  1. I really dont like robocop geez... But who can deny that Miller's involvement with a major film company was groundbreaking at the time??
  2. It was not a B movie because it was: 1. Not produced/distributed independently 2. It was a follow up for a profitable first movie 3. Produced with a major film budget It actually didnt do as bad as most other Orion pics at the time, but it wasnt a major hit as well
  3. What sucked more was actually the comic BASED on the movie. But all that isnt the point. The fact that this was the 80s/90s and a major film company chose Frank Miller, a comic book writer, to write a story for one of their feature films, shows that there was curiosity among movie maker in comic books which accurately led to much bigger things. Both for Miller and comic books in film history
  4. Robocop 2 was a major Hollywood film.. It may have not been a major hit, but not an obscure film either I liked it, but calling it a major film just seems flimsy. It's a B movie. Robocop was produced by Orion, who was partially owned by MGM (which also distributed it alongside 20th Century Fox and many others).

  6. That was his very first gig in Hollywood as well.. So although most consider Tim Burton's Batman to be the stage 1 of comic book's rise into Hollywood, Robocop was just as important to the medium by accepting a prolific comic book writer to provide a storyboard for a major film
  7. Was your sale featuring Greggy's severed head on your table? Maybe that is why you have trouble reeling potential customers in. I heard he scored this gem:
  8. I say pitch RQ to Marvel so we can have a million variants and reboots for this biiii
  9. {spooky voice} "Take me to your UF#4 9.8s!!"
  10. The trees in your sig line are cool. It was supposed to be scary
  11. Kinda like the situation with most independent books on the market
  12. Can anyone find a spoof of this sort of thing.. I think it may have been a SNL skit but it could have been "In Living Color" or a show like that. The guys were selling something on TV and had a "fire sale" and actually appeared to burn the place down... and then the sale ended and they put out the fire and moved onto the next item. It was brilliantly funny...can't find it anywhere! Matt Foley comes to mind
  13. Next time use google maps and street view to see the area prior to making the drive. That will help you find the place as well as let you know what to expect without getting into the car. Or use Deckard's photo enhancing machine
  14. Nah its new book day. Time for people to start posting how many copies of each book they got from each store they visited today. Ahhh, forgot about that, you're right!
  15. The print run estimate has to be the weakest reason I have ever heard to buy a book. Makes no sense. They usually get me to buy WHEN THEY TYPE IN ALL CAPS!!!!!!!! tho
  16. I estimate that this thread will go into print run estimates mode once more, estimating that the weekend is near
  17. Theres only one non WD artist that can probably nail a killer variant/cover for the series This guy
  18. Yeah Craigslist could be scary at times. And I swear, my best scores were the ones I was very apprehensive about. Always tell family friends where you're going for a pick up. Always make sure you get a phone number. Some of them wanna communicate by email only. I don't go if that's the case. Every time when I walk into someone's house I am on the phone when the person greets me pretending I'm on the phone with my partner. "Yes I arrived here at 23 such and such street, Astoria NY.. And I'm here with.. Im sorry what's your name?" But truthfully most of the times the sellers are the ones who are worried about getting a stranger into their house. So it helps when u walk in and break the ice w a little humor. Also helps with getting a good deal at the end
  19. I worry that people that just get into FM work today will not understand what Miller was to mainstream comics in the 80s. I remember being big into titles like Batman, Superboy & LOSH, Hulk & Defenders as a kid and then all of a sudden I just saw those FM DD covers. That's it. That's all it took to get me to wonder what was inside the book. Those covers just looked DIFFERENT than anything ive ever seen in comics. Dark, avant garde, emotional. This didn't look like a superhero comic book to me anymore. Up until then no one really reinvented a superhero. With the exception of probably Neal Adams short stint on GL. FM changed the rules of mainstream comics before it was cool to do so. The real question is.. Was he aware of it?
  20. New interview with the master
  21. I found at least 10 NM98 in the past 2-3 years and only one BA12. All were cheap craigslist finds in the tri state area. But thats just me
