  1. That's what I thought. I seem to recall that the OS Guide talks about the various printings a bit. I still want to own that Cage October copy one day.
  2. Funny how as soon as you say you never see a copy, bingo. The Grail of Grails Now do all the October copies have the NOV stamp above it as well or is this considered a November copy? Is this a third version?
  3. That was a question I had as well. It may be that the Timely ashcans just haven't made it out of the company's archives, OR there is a good chance they were destroyed. That was the intended fate of the DC copies until they were "rescued". Perhaps a question for Stan Lee or Marvel?
  4. Can someone explain to me why it appears as though only DC was in the business of submitting aschans back in the day? Why didn't Marvel/Timley do the same or at least as often?
  5. Mark nice pickup but send that in for regrading as it looks like a 9.6 to me. Not that it really matters anyways but it does look undergraded for a book from 1940.
  6. Yeah, it would seem so. How will this bode for the hobby? Now that Parrinno's dreams of cashing in on the funnybooks seem to be going up in smoke, it'll be interesting to see where his books will land. Will they pop up on ebay from time to time? Will occasional flipping help these books eventually achieve greater prices, or will they go for lower than any of us might anticipate? Should be interesting.....either way, my checkbook ain't big enough for most of the books in question. In a way I think it will be a positive because there is no point having these books collect dust while being listed with super high prices that no one even bothers bid on. At least we will have a clearer picture of where the market is for some of these books and perhaps this will have a trickle down effect on grades that are more in my price range. Just a further comment on the October version of Marvel #1. Metro indicates that they see lots of November prints but bascially do not see any October copies. Harley may have had two copies on SD but why have they never been showcased on his website? If anyone can show me where an October copy is listed on another website please do so.
  7. Was the last 8 pages of this thread removed.
  8. Parino's website has been "under constrcution" for months and given the stuff he has unloaded recently it is clear to me that he is getting out of the game.
  9. With enough money, no set is hard to complete. I disagree. Money helps, but it's not the only requirement. Too bad money can't buy a personality.
  10. I would also sell my whole collection so I could obtain a crappy Marvel #1 or even a solid mid grade #9. If I ever see a copy of #9 2.0 grade I will sell off whatever I have to so I can buy one.
  11. What would you say a Marvel #1 October print is. I think its higher than a 7 as I have only seen one copy (Metro's Cage copy) for sale in 2 years. Probably have seen 10 November prints in that same time period.
  12. Big kudos for No Chips for a nice TTA/J.I.M. trade. Had to give up a nice book but I picked up a pretty rare and nice Pacific Coast copy of TTA #77.
  13. My pleasure. Please make sure to show this off once its framed.
  14. I'm back on a mission trying to complete my run from 70-101 in 9.2 and above and I think I'm half way there. Its shocking how few copies are in the census above 9.2 for this issue.
  15. Nice book Lok. Well love this cover, Pacfic Coast pedigree (one of my favorites) and rare in high grade to boot.
