  1. Wow - really cool books from the 40s. Cool to see.
  2. I haven't been able to find anything. I have some old Spideys that need to be wrapped up in their original covers.
  3. @Mgc015 Nice books! I've got all the same Spideys I still need to submit, and have been looking for a decent price on the 1st Echo. I also second the pressing service. I had a Sig Series book I had pressed - I would have hoped for an 8 or 8.5 before pressing (spine roll), and it came back as a 9.8.
  4. I'm new here, but agree 100%. This is not only fun, it will help me get a better understanding of what sort of grade I could expect from a book in the future. Thank you!
  5. I think I'm the cellar dweller after round 1, but this is a way to improve my knowledge. I'm here til the end.
  6. Fairly new to the forum & was just pointed here (I posted to an incorrect spot). This thread looks great - I love the Marvel Team-Ups, especially. Used to always love reading Torch vs Iceman. Submitted these at a Comic Con in November & I just got them back today.
  7. Thanks! That's what I've been using (looks better), but I wasn't sure if it really mattered.
  8. Should the shiny side be touching the comic, or the matte side? Does it matter?
  9. From what I can see, I'd say 7.5.
  10. I'm slowly cataloguing my collection in an app, and came across this one that I might submit. I'd get it pressed as well, but wondering what grade you guys think this would get.
  11. I think you might get an 8 out of that. Are you getting it pressed?
  12. I'm thinking maybe a 2.0. That's a cool oldie to have in your collection!
  13. Interesting reading about the MJ insert that could cause issues. If what they told you is true, I would think a 9.4 would be realistic. Good luck!
  14. I'm not even going to add up my points from the first round. I don't have enough fingers and toes for that. I graded much too harshly apparently. Really makes me want to resubmit a 3.5 ASM #129 I have that I don't think has as many problems as some of the ones we just looked at. My goal is to get better every round. I left myself plenty of opportunity to do that in round 2.
  15. It makes sense - I'm sure if someone wanted to forge a signature they'd also go a step further and forge a COA. I was just hoping they would do it. I have an ASM (Vol 2) #36 that is remarked & signed by Scott Hanna with a DF COA I'd like to get slabbed. A few other books with COAs, but that's the main one. Guess I need to see the other guys for that one.
  16. Yes, I was aware I'd have to submit the slab, but wasn't sure if they would press it and keep the Sig Series part. Great to know that they can do that - thank you!
  17. I had my ASM 129 signed by Gerry Conway at a comic con several years ago & submitted to CGC. The book came back a lower grade than I expected (thanks in part to the facilitator who got tape stuck on my front cover). I don't know if there was pressing even offered back then, but I would love to have it pressed & re-graded. Since it's a Sig Series that CGC witnessed the signature of, I would hope that this would be possible, but would like to know for sure before I take any steps to have this done. Anybody know if this is possible?
  18. Interesting. I knew that they didn't verify signatures, but thought a COA from a well-known place like Dynamic Forces may have been accepted. Thanks guys.
  19. I'm starting to go through my collection to see what I should get graded, and ran across a few last night that have me wondering how CGC handles books that are signed with a COA. I have a few from Dynamic Forces, and one from a Comic Con that provided a COA. Will they count them as Sig Series? Also, what happens to the COA? I assume it isn't encapsulated in the slab...
  20. The back did clean up very nicely. I was late to the game, but was also concerned about the top left corner. I still need to send my Spawn #1 in.
