  1. And also...why would the Night King allow himself to be put into such a position? He spends eons planning this, keeps himself safe and lets his animated army do his bidding/take all risks at every point UP UNTIL the end? None of his (possibly literally) 1000 body guards were guarding the door? And he is so inexperienced he falls for the same "haha you didnt see my OTHER HAND" trick that killed his main fighter earlier?
  2. But then why did he have to do it? The night king saw him when he flew over the castle, he didnt need to draw him out , the NK knows where he is at all time. The entire going into a trance thing had no value.
  3. I hope they don’t do any more avengers movies with who is left. I’d like it to be stand alone movies with some cross overs.
  4. Last night’s episode was like eating a bag of candy for dinner. It’s fun and really fulfills one specific want VERY well. But when you are done you find not only was it not truly satisfying, you sorta feel a little regretful of it the next day. The Night King went out like that?! That’s all it took was for everyone in his undead magical army to forget to pay attention? He was so easily tricked after all those years of planning and self preservation safe guarding? He was the main enemy lurking for years, now he goes out sorta silly style and we still know nothing truly about him. Well other then he and his 1000+ body guards become magically stupid at just the right time for total victory to be lost. Why not have Bran brought to you in a defensible position? He has always understood the rest are expendable (like the fire bridge fighters). Why go through all that to just at the last moment go into an unsecured battlefield without anyone watching your back? How is that consistent with someone laying centuries of plans and safeguards to ensure that success? And heck even if he gets magically that stupid at the worst possible time...how can a creature with 1000s of years of hand to hand combat knowledge, who single handedly brought down a DRAGON, be undone by such a simple easy to spot trick? When something like it has just happened like 30 minutes earlier to his main fighter? Also who set up those defenses!? Talk about having no idea. And why was there no siege defense? What castle and army doesn’t know how to defend a castle by preparing defenses? I wasn't expecting it to be both so grand in filming, but yet so poorly written and down right stupid in terms of an actual story. Little girl tricks vastly superior enemy because they don’t pay attention to her hands...twice...that’s what saved the army and than the war...the same trick....twice.... I just didn’t think the army of the night was made up of Scooby-Doo villains...guess I learned lol.
  5. The more I think about it, cap just showing up as an old man seems cheap and a little cliched. It was tell me don’t show me. For such a huge part of the story to be wrapped up in that gimmick seemed...uh...”Gimmicky”. The more I review this movie, the less enamored with it I become LOL. I better stop
  6. Now that the film is done and I have some distance and time to digest, I sorta hope there will be no more Avengers movies. I don’t like who is left as much as who we had. I think stand alone films with maybe a cross over is good enough.
  7. Saw it, loved it. Shocked it made what it did being released in a horrible position with no quality marketing but it left a lot of money on the table. This should be a lesson to all. Where you position your film matters. How you advertise it matters. its not just enough to be great, you gotta be in a spot with little competition in the weeks before and after you to avoid fatigue and direct box office battle. You gotta spend money on advertising too. Glad the film made ok profit, hope this means sequel is on the way.
  8. I think we might be looking at this all wrong. When you see these 7-10 figure fine art sales, you have to realize there are less then a thousand folks/entities in total who are doing the buying and selling of this stuff. That’s hardly representative of the general public. It’s the Uber rich passing a few pieces back and forth like a game of Monopoly. Nothing at all wrong with that, but it’s hardly a group of people whose respect we should be craving. The media and society in general are fascinated with huge displays of wealth, granted, but that doesn’t mean most people are serious about or have any great respect or reverence for these billionaires and wanna-be’s playing this game. We talk about it because it’s ridiculous sums of money, it’s gaudy and honestly a little insane. It’s like watching that old show “Cribs” on some level. You didn’t really respect and admire it, you watched to see how neat the “toys” were and laugh at the waste of it. It would be fun to have that disposable for sure but very few folks watched it with awe and great reverence and respect. It’s fun watching folks blow money on stupid $#|t. I don’t think it’s a sign of “we made it” if this frazetta sells for 5 million, even if it gets some social media likes and a few sound bites in that days news cycle. Getting gawker respect means little to nothing for us or our hobby. It’s not something that makes or breaks us. It just means we got a little of the “look what some insufficiently_thoughtful_persons with money did” smirking talking head time. We are fine without it IMO.
