  1. Wow Mio! When I just scrolled by that first painting I actually thought I was looking at a picture for a few seconds. Those are fantastic. Congrats!
  2. I figured it out. Firefox is blocking Shockwave from that site, but IE allows the games to come up. If you use AdBlocker it blocks the games too. I had to allow the site and it worked.
  3. I can't find any specs on it. I wonder if they will add an Atmos/DTS:X track.
  4. I don't know. It seems like everyone is a flipper these days and with the 9.8 or it's garbage mentality my guess is they get way too many requests like this. Maybe they have a policy in place to ask for pictures and unless it really is damaged and not just a few spine ticks they can't really afford to refund every single request. I get you're not flipping it and want a nice copy for the PC but I think you have to look at it from their perspective too. I think you're making a mistake too because in my limited experience DCBS has always had the nicest books. Sure you can go somewhere else that MAY refund you but if it happens more often is it really worth it?
  5. Send Kraven over to CGC headquarters to straighten them out!
  6. Agreed. I don't buy graded so can't go by GPA. Ebay is so full of shills and other garbage I don't trust those prices either. I use this site as a gauge for raw prices so I appreciate when sellers keep the price listed.
  7. Chip, I know the snowball debt payoff method has been mentioned here. Where I learned that from was reading Dave Ramsay (and maybe that's where others have too). I don't agree with everything the guy says, but a lot of it makes sense and it does work. I've read a few of his books over the years and if nothing else, they are a good source of encouragement. I started the snowball method with my debt just over 2 years ago with a small modification: rather than just minimum payments on all but the smallest debt, I make the minimum payment to have every debt paid off in 3 years and put the rest on the smallest debt. I paid my first credit card off last month and my next one will be paid in August, then one in November. The rest will be paid off about this time next year. I know how crippling being in debt can be. I'll tell you, just getting that first card paid off was such a good feeling. And knowing I'll be debt free in just a year is something I've been looking forward to for a long time. Anyway, the reason for this rant is I just wanted to offer up my copy of Total Money Makeover to you if you're interested. It's helped me out a lot and if you take the time to read it and dedicate yourself to following the steps he outlines I think you'll greatly benefit. Just shoot me a PM with your address if you want to take me up on the offer. I was going to send this in a PM but I wanted to recommend this book to anyone who might be reading this. Even if you are doing well for yourself, I'd recommend giving this book a read, it's a quick read and has some great information.
  8. Wow, those last 2 posts just gave me goosebumps. What an amazing journey. Thank you for sharing.
  9. I think the buyer screwed up and the seller did the right thing by selling to the other buyer. That being said, the seller sold to the other buyer because there was no deal in place since there was never a PM. To me, if there was no deal in place for the first book, there was also no deal in place for the second book. I also think the seller was generous in offering the buyer a discount on the second book even though it was the buyer who screwed up the whole thing. I think the buyer should take the deal, but I don't necessarily think he is obligated.
  10. The problem is that it's not a 'Per PM' agreement until you get an affirmation from the seller, which you clearly did not have. Why don't you buy the book that is still available? If you are saying that you simply wanted to confirm shipping and Paypal information then that means you are still committed to the book, right? I offered him the book at less than the original price and less than the current discounted price and he still did not want the book. I wonder why that is? Did he say? He wanted both books. He said the 11 was priced right and was adding the 12 just because the deal was so good on the 11 Huh? That statement makes zero sense to me. The I'll take it on both was not a discounted packaged deal. It's up to you if you want to let him off the hook for this but it seems like a lame excuse. Sounds like it's sour grapes for a mistake the potential buyer made. Not sure if it constitutes a hangable offense though. I think it makes sense. The buyer wanted both books. One he felt was priced high, one low, so in the end it evened out. I've done deals like that and I'm sure most others here have too. The buyer doesn't get the book he felt was priced low so he doesn't want to buy the book he felt was priced too high. Sure, it wasn't technically a package deal, but I would assume that's what the buyer had in mind. I don't think you can say the buyer doesn't get the one book because he made a mistake, but at the same time hold him responsible for buying the second book because of that same mistake. To me, it seems like a no harm, no foul situation and buyer and seller should just move on.
  11. I thought it was Skunkor too so I had to Google it. I found an article that explained the smell is still there because they mixed patchouli oil into the the plastic when they were moulding him. Interesting.
  12. Roy, your comment mentions providing a description. I agree that a robust description with pic can be adequate. However, the sales thread that prompted my queries had no Return Policy, no grade, and no descriptions, only a front cover scan. Is that providing the buyer with enough information ? Absolutely not enough, I agree. Interesting how I mentioned this early in the VCC discussion thread but was referred to as a joker who is always negative about sellers here. I guess expecting a higher standard for sellers trying to move 3 digit books here is asking too much. There's a big difference between someone having no description, no return policy, no grade and only a front cover scan - which almost anyone will agree is a waste of people's time unless they are a well known seller with tight grading - and someone who isn't a perfect grader. The latter shouldn't be selling. The former is the majority of the comic book world. I think you have that flipped around; in which case I'd agree.
