  4. @ Hulksdaddy1 - thanks man and you being 15 in 1983 is nothing to shed any spider tears over man it just proves how awesome this hobby really is doesn't it?!! it has no age limit...We can all appreciate it for what is...AWESOME!!! just like the AF15 you got there (insert jealous look here) nice book man (thumbs u and as I typed that up in the wee hours of the night on my phone I realized I didn't make my pick...+1 with GAMBIT...I want an AF15 badly!! I do see a lot of possible short term growth with the TMNT book though with new film...as previously stated only time will tell about the long term sustainability but with the low print run and the high grade I would think this book is pretty safe...I would still take the AF15 though but I also got the spider blood coursing through my veins when it comes to funny books so I am biased to say the least...
  5. 10Damn punk kids. I know I will get off the lawn now!!! hehe
  6. I was 10yrs old in 1993...my pops used to read me Spider-Man comics as a kid...he is my favorite superhero of all time and always will be...in the same token the TMNT were ALL my friends and my favorite toys and cartoons!!! we had TMNT EVERTHING!!! our bday parties were always turtles and we dressed up as them for holloween from Bebop & Rocksteady, Baxter Stockman, MutagenMan, Antrax, Krang and his Android body, the list goes on and on and on of all the cool stuff!!! I see kids nowadays who ROCK both Spiderman and TMNT gear!!! it puts a smile on my face everytime knowing the stuff I love and grew up with is prolly gonna be cool when my son turns 10...I am gonna read him Spiderman and buy him all the cool TMNT gear!!! both books are supercool and both parties should be Extremely pleased!!!! well played on both sides guys (thumbs u congrats

  8. I know I speak for at least a few of us when I say we are jealous of you DK!!! 2 copies of Cap #1!!!! your undercopy alone could buy my Cap #3 at least 15 times over my friend hahaha!!!! u da man (thumbs u
  9. That was a pretty awesome deal for that book IMHO if that was a BIN...GPA has that exact copy being sold in Feb 2012 for $5200 with another CGC 4.5 going for almost $6500 a month prior to it with the same PQ (unsure of serial #)...that is surprising a seller would ask nearly 1K less not too long after acquiring it but hey maybe they needed the money and needed it fast who knows...awesome for the buyer...with the last GPA recorded blue label CGC 3.5 reaching almost $7,200 in Nov, 2013. I would figure this to be a least a $8500 book even with the slight miswrap and the PQ (lt tan-off-white) and it is in a old holder so who knows you could re-sub and possibly get a PQ bump...so +1 to DK's comments as this looks possibly too good to be true...
  10. Yours Ben? That's a beautiful recreation! isn't that a marvel variant cover ? VERY COOL and correct!!! I believe that it is from the Golden Age Cap Omnibus and they also did one with the original version as well...ME like!!!

  14. I am not much of an artist but I like to try sometimes...In light of my little dude being born I wanted to put something in his room that went with the theme and looked sort of like a Golden Age Comic...This is what I came up with...be gentle
  15. wow, bright copy! +1 Stunning!!! the way the Young Allies in white and red bounces off the black and yellow is truly awesome (thumbs u neat book!!
  16. a CGC 0.5 incomplete signed by Stan just popped up on the Bay for $10K OBO cover presents nicely but I doubt Stans sig brings that much premium...even on that book IMHO
  17. You really hit the nail right on the head. I've been fortunate enough to own some great books over the years, but none of them could compare to my Batman #1. If I had to choose between Tec #27 and Batman #1, I'd choose Tec #27 because of value and rarity but in terms of overall enjoyment, it's Batman #1 all day long. There's many more Bat pages in Bat 1 than Tec 27. And someone called the Joker I think. This is something that is a bit overlooked IMO. In the CGC era that we live in today, many books remain encapsulated. When looking at a slabbed Action #1 or Tec #27, it's easy to overlook the fact that the majority of those books are comprised of non-Superman and non-Batman content. Fewer stories, fewer pages = less history in respects to a page by page measure. While I do feel that the supporting stories of both books are a bit underrated, they still do not hold a candle to their superhero counterparts. If they did, pre-hero issues of Detective, More Fun and Adventure would sell at rates comparable to their superhero counterparts. Those of us who love the history of the medium can appreciate them, but we're not likely to see billion dollar film franchises based off of them either. Batman #1 doesn't just have bulk-content -- it introduced, arguably, the two most famous villains in all of DC Comics -- in addition to being the first issue of the solo series dedicated to DC's more popular hero. Joker, yes, but Catwoman is definitely not more famous than Lex Luthor. I beg to differ. Though it was a flop, Catwoman had her own feature film. It's debatable, for sure, but I do not feel that Luthor is more famous than Catwoman. Agreed. Luthor is anecdotal, at best, to the non comic collecting public. If known at all. Catwoman is broadly known (no pun intended) by the general public. I don't agree. Lex is known by my generation's non-comics readers from the Chris Reeve Superman movies, and to a younger generation from ten seasons of Smallville. He's far from anecdotal. Michael Rosenbaum
  18. well you won't get any arguments from me about the Beauty of that CLink 4.0 that one is nice...I am intrigued myself as to what the Batman 1-6 bound volume may fetch
  19. Did anyone honestly think it would? -J. to be honest I wouldn't have been surprised...I said earlier I though 8-10K being the ballpark with 10 being a bid that should be able to take the book home and 8K being pretty fair to both buyer and seller...let's not forget this is a BATMAN #1!!!...everyone is knocking this book I just don't think it that bad for the grade...BTW I was not the winner or even bidding just my congrats to the buyer if he is boardie I think it is a darn cool book
  20. Thanks man!!!!! I hope he enjoys them as much as his old man!!!! Now I know this Isn't an actual funny book but I finished this last night while there wasn't even a mouse stirring in the house and it I drew it to the LARGER THAN LIFE theme that we got going!! I am not much of an artist but it goes well with the theme of my lil' dude's room and I tried to make it look as close to a Golden Age book as my limited talent would allow... This is my long shot attempt at reaching my sons sub-conscience into liking comics I am going to frame it and hang it in his room...