  9. I’m putting the over/under on folks Messaging the OP looking to buy at 8.
  10. I’ll be there setting up this time and doing my normal night before dinner with friends/collectors at Gabriel’s.
  11. I think that's a good idea. It seems pretty like its impossible to actually ship art with insurance over 1000 dollars (and have it actually guaranteed covered/protected) unless you have your own private policy, and to pay for insurance from FED EX, USPS, DHL, or UPS is just throwing money away (above 1k). I wouldn't assume 'the case but since no one here seems to have ever seen or heard of any consistent success with filling a claim on damaged in transit original comic art (at least over 1k) it appears to be so. Its one of those interesting things you just never think about til someone says it outloud, its actually not possible to accurately ship this stuff insured by the carrier for the amounts many of these pieces are worth...food for thought...I wish it wasn't so but It seems like 'that's that."
  12. So fed ex wont cover art/comics over 1000 dollars , but USPS will ? Anyone had any experience getting paid out on a claim for a damaged 1000+ dollar comic collectable?
  13. See, I keep thinking that most people must not ship art and comic books insured. Or if they are its money they are throwing away since the limits on unique items are so low they wont cover actual value. Are we all just rolling the dice when we buy and sell items over 1000 dollars?
  14. Hello, wanted to see what peoples experiences were here with dealing with insurance claims on comic art that got damaged while being shipped within the US. Ive heard conflicting reports about the big 4 (USPS, FEDEX, UPS, DHL) and who will actually honor a claim on unique hand drawn art? Ive heard some companies like the USPost will let you pay for the insurance , but if you try and file a claim they will not pay out because the art is one of a kind and its value is subjective. Anyone here have any concrete first hand experiences in this?
  15. Have to think more about this. threw something out but on retrospect more thought needed lol.
  16. Ah, ok i missed that part. so never mind the last two :-)
  17. God, i didnt even think about Jim Lee, Frank Miller, or Todd McFarlane. How the hell can this list exist without them? An ENTIRE GENERATION of artists working today were inspired by and on some level mimicking (or at least basing their style off of) their work. Nearly everything comes out of them. And heck what about Moebius for that matter, or Herge (Georges Remi)?! The more i look at this list, the more I feel its so lacking in depth and understanding of true importance, you almost cant take it seriously.
  18. I dont know about Chris Ware, I know he sells well and has fans but has his impact been so great? And of course Alex Raymond, Burne Hogarth, or even Hal Foster not being on the list means they are basically discounting the history and importance of the adventure strip and the idea of sheer amazing technical elite craftsmanship and skill. The argument seems to be, short term brilliance (aka one or two books working at the highest levels) is more important than long term expertise and influence.
  19. I mean, isnt it a top 2-3 of his works all time, with some bending to 1? 4 million.
  20. DD, Thunder Agents, Dynamo, and a ton of inking and penciling jobs in the late 60s to mid 70s for marvel. Not saying he is a primarily Hero artist, of course not. But he has probably a few dozen hero books to his credit. Heck, on some level you can almost include his work on Sky masters with Kirby in this argument. Just saying, he cant be thrown out totally of the super hero category.
  21. I keep thinking of Wayne Boring superman art when i look at his upper body. This is a rough one for sure.
  22. To be fair, WWBN 32 had a MUCH shorter print run and is very dark cover with lots of runs of Jet black along the spine by the staples (well bottom anyway if memory serves). That book is very hard to get in 9.8, and i believe had a MUCH smaller print run then a relatively popular Hulk book. There are only 18 total 9.8s (and no 9.9's) of WWBN32 as opposed to well over 100 Hulk 181's in 9.8 (with 9.9 out there too). Highest grade on a somewhat major character from a very difficult book to find that is highly condition sensitive. I get the WWBN 32 if just based on its scarcity.
