  1. Unfortunately, a natural disaster isn't gonna try figure out what holds more value
  2. Wow. They're all going away. RIP
  3. i like when eBay tells me "you missed out on this item" and I'm like..
  4. How is that? Only yesterday they "announced" Dove as part of a DC TV show, not even a movie, and showcase 75 are selling like hot cakes. That's a silver age book I couldn't move to save my life up until now. Many other examples but that's just a recent one
  5. Youre right. Theres a place for people that do that for just about everything else in life its called facebook
  6. I was about to say the same thing.. those who are selling a 1000 book for 1200 OBVIOUSLY do not report those figures to uncle sam
  7. Of course theyre jokes, Marvel is applying their comic book marketing tactics to TV shows. Put out as many as you can with low budgets, the name should make them relevant. Rinse and repeat until we beat that horse to death
  8. This is so true. That anticipation for me began with Action Annual 1.. By that time I have already studied every panel from all his books, there werent alot. The only other artist I was excited about at the time was Dave Stevens and he put out books ANNUALLY and wasnt as big as Art or as influential as him. Why did people give Art hard time for being slow, and stevens not, is beyond me. Quality should ALWAYS come over before quantity when it comes to art
  9. As far as percentage vs amount discuss... it all depends on the market. With a market like ours it most likely pays off to make percentage because of demand and profit margin. Real estate in comparison makes more sense to deal with much much smaller percentage when flipping because the amounts are astronomical and the demand is much bigger. Flipping a 50,000$ comic is a lot more difficult and time consuming then flipping a house for the same amount. MOST collectors and even dealers don't deal with these amounts on a daily basis Flipping a few 25$ comics for 75 is more realistic. There are always exceptions to the role but if I were to be realistic I would always look to make at least 3 times the amount I have invested in a book and at least anywhere from 15-30% the amount on a house My recent good flip was actually on Craigslist. I picked up hundreds of Manga books from a retired dealer a few months ago and flipped them same week for 3,500 profit. Was the easiest cash money I ever made off comics
  10. I dont think the movie spec age is losing steam. In fact I think there are more trends added to it If anyone told me last year that 90s Image drek newsstands are selling for big bucks Id have them checked in the nearest hospital. Blame it on disposable income. Until the economy doesnt hit a ditch, expect to shed more money on (possibly) worthless currency
  11. I have another thread that touches on this subject here somewhere ?
  12. What's really sad is that Art got swallowed in an ocean of imitators and prolly tried to cut corners in order to produce quicker. Had he kept perfecting his craft even sticking to just doing covers he could've became a household name much like Stevens, Hughes. Personally I even think Frazetta
  13. I just buy em cause the DCU logo looks boss on books. Its the Frazetta sig of UPC boxes
  14. I was comparing books in the mid/late 80s to today. I think 87 was the first year that the market saw a huge bump in (then) current trending books and less with established bronze keys. Bronze X-Men were still the sh*t, but IH181 wasn't as big as a TMNT 1 or as trending as a Dark Knight Return 1. The Punisher Mini made ASM129 a 30$ book that year, that's a few bucks less then a Nexus magazine #1 back then even tho it wasn't commanding high prices, I remember I was more excited with Badger than I was with Wolverine, because the character was a lot crazier than Logan. And TMNT just made everyone speculate on print runs w indie b&w funny animals books. It truly was the WD of the 80s. Take any of those books that were speculated on back then and look at them today and you'll find only a handful of them that lasted. Most aren't even known today. thats why I don't speculate on moderns for the long run
  15. I was actually not being sarcastic he does suck nowadays. He was a god in the 80s
