  1. Can somebody remind me, am I supposed to grade these like I'm buying them, or selling them?
  2. I was all ready to post the but then you nickeled and dimed me on the shipping so no way!
  3. Oh don't worry, if I do better at this than you do, I will definitely laugh at you.
  4. So @skypinkblu did her mom thing, grabbed me by the ear and said to join in this contest, so here I am. But if there ends up being a waitlist for this, @CGC Mike, feel free to give my spot to someone more deserving. I hope you're happy, Sharon.
  5. What does my avatar tell you to do?
  6. I read the entire run last year, and thought it was great. I've been a big Tim Truman art fan since the 80s during the GrimJack period, but this was the first time I've read much of his writing.
  7. And I thought this going for over $2600 in the ComicConnect auction was ridiculous:
  8. Agreed. With the wear on the spine I probably wouldn't have graded it as high as VF, mostly because I don't buy stuff that nice and would be afraid of overgrading. But it certainly is a beautiful book. And I didn't catch that it was a single staple book, I thought it was just detached at one of the staples.
  9. That's a pretty big drop for that in a book that you thought looked so nice otherwise - I mean, my Overstreet Guide to Grading Comics lists "centerfold loose or detached at one staple" as high as VG+. Sounds like the kinda book I try to look for - really nice with some defect I don't care much about that drops it way down, haha. Thanks for the response, and glad it sold well for you.
  10. I'm curious about the one you graded VF that they graded as G+. Was this one of the centerfold issues? And what, exactly?
  11. We are probably pretty similar in age - my first encounter with the Legion was an old copy of Superboy #147, and I got into the book when they took over the title in the 190s. Picked up the odd issue from the Shooter era along the way as a kid - I think I had the middle issue of the Starfinger story, took me a while to figure THAT one out.
  12. So, 23 issues in January, let's see what's on the "read" pile that hasn't been reported. The Oracle Code - call it 7 issues Actually forgot to list this last time. A Christmas gift from my daughter, not quite what I expected, but still a good read. Strangers in Paradise Vol 3 #1-5 Continuing from last month, this time the Image issues. I think I agree with creator Terry Moore, SiP works better in black and white. Still head and shoulders above most stuff out there. To repeat from last month, if you haven't read this book, what's wrong with you, dude? FCBD Enter the House of Slaughter, The House of Slaughter #1-5 Set in the world of Something Is Killing the Children, this gives us a bit more background on both one of the supporting characters from SIKTC, and, well, the House of Slaughter. Liked the main title better, but this was still pretty good. Crossed + One Hundred #1-18 I haven't read any of the other Crossed series, but with it being set 100 years later AND being written (at least at first) by Alan Moore, I figured it was worth a read. And it definitely was. Maybe there were some things that I missed having not read any of the earlier stuff - and I may go back and read some of it, particularly the original Garth Ennis parts - but I think it stood very well on it's own. Black Hammer Reborn #9 Still enjoying this one, interested to see where Jeff Lemire takes this. (Yes, that is a direct cut-and-paste from my last update) Seven Secrets #1-12 Yet another friend from the local comic shop had to open his big mouth and recommend a book, and I don't know whether to love him or hate him. Because I definitely love this book, not that I need to be buying yet another title. This one has it all - ancient secret societies, forbidden love, sword fights, doomsday weapons, intrigue and betrayal, battle royales and combat by trial, snappy dialogue and huge cliches that somehow work. I'm really hooked, and really bummed that I will shortly have to wait a whole month for a new issue. Haven't been this stoked for a book since my daughter and I started reading Saga back during the lockdown. So, if I've counted correctly, that makes a total of 60 for the year. Need to step up my game....
  13. It's not my usual cup of tea, but one of my friends from the local comic shop recommended it, and I've really been enjoying it. My daughter also started reading it and likes it a lot.
  14. I read the first two volumes at the end of last year, and while I enjoyed it all, I kinda decided I'd had enough of that for the moment. I'm a bit out of date on my DC Universe stuff (like a decade or two), so I'm wondering whether I need to be "in the know" to read this, or whether it stands on it's own.
  15. My local comic shop manager has a thing each August called the 100 Back Issues a Week Challenge, where, you guessed it, you have to read 100 back issues each week for 5 weeks. In 2020 I decided to devote part of it to the Legion, and read the complete Adventure Comics run (as well as the assorted early "appearances" in other titles), the issues of Action Comics where it moved for a short period, and then the first half dozen Superboy issues. Highly recommended for a Legion fan - that Shooter run at the end of Adventure was classic.
  16. I will gladly pay you twice that sticker price for the #9. Just the kinda guy I am.
  17. Hake’s also extends bidding As does MyComicShop.
