I’ve told others this, but I think a traveling museum exhibit would be tremendous. Hit 10 cities in North America and 15 others around the globe. Show some of the best and coolest from a number of collectors and let people see the books in person. Provide a few themes - super hero, PCH, sci-fi, romance, etc. Lots of “mainstream” keys - but even more oddities with cool stories. I think you could “wow” some new folk and help inspire another set of collectors.
Make it happen.

Can I request a Flash Comics 33 scan, please? Mine is stored offsite, or I’d contribute. My favorite “orange” cover of them all.

Possible to add Miss America Comics (Timely, 1944)? Many thanks.

Wow. Cool stuff in here. Sad I missed on that Frankenstein.

David bought a four-figure EC book from me. Payment was lightning quick and communication was great. Recommended highly.

I tried for Superworld #1 and got demolished. Wow, some STRONG bidding tonight.

I'll take it, per PM.

So love this book. Bad timing, or I'd be all over it. I think it easily passes the $50K mark.

Alright, here's mine. Just a 2.0, but one of the better 2.0s I've seen. I use to hold it often, but now she just gets periodic visits at the bank.
I'll upgrade at some point in the future, but happy with this ole girl.

Book 7
Another classic that likely needs no introduction.
Amazing man 6
Actually, they do.
I (along with several other lurkers) don't know a thing about the publisher or titles.
Although I'm not interested in collecting them, I do have a great fascination as to what they are about.
More intel, please.
I second this. Some backstory on these books would be great. I'd love to know more about each one. I'd guess Tabcom and I aren't alone. Moar!

Unless ComCav gets his book, I think Jimbo_707 should be on probation.

so... I'll take it? Barrister you have me hypnotized...
Nice! And super-fast! But I've already given it to someone slower. Maybe.

Sellers place a series of differing prices goes on the target and buyers simply have to "hit" one.
We can make a game out of it.
FUN!
Here's my problem with this: Your proposed targets are too clear. I think it should be a Magic Eye moving target.
Stare at this correctly, and it's a dolphin schooner. But imagine if it were a target. And moving. And had prices listed.

...I honestly did laugh out loud to this one.
Doc Joe is advocating like he's the one that made the post-deal bid for the book. You didn't, did you, Doc Joe?
Since Jimbo_707 and Doc Joe seem to be all for post-transaction plays, on ComCav's behalf, I plan on creating a program that monitors board activity. Then, whenever Jimbo_707 or Doc Joe claim a book, this program will automatically contact the seller and offer 20% more.
Then, since we don't really care about enforceability or follow-through, ComCav can just decide not to go through with any +20% deals that he doesn't like.
Joe is good people. I'll vouch for that. He may not be clear on this front, perhaps lowering standard business and contract expectations because we're talking about a hobby. Lots of people do that. I see it in comic art all the time. People think because it's comics or hobby that rules are relaxed, or that because it's outside of their day job that they don't want to deal with the same restrictions. I disagree with it, but it's not all that rare.
Fine, then. Automatic offers will only be 10% above Doc Joe deals.

a trophy for everyone! no obligations, just change your mind! ain't life grand?

the consideration is the amount agreed upon; doesn't have to have "changed hands." as defense counsel, i, in writing, agree to settle with the claimant for 100K--that amount is the "consideration" for the contract. if he or i try to back out, the aggrieved party moves for enforcement of the contract, and wins. doesn't matter that nothing yet "changed hands."
This.

I purchased a book from a major dealer a month ago
he emailed me the price 465
then (I suspect after looking into it) emails again saying
"sorry its a typo..its actually 665"
I just laughed because this has happened before, and I paid, I did not have a hissy fit. I could have changed my mind.
I see every transaction as being able to be changed by either party at any time until money is cashed or book in hand. For seller and buyer.
I have said I'll take it then backed out. I have said I'll sell it then backed out.
Its my money I can change my mind if I want to. Its my book I can change my mind if I want to. I don't even have to give a reason; I just changed my mind.
Just because someone if paying cash or whatever the seller can determine the shipping costs too. I have purchased art for 25K and still had to tack on 50$ for shipping. Seller can decide but so can the buyer.
I think Jimbo has every right not to do the deal and ComCav has every right to be pissed off. Don't deal with each other again and thats that.
Obviously the majority of the opinions seem to go in the other direction but just wanted to present an alternative point of view having done thousands of deals over the years (as I am sure many of you have as well).
Sounds like a great idea. So, let's turn each listing into a constructive auction. There will be implied terms, "Price is the price, unless someone offers the seller more at any point prior to shipment, then, well, too bad." Sounds like a great forum for business.
Unless you're trying to buy the book in question, I have no idea why you'd type that. This board is great because most view this situation differently.
-
While not the sole reason for my decision, there was something that bothered me very early on in my interaction with ComicCav. The listing stated, after the price, "+ actual shipping costs." The attached image shows the response that I received when I asked what shipping method he preferred and whether he wanted insurance.
The tone of the message made me uncomfortable. It is what started me thinking about whether I wanted to go through with the transaction with this particular board member. From what I remember, no other prospective buyer has tried to pressure me to throwing in free shipping after the fact. It wasn't about the dollar amount; the book could probably be shipped from Michigan to Illinois for $15, maybe less.
Direct question: Did you sell it to another board for more than your asking in the thread?

Chill the f out people
Is that the only letter, or can we have a few more?
For you my friend
Uck
I guess I just see it differently from times when money is taken and no book arrives etc
Over and out you savage rage monkeys
I am soooo tempted to change my board name to this.
Agreed. By the way, "savageragemonkey.com" is currently available. Best move quickly.

Just remembering how bad I felt, it was a BIG number you passed on. But so lovely a book, yay!
All good, though I continue to hope that the weight on your conscious from that will help dislodge a FN or better copy of Green Lantern 36... :-)
-
Amusingly, that book was sold to me! hahahaha. Ok, I've gotten some good deals from good people, no doubt, but it happens all the time.
You're so vain...I'll bet you think this post is about you...don't you, don't you?
-
I sold a book for $2800 that I literally got a $5000 offer on a day later. Didn't even consider trying to go back to break the deal. (Though I winced in pain in my chair as I read the offer.)
Would love to know the "valid" reasons for unilaterally backing out of a deal....
-
I've kicked myself a hundred times for letting things go a bit low. But, price listed is the price. Have to live with those things and forge ahead. Hope it's just a misunderstanding, like the rest of the gang.

Sold Rob an awesome Detective Comic. Four-figure book, paid on-time. Communication was great as we ironed out terms. Deal in confidence.
I'll pound you to a "Pulp" if you don't show off yours!

I still hope for the day a grading service starts taking pulps. Challenging ask, but I’d pay more than I do for comic format. That space is ripe to explode. Just needs grading, IMO.
