I totally agree, but no one is going to take the $150,000 hit of a downgrade to a 9.8, assuming a press can remedy the issue.   Personally it would bug the hell out of me, even if the money wasn't a concern.

Maybe a deal to press, and reslab the book under a ME submission can be struck with CGC (shrug)

Does anyone have current photos of that 181 in 9.9?

Having scrolled back, I see you Beige specifically mentioned Charles Weyland Bishop. As far as I can recall, that character only exists in the Aliens vs Predator movie, and never appeared in comics. In comics you have the android Bishop (Lance Bishop) and you have Michael Bishop, his creator, in Alien 3,  both of which appeared in the Alien 3 adaptation. I don't think C.W. Bishop exists outside of AvP, though I could be wrong.

@Beige This is correct, unless they made a comic adaptation of the AvP movie which I do not believe was made.

  3. @BeigeFirst appearances in comics of the 1986 Aliens movie characters.  This list disregards Alien movie adaptation, Heavy Metal magazine, Aliens 3 and the retcon of Dark Horse continuity in the early to mid 90’s after the release of Aliens 3.

Aliens 1 (1988); Hicks and Newt also Hudson, Crowe, Frost, Drake and Vasquez in a dream sequence (I wouldn’t consider this a first appearance).  This book pre dates Dark Horse Presents 24 (origin of the Aliens).

Aliens (1989) 4; Ripley in cameo last page

Aliens Earth War 1; Ripley full appearance and intro into Dark Horse continuity.

Newts Tale 1; Gorman, Vasquez, Hudson, Dietrich, Apone, Frost, Weirzbowski, Drake, Burke

    Newts Tale 2; Bishop (Android)

Ferro and Spunkmeyer are never seen (this storyline was told from Newts POV).  All you see is their death in the  Dropship crash after the initial fight in the hive.

The only 2 books that have these annotations by CGC are the first appearance of Hicks and Newts in Aliens 1 (1988) and Lt. Ripley in cameo on last page in Aliens 4 (1989).

If you got to the registry and look at my Aliens, Predator, Terminator and AVP (Dark Horse 1988-1992) set “The BIG 3 plus a mash up” you’ll find a fairly detailed compilation of all early key appearances, deaths and events.

I hope this answered your question.

So, I think I mentioned that I recently did an inventory of my Aliens books, and I'm missing a few random things that surprised me. Either cases where my LCS failed to pull the books for me, and I just assumed I had them, or random weird variants that I didn't feel like chasing at the time.

Oddly enough, I was currently missing AvPvT #2. That shocked me, as I know I've had several complete sets of this series over the years. Anyway, grabbed a nice #2 at a decent price.

Next was the Aliens Vampirella variant. This is one of the easy to find books in this set, so I'd not been in a hurry. But I figured I may as well cross it off, as the Aliens Vampi books are some of the toughest to find, in my estimation. The virgin and b&w variants of 2-6 are ghosts. This series came out during the gap where I wasn't buying new comics at all (even Aliens stuff) and I missed them completely. Once I started buying new books again, I found that this series was oddly difficult to track down. I have a set of the regular covers, but the variants are very spotty in my collection, and not at all easy to track down after issue #1. I guess this was a crossover that flew under the radar for most folks.

Is the Vampirella vs Aliens any good?  Unlike most people I did like AVPVT though.

Glad that you picked this up, I had put it in my cart and purchased the night before. Had an error, was questioning my cart still had the item in to be paid the next day.  thought I went through the process, but wasn’t meant to be. 👍 Congratulations!!

This item arrived (went through) though as the secondary purchase in my order. 😆

Oh man, Im sorry Mike.  If I knew you were going after it I wouldn’t have grabbed it.  It was up there for a day or so and I figured I would pounce.  Usually you scoop these one off’s up quick.  Figured you already had one or one in for grading at CGC.

That's about as nice as I've seen. I'm not sure if it's the way it was printed, or the way they were handled after the fact, but most of these books seem to have issues. There are two 9.8's and two 9.6's in the census, I'd love to see one of those.

Im willing to guess the way they were handled.  Im sure no one thought they would be collectible at any point in time.

Stoked to have won this guy on CLink last night for EIGHTEEN DAMN DOLLARS. Amazing. It's a "lowly" 9.6, but that makes it the single highest graded copy! So odd that there aren't more of these slabbed. I know the Authority/Stormwatch have cooled in popularity, but at one time this was a hot book as it killed off the remainder of Stormwatch, and was considered the "first appearance" of the Authority. Anyhow, yeah, happy to have it, but feel bad for the sellers, it has been a bloodbath on CLink this round. I snapped up a huge collection of Stormwatch books for a registry set, most of them for under $20, well below the cost of slabbing, and most of them were the single highest graded copy, or the ONLY graded copy. Crazy times.
