  1. Another artist that went through the same artistic shift that comes to mind is Keith Giffen. He went from tight renderings ala Perez to very obscure and 2 dimensional drawings.
  2. I think that Miller chose this shift in style for whatever reason. He could draw pretty horribly in the 80s if he wanted to
  3. This is amazing. I always thought that the 2 biggest Frazetta clones were Schultz & Stevens. But although Stevens was amazing, his drawings were always so tight. Almost perfect. They always looked as if he spent hours perfecting a piece. With Schultz it always seemed natural and looser... this piece demonstrates it perfectly!
  4. Asm300 is a serious candidate. For so many reasons. It's def an IH181 comp even tho it's not a 70$ book anymore. I would say that it's THE ultimate venom key and THE ultimate Mcfarlane book
  5. Def make it a solo movie, no big budget, killer soundtrack.. funny as hell.. kinda like Deadpool meets 300
  6. Def a solo movie. And no, they shouldn't cast a well known actor for Lobo. They need to go wth personality here. Think about how Marvel back in the day cast Lou Ferrigno for Hulk. Lou wasn't acting here, but his personality, and fitness made him the Hulk. To me, Lou will always be the ultimate Hulk. The same can be said about Hugh. He wasn't a big movie star when they cast him to play wolverine. But he just fit the bill perfectly. To many, Hugh Jackman IS wolverine
  7. Yeah but a He-Man comic book would never burn hot like an IH181
  8. Im calling it.. Omega-Men #3 to be the IH181 of 2040 See ya in 23
  9. WTTB Adam ant While the listing looks like a Goody Two Shoes, I hope that the seller Stand And Delivers!
  10. Curious why isnt this listed in comics general.. Could get more boardies involved .. Like @kav
  11. Why list them as 9.8 when you can list them as 9.9 or maybe a 10.0!!
  12. This book is a no brainer. Not sure it will ever get to IH181 status but its still a buyers market with this book
  13. Lobo seems to me like it would be any action/sci-fi movie writer dream come true. Such a fun character to play around with. I would love to see an off the wall twisted sci-fi action movie with him. With tons of R rated scenes, screaming distorted oscillators, aliens vs mutants head bashing action scenes and a pair of protruding breasts thrown in for good measure.
  14. cough cough BA12 cough I think EOSV2 is a no brainer as well, but like I said earlier, even though Im POSITIVE it will double, maybe even triple in the near future, it still is a 3 year old book and hasnt been through the turmoils of decades worth of collecting proving it to be a bullet proof sustainable investment.
  15. Sh*t Im just thinking about it and... Damn DC!! Come on guys, how can you not give this guy the push that he needs to cross over from a B lister??! Lobo is truly the badass that Wolvie always was, prolly badder. The only thing he needs is just a great actor that can channel that badassesnes to the big screen. Thats it. Youre done. Is that too much to ask for???
  16. That was EXACTLY what I was thinking about IH181 in the 80s
  17. A good established key of a good/bad type of character would probably be Omegamen #3 Probably not as overprinted as IH181, but comparable nonetheless... ... Oh, and a 1st appearance at that... ... With him on the cover... ... Oh and its red too
  18. I didnt even know Faust had a movie. And yes, Faust was very much the badass version of wolverine in the late 80s, but he was slowly dying along the rest of the B&W indies as soon as Image took the helm
  19. Yup I didnt even realize it has picked up steam. I got my copy at Koch's Warehouse in 2013 for 75.00. On a side note, if Grendel does end up getting picked up as a movie and gets his swag back on, this could be a much pricier book than IH181 because of supply of course
  20. I do agree with this statement, but I still think that there are a few books that would fit the bill, pun intended. I picked up the 80s as a comparable era to today, as it was right about now that 30 years ago (1986-87) comic book speculating has become a thing. 1986-7 were the first years that I heard people talk about certain books that they bought just to speculate on. We know what those books were, most of them were independent books (because of the perceived print run) and some hot new "mature" DC titles (because of Dark Knight). Very few were investing or speculating in Marvel because they simply havent had such tremendous appreciation in value overnight like the indies and Dark Knight did. Not to say that they werent selling of course, but they just werent speculated on as much. That all changed when Spider-Man 1/X-Men 1 came out.. Actually maybe even Ghost Rider 1. But just think about it for a moment. No one ever speculated on IH181 in the 80s like they did with other trending books. It was a key book then, kinda like... I dont know... A Star Wars 1 is today (ta-daaa, here's a 70.00 dollar book for ya). Wolverine was very popular then, but not as popular as Star Wars is today. IH181 was indeed a key back then, but not what it is now. I remember going to SDCC in 1991 and seeing IH181s for 40-50$ and spending the same amount of money on a bagged signed McFarlane Spidey #1 thinking it was a no brainer! Thats kinda what Im looking to achieve with this thread, find a book that is already an established key now, but not being speculated on. People mentioned Spider-gwen, and I think thats a good example. The only thing is that Spider-Gwen (as much as I love that spec) isnt an established key as IH181 was in the 80s. Maybe we need to dig deeper
