  1. @zzutak Thanks man! I was able to find the book putting in 03/24 afterwards (even though it came out in January). I also didn't know about the census - that's cool to see! I have a feeling I'll be going down a rabbit hole soon looking at books in the census. Lol
  2. I am looking to submit Ultimate Spider-Man #1 that came out in January 2024, and get a spidey custom label for it. I'm headed to the Motor City Comic Con tomorrow, and ideally would like to print out my submission form and drop it off there instead of shipping it. However, I don't see it on the submission form at all (the FCBD edition shows up, but not the regular #1). While I know I can click on "Can't Find My Comic" and enter all the pertinent data, the only custom label that shows up when I do that is the "Universal Ringling" label (screenshot below). When I enter other books that show up in the database, there are plenty of spidey custom labels to choose from. Am I missing something?
  3. Ok, thank for the input everyone. I agree it presents well for a 3.5. This was the first book I ever got graded (I wasn't aware at the time there was such a thing as pressing), and the person that handled the book at CGC totally turned me off of submitting anything for a long time because of that tape pull. I guess I won't waste my time/energy/money doing a re-submit. I totally appreciate all of your input!
  4. No - it's on the front of the cover, but is really hard to see. When the CGC facilitator took the book out of the bag, the tape sealing the bag got stuck to the cover. When they tried to remove the tape, part of the cover came off with it, so we put the tape back on. Figured that was better than a piece of the cover missing.
  5. I'm headed to Comic Con this weekend, and was wondering if I should re-submit this Sig Series (Gerry Conway) book to get cracked, pressed, and re-graded. I thought the grade came back really low on this (3.5), so thought I'd see what you guys think this grade should be. One thing to note that you can't see in the photos: there is a SMALL piece of tape on the cover (that was the fault of the facilitator when I had this initially graded several years ago). It is small, but it is noted on the comments. I'm not really sure how much the small piece of tape on the cover will affect its grade. Any input is greatly appreciated!
  6. Definitely would be keeping them and not flipping them. I was honestly surprised I had those DC sketch covers, since I'm mostly a Marvel guy.
  7. I've got a couple blank cover DC books I'm going to have someone do a sketch on (not a famous artist; it's a guy I've bought a couple sketch covers from in the past). The books are: Action Comics #1000 and Grayson #1. The obvious choices would be Superman and Grayson respectively, but I thought I'd throw it out to you all to see if there are other cool suggestions. I'll probably have to send the books off to him in about 3 weeks so they're done in time for me to pick them up at the Motor City Comic Con and get them submitted for grading/slabbing. Please offer up any suggestions! I'm also looking to see if I can get my hands on a couple Marvel books for him to do as well (not sure I currently have any Marvel blank covers).
  8. Hit my goal with improving every round - even hit a couple of bullseyes. Thanks for the contest - it was great!
  9. Cool post. I noticed a few of these sites are no longer operational: heritagecomics.com collectorsassemble.com ComicCollectors.net (is now qualitycomix.com) pcei.com pgcmint.com colmorecomics.com vaultauctions.com goldlustcomics.com
  10. Thanks for the link! The minimum # of posts is 50. I went above that a week or so ago (it was actually my first post, which got rejected - lol).
  11. Wow - really cool books from the 40s. Cool to see.
  12. I haven't been able to find anything. I have some old Spideys that need to be wrapped up in their original covers.
  13. @Mgc015 Nice books! I've got all the same Spideys I still need to submit, and have been looking for a decent price on the 1st Echo. I also second the pressing service. I had a Sig Series book I had pressed - I would have hoped for an 8 or 8.5 before pressing (spine roll), and it came back as a 9.8.
  14. I'm new here, but agree 100%. This is not only fun, it will help me get a better understanding of what sort of grade I could expect from a book in the future. Thank you!
  15. I think I'm the cellar dweller after round 1, but this is a way to improve my knowledge. I'm here til the end.
  16. Fairly new to the forum & was just pointed here (I posted to an incorrect spot). This thread looks great - I love the Marvel Team-Ups, especially. Used to always love reading Torch vs Iceman. Submitted these at a Comic Con in November & I just got them back today.
  17. Thanks! That's what I've been using (looks better), but I wasn't sure if it really mattered.
  18. Should the shiny side be touching the comic, or the matte side? Does it matter?
  19. From what I can see, I'd say 7.5.
  20. I'm slowly cataloguing my collection in an app, and came across this one that I might submit. I'd get it pressed as well, but wondering what grade you guys think this would get.
  21. I think you might get an 8 out of that. Are you getting it pressed?
