  1. That's some kick arse statues you have there. Would look awesome around a nice showcase of high grade books.
  2. Big props to Surfer, a real stand-up guy. After a small mix-up my book got here safe and sound. Thanks for a great book. Would highly recommend working with the Maniac, one of the nicest people I have done business with on these boards. Two
  3. Actually the front cover is chewed because of water damage but the inside pages (other than being slightly warped at the bottom) are intact. Love that thick GA pulp. You should smell this sucker. You don't see these around for sale too often, unless your willing to pay $4,000+. One day I'll own a cleaner copy.
  4. Jayman, I have often wondered about the wings on the feet as they don't seem to be consistent through the years for some reason. Here is his first cover apperance and he doesn't have wings here but he may in the book (can't remember). Even in the crappy condition it is in this is my pride and joy.
  5. Harvey, Thanks for the props, I have flaunted these shamelessly when I bought them back in the summer but I just think they are just awesome, especially issue #33, probably my favorite covers from the 50's. Here's one more I own, highest and only one at that grade in the census.
  6. I don't think perceived rarity has anything to do with demand for SS#4 (minimal effect at best) and the fact it sells for 8x the price of #2. I think it has everything to do with the fact that it is probably one of the greatest pieces of cover artwork we will ever see. Kind of like FF#112, Sub-Mariner #8. They look like they are photos of real people the art is so spectacular. Johnny B
  7. Hook, Any chance you might want to part with this book?
  8. Another great transaction with the Iron Maniac. Can't hit the pay button any faster than the Maniac.
  9. Actually I thought the Marie Severin covers were outstanding. Issues 93, 98,100 & 101 come to mind. These are classics and I don't think Marie gets enought credit for her work. Hard to imagine a woman, especially back in the 60's, breaking into such a male dominated business. Can you imagine what her friends and family thought of her occupation at the time.
  10. Wow what an awesome book, cover and white pages to boot. Got any more?
  11. Kudos to Iron Maniac for a nice swap/sale. Quick delivery, even quicker payment and super packaging.
  12. Wow they never pulled any punches when it came to potraiting the enemy back then. Serious times no doubt.
  13. Hook it didn't take me quite as long to jump on the GA bandwagon but after viewing these threads, half of my recent purchases have been GA. I love flipping through what few books I have as it does reflect a rather neat timeline through history. Early Marvel Mystery covers with Nazi references, then the Human Torch Japanese battles, and on to the Atlas Sub-Mariner books in the 50's and Commie smashing was all the rage, just great stuff. For me it gives me an even greater appreciation for the first SA appearances of Captain America and the Sub-Mariner in the early 60's. I don't think Stan could have done a better job of writing these guys back into Marvel history.
  14. Comichut, I can tell you how to post the scans in your thread rather than as an attachment if you'd like? Send me a PM if your interested as I had to get a board member to show me how to do it after I had already made 700+ posts. And if I haven't said it already, Welcome to the Boards.
  15. Hey I thought that was going to get delivered today. Enjoy the reader copy as well. Did I put enough tape on that box?
