  1. To the OP, I would widen your gaze. All of these are common books and chasing 9.8s is a fool's errand. The best advice anyone can give you is "buy the book, not the label". Explore comics that you've never seen before. You wouldn't believe what you can buy for the same money. Here are just a few of the great alternatives: High Grade Frazetta covers on Warren magazines Classic minor SA keys from either Marvel or DC like the first SA appearance of The Spectre or the Red Skull or the first SA origin of Captain America Truly Classic BA covers like Captain Marvel 17, Marvel Premiere 1, X-men 135, etc. First appearance of characters like Iron Fist, Nick Fury Agent of Shield, Deathlok, etc. Heck, you could buy ECs for the same money and be much, much happier and on your way to discovering a whole new world of really cool books.
  2. And this is an incredibly cool mag from 1946 with a super cool Peter Driben cover. Love it!
  3. Pretty exclusive club to join. I'm super happy to finally be a member!! It's super glossy in hand and the page quality is very solid.
  4. (pump, pump, pump) That balloon is looking pretty full. Careful...
  5. They're nice books with excellent gloss and page quality.
  6. Pretty sure I have the vast majority of those books with Frazetta covers. Still missing a few of the big boys like the Hytes Midwood paperbacks and the Karl Edward Wagner books that are tough to find values on. But there are a lot of cool covers and it sounds like the reproductions in the book are large scale so it should be pretty cool! You should cross post this in the paperback thread in the gold forum.
  7. @Pulpvault That is some amazing material you have. Museum quality items, really.
  8. As you draw a knife across layers of paper, the top layer is the most likely to tear unevenly and the bottom layer is the least likely. I can't intelligently say why, but it's definitely the case whether you're cutting stacks of paper or foam core or whatever. And it's definitely due to a blade that has dulled. It's happened to me (not on comics) many, many times. Edit: After thinking about it, it's probably due to the resistance the layers provide against the paper pulling. If you think about it, the top layer has nothing and the bottom layer has all the layers above pushing down.
  9. Why do we assume he was in hell? They don't say that and he's not a bad person...
  10. Respectfully, I think that's a weird interpretation of the movie. I understand the logic you're using but I think it's wrongly considered. If you look for demons, you will surely find them.
  11. I watched a very different cut than you did. Was this the European version or something? Asking for a friend.
  12. No, that was during the short period I was out of comics. Do you recommend it? I heard it wasn't very good.
  13. @Hamlet and I have spoken several times about this and you're completely correct. A very large number of books arrived on the stands without tatooz and then were demonized for not having them. I know this because I had many friends that purchased copies and were super careful and worried about the insert when they purchased off the stands only to discover later that there were never tattoos in there to begin with.
  14. Admittedly, I was worried after the first episode (which seemed lackluster, for lack of a better word). As much as I've tried, I've never been a big Robert Rodriguez fan. But the second episode was pretty well done. I like what is being set up as a conflict between Boba's moral ideals and the realities of the feudal culture that the Hutts reign in. And I'm really looking forward to the development of these secondary and tertiary characters, both adversaries and potential allies. Also, anytime Jennifer Beals shows up, I'm feeling pretty good. Just saying.
  15. Avengers 97 ruined Rick Jones for me. Arguably the most disappointing end to what was one of the coolest story arcs until that issue. Like getting kicked in the johnnies.
  16. Yes, to anyone that thinks these boards don't influence prices, this is very telling:
  17. Yep. As I mentioned before, I've watched a few do this repeatedly with certain books. Again, FWIW, it's not whether or not ASM 194 is a key book or has some value. It is and it does. The books that these guys pump usually are. It's that they pump them up way past any rational value because they have many, many copies and they want as a big an inflated price as possible before they liquidate. If someone is pushing how something is worth an amazing amount of money and should be worth even more, you should immediately assume they have a vested interest in that thing going up in price. Which means that whatever they say, it's not unbiased.
  18. Your efforts to pump up the price haven't gone unnoticed.
  19. This series is the epitome of "It's so bad, it's good". Unfortunately, it's starting to run out of steam as there are only so many characters from the original movies and they've used up most of them. I'm calling Hillary Swank in the next season for the win.
  20. Dang! I missed out on a bunch of great Crime/Detective magazines! Those things are super tough. Awesome books all around!!
