  1. Mushroom, do you collect OLD pinball machines? I've always wanted an ASM pinball machine but simply have no idea where to look to find one. Brian
  2. Sorry I'm just joking with you ..... it did, however, say hi.... Brian
  3. I used to collect cards of my favorite players and am extremely happy to hear that they (Alonzo Mourning and Fred McGriff) are basically worthless now. I do collect art on and off..no real favorite artists except Thomas Kinkade usually just buy stuff that catches my eye. Only other thing I "collect" is current and classic cars. Brian
  4. Yeh, there are some major dorks on that caveman game top 10. The game was originally posted on a gaming site that I took it off of and these guys were like playing...24/7. Brian
  5. Next time I'm home and at the bank, I just might.. Brian
  6. While I think Black Panther is a great comic book character..I think a movie regarding him might be a little too.."boring"? There's a lot of stuff regarding his background and his upbringing and of course they'll have to bring all that Africa stuff in..I think if they were to make a movie about Black Panther it would become far too "racially motivated"..and lead to either some boring long winded origins or a lesson-type movie.. However, I think ToD, Sgt Fury, and Ghost Rider would all be excellent movie choices. Brian
  7. I have begun sending in my personal collection. The grade it comes back with I usually agree with, if I missed something and it comes back lower then a 9.4..it goes. With a fully slabbed collection I can know exactly what I think I have plus what everyone else will think I have (i.e. most people could give two [!@#%^&^] about my grading, but CGCs?? now you're talking..so I have a universal barometer in order to continually upgrade my books) And btw, I've never sold anything from my collection except for that dupe run of ASM so I slab mine just have slab them Brian
  8. I've been slabbing my books, it's nice to get an independant opinion of your books.. Brian
  9. I haven't applied any argument, I was merely pointing out that a lot of books people thought were solid NM a long time ago are really VF's in today's grading enviroment. And by no means is the Church collection the rule, it's without a doubt an extreme exception to the rule. Brian
  10. And I'm sure when you went to open them all your "NM"'s turned out to be "VF"'s and your major keys turned out to be minor at best? It seems thats what happened when most people go back to their collections after a long time.. Brian
  11. Not to mention that out of a print run like that not necesarily every book was sent out..some were destroyed b/c of major problems, other possibilities as well. I highly doubt there's still even 100k copies of this book out there. Brian
  12. So any time I pay money for something I have to assume it'll appreciate in value? I've spent a ton of money on electronics and those certainly aren't worthy investments. I bought the book for the simple effect of b/c it was nice..the price was a by-product of it being nice. I bought the book now b/c it was a superior copy at a cheaper price then the other ones.. I don't foresee being able to buy this for 10 dollars any time soon and the opportunity presented itself to buy one so I did. Brian
  13. Yep, I've had that problem as well.. I'm glad I didn't buy much stuff in the early 90's or I think I probably would've been looking at a lot more junk then I currently have. :\ Brian
  14. I don't know, I think ASM 129 has slowed down due to Punisher being underexposed..either that or I just haven't seen where he's been popping up, except for the "mature rated" comics that come out occasionally. Brian
  15. Yeh I'm investing in it so I can get a couple hundred bucks... I'll be keeping this one, as I've said before I'm expanding into the rest of the Marvel universe and buying covers that I like. And why would I buy this one? B/c I already have 2 copies in lower grade..why buy another instead of just getting what I want?? Brian
  16. I would agree with Bruce, I bought this book just b/c I thought the cover was cool and I like Wolverine..the books was nice looking and the price was right, so why not. There are other reasons for owning the book then just for investments Brian
  17. Well they need to work on their grading then b/c a FF 52 with black marker all over the moon, and easily seeable spine stress isn't NM. Btw, what do you think of evolving standards of grading thus lowering the amount of truly high grade copies out there.. in some cases buying a NM in the early 80's would be the equivolent grade-wise of a VF+ at best now. Brian
  18. Neat Stuff isn't a good example for your point..what they call a NM, or so it seems from their auctions, is usually a VF. Brian
  19. I'd also like to point out grading strictness has evolved quite extremely over the past 30 years..a NM then could easily be a VF- or VF now. Hell just before CGC came out NM was probably a VF/NM now. Brian
  20. I'd guess there's 4 registered users that have spent over 5k on a book. It does sound like it really drops off after you go over a couple thou..but IMO there's a lot more ppl that would be willing to pay 1 or 2k for a book then most people think.. Brian
  21. I must say..this is a no-win situation for us believers that there isn't an infinite supply of books. If the census goes up a ton, it's proof some people are "emptying their warehouse", if it doesn't go up..well those warehouses are still waiting to be unloaded!! It's bs in my opinion, but that's obviously only an opinion. Brian
  22. It's possible there's 500 out there, but that's not what it sounds like some people are trying to say. IMO saying there's tons of hoarding and warehouses and boxes full of stuff..would equivoquate to that person meaning there's thousands more copies of each book in super HG.. Brian
  23. Are they selling? If not, I don't really care.. I'm talking about all these ppl who constantly claim warehouses full of comics and long boxes full of high grade keys..unless it becomes a reality, it's always going to be a myth. Brian
  24. When all said and done, I'll believe it when I see it..until then all these "warehouse" stories and "long box" stories are as much a myth as the Lochness Monster. Brian
