WOW that is what I thought. Im pretty sure that they went after something more surreal and out of the box to make it stick out more. But anyone can interpret it as they want.

I dont know if batman 40 is bad as an art piece, its very Magnoila-esque. It seems to me as if its more of a conceptual piece than an actual depiction of whats happening sequentially in the book. But in that regard, it does stick out of the norm. we'll only know after reading the book

Compared to the original cover, that is pretty badly drawn, quite a poor homage. And I am not "emotionally involved": I do not read DCs… couldnt disagree more, but hey, thats art for ya right? Clever concept with better light+shadow renderings on #58 Sketchier? yes, but sometimes less is more.. The central character, joker in this instance, sticks out more than deathstroke in #1, mainly due to the color scheme. I prefer this to the Mike Zeck cover, and I am a HUGE Zeck fan

OK heres my beef with the star wars action figure variants and so far, most of marvel action fig variants - they dont look real. I mean seriously, just look at them, they all look like very neat paintings but they dont look like an action figure. Those are 2 dimensional renderings of action figures - boring! And to add insult to injury - Now they are B&W Sketches??? I mean, why call them action figure variants at all then? Look at the Spread #1 2nd print action figure cover- I swear when I first saw that beauty I thought it was an actual action figure!

Keith would make a great Joker, did you see the Breathe video? I played with them in St Louis in 97, keith was always a mental case, even more so behind stage. Liam is a musical genuis
