Yeah, I remember by around #92-93 people were starting to talk about Liefeld as the next McFarlane. Isn't that also when X-tinction Agenda was going on, so they would've probably increased production for that crossover too.
Issue 100 was huge, as it was advertised as the lead up to X-Force #1. I bought a bunch of them. I even had buddies that didn't even care for the title buy a bunch of them.
It was definitely a big issue for a series coming to a close. And when you read the letters section, there were already many readers taking an interest in Deadpool appearing in future issues based on what they read in NM 98. He wasn't hot yet. But he was part of a series that was heating up quickly. And enough to qualify for one of the X-Force #1 cards.
Those are some seriously deformed legs!

Holy , is someone keeping track of this? CGC and PGX have the same grade! Amazing!
Right?! I called CGC to check on the status of my book. I was somewhat confident that CGC would have given it a 1.8, but I was super stoked when I was told that It was the same grade!

I just bought a MP7 from bounty_coder. Everyone who sells and packages comics can learn a thing or two from this guy. I mean, I thought my packaging skills were good, but his packaging methods should be considered a form of beautiful art!

I guess so on that one. This was in person though, so i'm not even sure what the current going rate on ebay is. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the seller had tried ebay and got it returned to him or something due to it's ugliness, so this one maybe shouldn't count anyway. I've looked at thousands of cgc 9.8's and i honestly think this is the worst i have ever seen. It's like the grader was watching the mid season finale while he was grading it and was like "Walking dead, Helll yeah! 9.8!!!!"
Ha! Probably! CGC gave my copy a 9.8, but I truly think it was 9.9. It was one of the most flawless books I'd ever seen. I bought It when it first came out and bagged and boarded, and I don't think I ever read the darn thing. But whatever.
Here's the last 9.8 ebay sale. Sold for $1750. Not bad, but nowhere near the $2500 average it used to be.

Just figured i would update with a bit of sales data:
Sold a #3 cgc 9.8 for $500 today
Got $600 for a #19 9.8 a month or so ago
Got $200 for a raw NM+ #53 (wha?) but the cgc 9.8 i marked at $300 hasn't gone anywhere. (probably a bit on the high side on that one atm)
Also, was offered a #1 cgc 9.8 white at $1500 but turned it down because it was probably the biggest gift 9.8 i have ever seen. Literally 12-15 spine ticks. I would think it was over graded in a 9.4 holder honestly. Otherwise, i would def. pay $1500 for a legit 9.8 black, but i doubt there are many sellers at that point yet. I'm thinking after this season it's a possibility. My 2 pennies.
So with the WD 1 CGC 9.8's selling at around $1500, I think that's about a $1,000 price drop from about a year ago.

That 98 really is always missing from the pile, or at least it seems that way. I actually got pretty lucky last month and found a guy selling some comic books out of the trunk of his car for only $1 a piece. Take a wild guess as to what was in there. Thats right, NM 98. I should have kept it and sold my CGC 9.8, instead I decided to sell that one. Anyways, I'm not sure if I'll ever buy another copy for that cheap.
