  1. Total from last time - 39 Fantastic Four 227-231, Ann 14-15 Getting very close to the point I had started reading regularly back in the college. Next up, Byrne! Avengers 205-209, Ann 9 Marvel Teamup 103-107, Ann 1-4 Amazing Spider-Man 216-218, Ann 1 Spectacular Spider-Man 53-56, Ann 2 The late Bronze Age Marvel reading continues. Some up, some down. Invincible 9-13 I'm starting to warm up to this series, interested to see where this takes me. Monstress 7-8 As soon as I fill out my scorecard, I think I'm going to be good for this book. Y The Last Man 32-48 Not much more to say from before - still enjoying, still my least favorite Brian K Vaughan series. Although we've had some good twists lately. Quick Stops 1-4 I think if you are one of those kind who can quote whole scenes of the Clerks movies, or the View Askewniverse in general, you probably would love this. As a casual fan, I liked it okay - found myself many times saying, "Wait, who is this again? Oh, Ben Affleck's character, okay." Although I will admit I have many laugh out loud moments with issue 4. Astro City: That Was Then Kurt Busiek. Astro City. Nuff said. Green Hornet One night In Bangkok Despite the footnote that said this took place at some designated point in "the current series" which I don't think really exists right now, it was aight. Maskerade 1-4 Enjoyed what was there, but please, don't give me "1 of 4", "2 of 4", etc, when it's only half of the story. The Wrong Earth Confidence Men It's Mark Waid, so of course it's good. But I'd say if you weren't familiar with the world at play, it was at minimum-Waid good. Something Is Killing the Children 21-28 Still enjoying this book, but same complaint as Maskerade above - I started reading the title again because I knew the story had finished. Or at least I thought it had, because there was a "Chapter One" in the middle there, but it was still the same storyline from the earlier issues - and now I have to keep everything straight thru at least March when issue 30 comes out. Not cool. So, if I added it up right, I've hit 105 for the year so far.
  2. Many years ago, I answered a classified ad (see, I told you it was many years ago) from someone wanting to sell his entire collection. He wouldn't break out individual issues, but he would sell you just one title. Which is how I got the portion of my X-Men run from 7-77 in one big bite.
  3. I'd say about tree-fiddy. Sorry, I'll now leave you to the more serious responses, although this is probably the most correct one:
  4. I don't know, it only says "Chroma-Tick" at the top instead of "Tick", and it only has the word "Color" 3 times on the cover. Well, and a completely different price. So kinda a judgement call, I'd say.
  5. According to USPS.COM: Effective January 22, 2023, Regional Rate Boxes will be discontinued. After that date, remaining Regional Rate Boxes can still be used for shipping, but they will be treated as weight and rate packages. Customers who currently use these boxes are encouraged to place orders before supplies are depleted. The recommended alternative for Regional Rate Box pricing is Priority Mail™ Cubic. Priority Mail Cubic is a sub-service of Priority Mail in which commercial customers ship items using their own packaging and the pricing is based on the outer dimensions of the package rather than weight. In addition: This option offers similar cost savings as Regional Rate boxes. Priority Mail Cubic packages must measure 0.5 cubic feet or less, weigh 20 pounds or less, and the longest dimension may not exceed 18 inches. Priority Mail Cubic has zone pricing with five price tiers up to 0.5 cubic feet
  6. Yep - put in the same info as above, and PirateShip shows $10.48 for Priority Mail.
  7. Geez, is it some weird shape or something? Hazardous materials? Quick pricing shows under $12 for an "oversize package".
  8. My initial thought was the 300 books, but when I thought about it a bit, I came to the same conclusion you did.
  9. I would think your parole officer would like you better with 300 $100 books, harder to skip town than with a single $30,000 book.
