  1. The problem has been Disney's disastrous handling of the MCU over the last 2-3 years. The Marvels upcoming film will add to that heap of failure, as it's projected to severely underperform. Until they right the ship at the cinema and with Disney Plus, we will continue to see softness with most keys. The economy is always up and down. This is about Disney failing in every way imaginable post Avengers. No one cares about these projects, except the last Guardians film.
  2. I disagree, at least commercially. Christie's sold his Nude with Joyous Painting in 2020 for $46.2M - above the estimate of 30M. His work will command top tier prices on any stage whenever they are introduced for auction.
  3. I only buy blue (or yellow) label and never books with brittle pages. If the book is really tough, like a Mystery Men Comics #7, I may break my rules and pick up a conserved, restored etc. To each their own, not sure it matters.
  4. solid video, although 3 of the dealers interviewed are already youtube/social media influencer types, who tend to hype books up frequently.
  5. Let's start a thread of material you've bought here on the boards. Post the last GA comic you've bought off the boards and if you remember, the date (especially if it's been a while). Extra points, tag the boardie seller!
  6. I think those are good reasons but I personally have never heard of PBA in all my years of collecting and if wasn't discussed here on the boards, that would have remained to be true up and through this auction.
  7. Not sure why there always seems to be such delight or thread frenzy when the Promise books crash or sell at a loss. Good chance the seller could have been a boardie or a collector we've met. I feel bad for those sellers as they bought into great material and are now seeing losses. I didn't consign any Promise books into this current auction, fwiw. That said, it's a great Pedigree and I like those books and own several. I share the pain when they dip like this.
  8. why not? Just being transparent. Pricing it slightly above last GPA, and open to offers. I think the price is fair based on recent sales.
  9. One book here folks and needs no further introductions: -First I'll take it in sale gets book, takes precedence over negotiations that are not closed and noted in thread -Books ships from San Francisco, CA USPS priority mail medium flat rate box to US or Canada. Will not ship to any other locations outside the US and Canada. Shipping included in price -Payments accepted: Venmo, PP or check -No returns -Great presenting lower grade copy, no HA filters added to the pics -Run grader notes to get details: 4116355001
  10. Are golden age books selling "low" on Goldin? Here are all the books that closed tonight that I thought were great pickups for buyers. That said, I wonder if they don't have the base yet to compete with HA, CC, Clink etc and prices simply are not going to be competitive for sellers yet. What do you think of these results, and Goldin?
  11. wonder why someone would skip the marketing power of HA and go with a small auctioneer in Berkeley that most people have never heard of
  12. Sure happy to do more BB keys and relevant books!
  13. Hah yes, I just posted that video! I'm going to get more content up. Any books or genres you want me to share in upcoming videos?
  14. Looks like someone is going to flip the Marvel Mystery Comics 4 1.5 I sold on HA in 2021 for $21,600 in this auction. Curious to see where that lands.
  15. I was excited to see that price realized. I've been holding a more modestly graded copy
  16. I can only speak from my own experience as a youtube content creator. I have Adobe Premiere Pro editing software on my desktop. You go to the effects library and drop a filter on it and adjust the contrast. No one looks like a oompa loopa and you can't tell. It's very easy to do.
  17. I think 2021 and 2022 can be referred to as the "comic book boom" with most prices across the board starting the dip in mid to late 2022, and likely may be outlier years. That copy probably was right on the cusp of the decline. I'm seeing prices reset to above 2020 levels, and significantly below 21-22 for most keys. Of course, there are many exceptions but it's been fairly steep in terms of these declines we've seen in 2023.