  13. Anyone play the new Mad Max game yet? Looks pretty cool.
  14. How cool would it be if they did meet up....in Terminus I think it would be interesting to see that groups backstory!
  15. You can take me off the list. Looking forward to seeing the scrapbook scans though.
  16. Just a suggestion, I don't want to rock the boat, but if it's ok with everyone here I'd swap places with Roy since he's right there by Quadman.
  17. I understand what RMA is saying. I don't know if anyone on this thread is a member of Blowout cards, but this is their rule regarding Paypal gift: Asking for Paypal Gift payments is NOT allowed. Please be aware that if you send payment as a GIFT, you will NOT be able to file a claim if there is a problem with the shipment. Sending payment as a gift is the same as sending cash or a money order! We do not recommend sending Paypal payments as a gift. Like RMA stated previously, when someone comes in complaining that they didn't receive their stuff when paying personal, the reaction is in fact "WHY did you pay personal?!". The reasoning is that by paying with personal, you have no recourse through Paypal if something should happen. That being said, it seems to me that the real service that Paypal is actually providing with regular payments is buyer protection. That protection is removed when you are paying personal. It doesn't really seem like "stealing" to me because you are no longer gaining the buyer protection service that Paypal provides with a fee associated payment. I don't think you have a leg to stand on getting your money back from Paypal and you only have yourself to blame for doing it, but I don't think it hurts to make others aware of what happened even if you are partially to blame.
  18. Nah, makes no difference to your enjoyment of the picture. (thumbs u Thanks
  19. I haven't watched the original films for years. Would it be better to go back and watch those first before going to see this? I was thinking about going tonight but if I'd miss out on anything I'd rather wait.
  20. I'd be willing to bet if you asked around here you'd be able to find someone that will either have any SA or BA book you'd want, or know where to get it.
  21. You can bet your browser on it. Yeah it's him. He used that very same avatar here. I used to be a mod there until it became too s tupid for words. They only sell junky books there, symbiotic will be able to rip people off without a hitch. Why you say that? It's just a bunch of individuals selling on the site, somewhat similar to ebay isn't it? I've purchased books there with no issues; admittedly all low end stuff. I'm pretty sure I've seen other sellers here sell on that site too.
  22. As a new seller I take offense to the above remark! When are people going to realize that "new sellers" are people too. New sellers came to this board just like everybody else looking for a better life. When I first came out as a "new seller", it was difficult. Some of my friends were like... what the...? Why are you selling your stuff? But I've made new friends... and they helped me realize now that I have nothing to be ashamed of. It's not having something to be ashamed of, it's whether or not you have an established business reputation within the forum you choose to sell. New sellers, by virtue of being new, have no established reputation for buyers to rely upon. The "newness" makes the seller a wildcard for better or worse. New seller + 1/2 of GPA = Established seller + 1/2 of GPA = * * Meaning he might have been drunk when he posted it with that price, but you're gonna get your book. I'd like to think of them as New Members, and not just people jumping in here with no creds, selling books right out of the gate, and then crying boo hoo when someone twists there arm a bit. When people come in here using this place like craig list, I take offense to that. This is an established community for the most part. Alot of us know each personally through business on here and such. If you want to sell on here and be credible, establish a reputation first, and not just use this place to dump books. Agreed. If you are selling out of the gate I don't even bother. +1 And I don't have to explain that to anybody. It's my choice. I know we all had to start somewhere on here, but most of us took the hazing and learned the ropes without belly aching. If you see a nice book that you just have to have, and the seller is new, good luck to you. On the other hand you can ask some questions first and find out we have some reputable dealers and sellers on here that will be more than happy to find you a book your looking for. Just have some d amn patience. You want a book and sleep at night with the buy, contact Bob Storms, Dale Roberts, Mr. Bedrock, or Greg Reece to name a few. They will be more than happy to try and find you what your looking for. That's there business and they have the customer service to back it up, and you won't be waiting in the phantom zone for communications. Those guys are in my top "to buy from " list, and I've never been s crewed over ever. On the other hand, we all know of the boardie who bought a book for 3 figures and sold it for 5; that's not gonna happen with those guys. I understand the point Dr. X makes and I think it's a good one, but when you hear one of those "too good to be true" stories was actually true; it probably tends to make people take some chances.
  23. Shipped quickly in a box with plenty of protection. Books looked really good, better than I was expecting! Would buy from again any time!!!
  24. Original art on a blank I got from Brian Lopez-Santos:
