  1. I disagree. I see combo packs as a long loooong term investment. If hoarding is your business - thats what you may wanna speculate in. You disagree. I get it. But if you had a crystal ball would you see 35 cent "variants" as collectibles? Lets get all the facts straight and leave our personal opinions out; Combo packs are printed in the low thousands. They ARE variants. Combo Pakcs are DEFINITELY not heating up. There are over 600 of them available on the bay for less than cover no one seems to buy them. When combo packs will be highly sought after, trust me you will know All good points here. You are right combo packs are not heating up. For me now is the perfect time to start hoarding combo pack keys and trust me, there aren't that many. I suspect the poorly received New 52 will go down as one of the most unsuccessful eras in comics. Despite some exceptions; Animal Man, Justice League 3000, Swamp Thing, I Vampire, Multiversity, selected Batman titles and a few others, it's been an underwhelming venture for DC. Granted I know nothing of sales numbers and the New 52 may very well be a financial success but critically it's been Between the New 52 and Helix I cannot decide which I want to disappear more. Marvel westerns and horror books in the 70s were dogs as well but try finding a 30 cent variant of kid colt or weird wonder tales in the wild.. Who knows how history will play out for combo packs? I wouldnt buy a combo pack at an inflated price, because I dont know what will happen with that book, but a Sandman overture may be a great investment at their current price point. Also, since sales were so poor on combo packs before DC discontinued them, it is fair to assume that the later combo packs have an even lower print run. Again, if you have an empty comic box and a bill to blow, fill that sucker up with $2-3 combo packs from recent months and forget it ever existed for another decade.
  2. Or the seller is a genius and bought out the print run before spreading Terry's article all over the Internet. Now he can supply all the speculators as they sell to each other. A little of both I imagine. Arcane Comics wouldn't do that. They've always had a ton of copies of the combo pack issues, but have lately been selling a lot more of them than usual, so they checked the completed sales on eBay and bumped their prices up. Nothing wrong with that, its a good shop. But hey look at this: http://comicbookinvest.com/category/market-report/top-10/ Last 3 books mentioned in this thread: Batman 35 combo pack. Check. Justice League 1 2nd print combo pack. Check. Batman Annual 2. Check. So lets stop pretending its all a result of a natural increase in demand for these issues. There is a JL 1 3rd print combo as well. That should have an even lower print run, right? For some reason the market decided that JLA #1 2nd print is their favorite cover. JLA #1 2nd IS a sought after book. So is the combo pack variant

Hey, I can assure you I have no affiliation with no one. None. I dont even know why I have to explain myself before posting this, but I guess I want to make sure that people are aware that Im as neutral as possible with my speculations. All my research is done from spending more time than I should on the Bay, please dont tell my boss. If Im reading it right the list you included above was compiled on April 3rd. Outstanding sales for Batman 35 & JLA #1 2nd print combos were reported on the bay earlier last month. Just making sure we get all facts out here, that's all. Not looking to start any war with anyone My issue isn't with you or your discussion/speculation in regards to the new 52 combo packs. You brought it up in this thread which is why I'm addressing you. All I'm saying is that there is a lot of bad information out there in regards to these issues and to look before you leap. I agree.. I just dont think that the bats 35 and jla 2nd have much to do with misinformation. JLA 1 2nd is a rare book regardless of combo pack variant or not, I would imagine that a lower print variant of the same cover would make it more desirable by collectors. Same is more or less true with Batman 35, its a 10-15 book albeit of a short print run. The fact that a low print variant is out there will just make it more lucrative with collectors I assume. I also agree that Arcane comics is a great seller.. He sells alot of books and wouldnt jeopardize his reputation with stiffing buyers on a book.

