your thread BZ, and I've been happy to have clicked on it many, many many times!
  16. My oldest was a Whiz 20. I have a buddy who has an X-Men 1...
  17. These books must be trimmed - no chipping!
