  1. There are a few that go the other way.... there's a prize for the most errors found
  2. I hear you loud and clear there. I bought a few, but also got the cheapest book, House of Mystery #290 CGC 6.5 for $25. I was just staggered looking at it. There was some huge prices for the Star Wars books, and any black costume spidey's, but the $971 for the Shazam #28 (1977, DC, 2nd Black Adam appearance (1st since Golden Age)) was entirely lost on me. Is there a hard to find book or something? Two bidders gone crazy???
  3. How tight are those two books graded!! I'm guessing they're from the latest Clink auction. The whole batch of Mark Jewelers books makes CGC look like they initiated a month long policy of no "sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll" while these books went through grading. IMHO
  4. I managed to pick up a few. The early X-men were pretty hotly picked up! Any heads up on what's coming through on the next Clink auctions?
  5. From the collectors view, their books were red hot for so long, because they got it right. Titles, artists and stories were top notch, even their book quality stood out. And they were the first of the era to have obscure hard to find issues. For collectors, they had all the right ingredients. The irony is that I personally didn't collect them, as I "missed the boat" when they hit the market. Playing catchup was outside of my budget at the time.
  6. This a true comic publisher story right there! Rags, riches, and back for another run at it. 80,000,000 books is crazy. I was there, and they were huge, topping the mighty marvel machine at times for hype, and excitement around their books.
  7. Here's my copy. Still the only 9.8 on the census after all of these years.
  8. Looking at the census, there are more 9.9 #2's, than there are 9.8 CPV #2's. Thats impressive.
  9. SS #3 seems to be red hot right now. A CGC 9.8 hitting $38,400 https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/superhero/the-silver-surfer-3-marvel-1968-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/7236-92293.s?ic2=mytracked-lotspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyTrackedLots-101116 And a CGC 9.4 hitting $4,100 https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FSEARCH_ADV.ASP%3Fall%3Dy%26TITLE%3Dsilver%2Bsurfer%26TITLEOPT%3DALL%26ISSUE%3D%26Condition%3D%26ConditionTo%3D%26CensusRank%3D%26SearchPageQuality%3D%26Pedigree%3D%26PRICEF%3D%26PRICET%3D%26DESCRIPTION%3D%26DESCRIPTIONOPT%3DALL%26SearchRemarks%3D%26SearchCGC%3D%26EXCLUDE%3D%26CATEGORIES%3D-1%26WCATEGORIES%3D-1%26SORT%3DCATEG%26_where_forsale%3Dy%26_where_auctions%3Dy%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26where_auctions%3Dy%23Item_1437535&id=1437535&itemType=0
  10. The CGC census is bearing this out well. The populations for CPV's is minuscule, and for the key books that were hits from the get-go we see the same skews in the CPV populations as the regular US editions, but in the range of the CPV populations.
  11. There's a bunch of information on them, and yes they are rare, The prices for these books is going astronomical in the last few years as the market is waking up to the distinction. https://wordpress.com/read/blogs/99391399
  12. Hi, I've got a few 80's Canadian edition books I'm looking to get slabbed. Can they get their delineation/points line in the registry sets, if I ask for them in specific sets? Thanks in advance! Hello @Microchip, If CGC has graded a copy of a book it will be eligible for the registry. The request for "slots" will need to be made at the link below as this is the "sets" thread. Please be sure to provide the specific set name that you are requesting the slot to be added to. Providing a cert number is always appreciated. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/462081-2020-i-want-this-to-be-added-to-a-set-request/
  13. Thats a ballsey game to play, with the money and time needed to make that work. Oh I'm sure there's plenty out there doing it, but it's surely a fine line between success and failure.
  14. I think your points are barely on the mark here. There's nothing of on-going character value happening at the moment. The 'grail book' status is driving things off the charts at the moment. I just saw the result for the FF #49 CGC 9.8 at $115,00 today. It leaves the 9.0-9.4 light years apart. And you it comes across the board now in the modern books, where 9.9-10.0's going for +$10,000 prices, when the readily available 9.8's are still $500 or less. Albedo is still leading the charge though, the recent Clink results were just mind boggling. There's another #2 CGC 9.6 coming up on Heritage. It'll be interesting to see the result, as it's a very different audience over there.
  15. There's quite a few of the pedigree's with a few or more of the 68's starter books. I remember the two Boston Surfer #1's, that Rob Hughes got regraded to 9.8's. The WP pedigree seems to have the full set.
  16. The one and only adequately registered FF #48. I do recall seeing a second Curator #48. 9.2 in grade, and with equally good centering. #wiwm (wish it was mine)
  17. When I heard about this, I was more expecting something in the comic. A tv in the background with a slightly blurry Rick's hair, and lab coat. But is it 'meta', the cartoon show, cartoon show characters watch?
  18. This is a RB White sketch. It's pretty good, though not sure exactly what's going on here. For RB this is a bit of a diversion from his normal cover art work,
  19. I'm a big fan of the tv show so here we are,
  20. I've just come across this too. I looked at GoCollect for a quick price guide, and I thought it was a massive error! It's just a staggering price point.