  6. My thinking too. I like the character and I like her long term prospects. Couldnt you show up a lil earlier mister
  7. I can assure you that a batman 35 combo pack will not last a day on the bay at $20 at this point
  8. Try telling Spider Gwen's fans that shes dead and buried, see how far that will get ya.. More here too
  9. Another combo pack rarity.. 4 more days to go and already at 42.00 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Justice-League-1-RARE-2nd-Print-Combo-Pack-Mint-in-Bag-New-52-2012-Geoff-Johns-/281651920457?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4193c33e49
  10. Agree. I havent read any of the End Game books, but there seems to be a serious buzz over these. Curious, does the story changes anything or introduces new characters in the Batman continuity?
  11. Yes. The speculators have left the building on this one. Until she'll be optioned for a movie or something. Now Gwenny is only stuck with her fans. Oh, the humanity
  12. Or the seller is a genius and bought out the print run before spreading Terry's article all over the Internet. Now he can supply all the speculators as they sell to each other. A little of both I imagine. Yup, this guy obviously noticed a pattern when he listed sets of 10s & 5s and they were gone within hours of listing. So now it seems that he's trying to make the most while still keeping his price the lowest on the Bay... This happens on ebay ALL THE TIME with dealers. A few months ago I pointed out a seller that had sets of EOSV#1-5 for 15.00 a set. SHIPPED! This was when EOSV #2 was going for approximately $15-20 a copy. Needless to say, the seller has sold all his stock within hours.. It went from 15 to 20 to 40.. I think he sold well over a 100 sets.. Just gotta look and youll find them
  13. I beat you to it here I still think that there will be a day where combo packs will be very sought after. They have every right to be, they have a significant lower print run based on what we see @ Comichron.. They have a diff color scheme (think sketch variants here), theyre bagged, have a digital code of course and a different price tag (think 35 cent variants here) - as I said- they have every right to be treated as collectible variants. Will they? I dont know. There are plenty combo packs out there that are super affordable, so the combo pack apocalypse has not hit us yet. But certain combo pack editions, mostly keys, have appreciated well over the original 1st prints. Batman 35 is one of them. That is all
  14. All based on the false information that there are only a few hundred copies of the combopacks printed. If that were even close to being true Arcane must have purchased half the print run. Is that an overstatement or an exaggeration? Neither. You can buy 9.8 slabbed copies of that book, with different cover art, for the same price. So clearly all of these sales aren't the result of a genuine interest in the book itself - that being the story and interior art. Perhaps its the cover artwork creating a demand for that book? Except you can buy a NYC con variant with pretty much the same cover art for a significantly cheaper price. Or the standard first printing of the book, which also has the same cover artwork, for an even cheaper price. Must not be the cover artwork either. In today's market a book selling for 5,6, 7 times what it was selling for a week ago is nothing new. But when that upswing just happens to coincide with incorrect information regarding the print run of said book getting posted all over the internet... You can buy single digit Batman combopack issues, the court of owls books, for half the price that issue 35 is selling for and those books don't see their combo variants sell for 3x what the first prints sell for either. You really believe the uptick in prices for the issue 35 combopack is simply because a natural increase in demand for that specific variant for that issue? C'mon man. I hope everyone here can make money off that book, but lets not pretend that the movement behind it has any basis in reality. Its being sold on false information and buyers are ready to eat it up.

  16. They're both from the same seller and other copies of those comics are going for $2-5... Hmmm. Yeah, they're both from me. I'm the seller. What are you getting at? I notice a severe symptom of Divadism Mr Chip.. I recommend an immediate block divad option taken twice daily for a quick recovery
  17. If so.. Shuoldnt it get a higher grade and an equivalent to a GLOD?
  18. Anyone heard about this? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Marvel-Edge-Of-Spider-Verse-2-Signed-CBCS-Manufacturing-Error-Rare-Autographed-/141624232816?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20f9764b70
  19. Demon #1 vol 1 should be flying off the virtual racks any second now
  20. Wow. Are you getting any books signed by them? I doubt it. You have to win a ticket drawing to get into the signing. I think if I wait in line for the ticket drawing at 9:30am, I'll have trouble getting into the 10am Superman: The Richard Donner Years Celebrity Super Reunion panel, which sounds really fun. thats a shame, you cant simply just pay for their sigs?