  10. Fell short by a handful last year, looking to make up for it in a big way this year. The start so far: Avengers 201-204Fantastic Four 226Spectacular Spider-Man 49-52Amazing Spider-Man 211-215Marvel Team Up 101-102 Continuing with my reading from the beginning of each series, have gotten to early 1981, I believe. Y: The Last Man 24-31 Not much more to say than before, still enjoying this, but still my least favorite Brian K. Vaughan series that I've read. Invincible 5-8 Starting to get more into this one, particularly with the shocking plot twist in issue 7! Monstress 1-6 Daughter gave me this for Christmas 2021, finally gotten around to reading. A very beautifully drawn book - when it's not creepy, that is - and an interesting story. I get confused at times with what is going on - and some of the characters look too similar so I lose track of who is who - but I think I'll keep reading. Unprepped 1-5 I'm a fan of Chuck Dixon from back in his Batman days, so I thought I'd give this a try. There were a few good bits, but overall I thought it was a miss. Didn't really do much for me. Looks like a grand total of 39.
  11. Don't think I've ever heard of this, looks like a real kick!
  12. @Cat you should change your name to "CopyCat"!
  13. The DeFalco FFs were so bad that me, Mr. Completist, actually quit buying the title, perhaps the only time that has happened. Of course, recently, I realized that my list of missing issues (#1 and #5) was actually incomplete, so I had to put the part of his run that I didn't buy on my list. But I got them from the 50¢ boxes!
  14. Have you tried this recently? I wondered if for some reason a middle-click didn't work on those links, so I went to try it, and discovered that now a new tab opened with a regular left-click. So maybe your suggestion was taken?
  15. Last post, in my final run I went thru: Avengers 188-200FF 208-225Spectacular Spider-Man 41-48ASM 201-210Marvel Team Up 90-100Gun Honey Blood for Blood 1-4 Assuming I've added up correctly, that's a total for the year of 995.
  16. I doubt Shad's point is that the government shouldn't be efficient, merely that being "run like a business" isn't the answer. Businesses and governments are in, well, different businesses, and have different priorities. Between my wife and I, we have worked for the US Army, a small business, a Fortune 5 (not 500, 5) for-profit company, a think tank, one of the biggest non-profit companies, a midsized contractor company and then later for the major defense contractor who bought that company, as well as each of us having a period of being self-employed consultants. So, pretty much everything you can think of, and I can tell you, every one on those entities had practices that were stupid and inefficient, just in different ways.
  17. I think it's fair to count in "comic book equivalents." At the very least you could translate to the bigger Annual size issues of a standard comic, and nobody would complain. (Not that anyone is going to complain regardless, haha)
  18. It's not looking good, guys... Marjorie Finnegan Temporal Criminal 1-8 Another fun little outing from Garth Ennis, soon to be a Major Motion Picture™! Fantastic Four 184-207, Annual 11-13 Just keep on keeping on.... Avengers 156-166, 178-187, Annual 8 Ditto... Let's see, looks like... 931.
  19. "Tax cheats" is a bit strong, even if literally true. The justification for increased funding for the IRS is the amount of owed taxes that will be collected when more resources are devoted to greater levels of investigation and audit, largely in the upper income categories (see: Willie Sutton). Dedicating resources by reducing the threshold so low, which requires the proverbial "grandma selling her sofa at a yard sale" to spend time and effort documenting that she didn't have a net gain, is not a good look. (I feel compelled to point to my previous posts in this thread to illustrate that I am with you on your general point, that this isn't a change in what taxes are owed.)
  20. Brief update, just to see where I am. Last time the count was 845 Fantastic Four 176-183 Continuing with my attack on the Bronze Age, with more early George Perez, both here and .... Avengers 136-155, Annual 6 Picking up some of those Avengers that I skipped the last time a made a run thru the title. Looks like 874 for the year. Yikes, it's gonna be rough to hit 1000 this year....
  21. you have no idea ho many times a day I say/send this to users. This such a standard IT response. Hmmm. Did you try unplugging it, and plugging it back in?
