  1. But there are not in the same universe. I like Silk long term, but she is not Harley. Silk is a play off of Spider-Man. Harley is a new character (for the most part).
  2. The best comparison is probably to themselves at different periods in time. Their market shares are not really at risk, except to each other (big 2). But I would say that any market share (however small) they lose to indies is very hard to win back. IMO, it would only matter if the comic book market itself is losing readers. You can't lose a race to yourself. You can make less money, yes, but that's natural for any business. At some point it's going to hit its peak and fluctuate up and down from there. (Much like variants do).
  3. Agreed, but in today's market place Marvel is not doing itself any favors with the quality they are producing with many readers quickly dropping titles as the big publishers try to constantly reinvent themselves with annual gimmick events. Compared to whom? DC and Marvel stand alone at the top. I see people saying they are getting sick of the reboots, but that's not what the sales say. 4 of the top 100 in Dec. 2016 were non-Big 2. Four
  4. Yes, similar, however these are mostly Marvel variants however. Valiant failed completely as a company and has never had a Spider-Man, Batman, etc...
  5. Is $1,500 for a 1:1000 inflated though? I thought DCBS sold their 1:1000 for more and those were on the Dynamite Gold Key titles which are less in demand. The C-3PO 1:1000 went for about that much initially and all that had was a different colored cover. IMO it is. Incentive variant pricing has changed at the online retailers in recent years, but I still hear a lot of LCS's charging the same prices. Meaning a 1:25 about $12, 1:50 about $22, etc... about half of the issue incentive. Midtown and DCBS started inflating the prices, probably when they started getting really burned on not being able to sell the regular issues. Venom 1:1000 is the only one from last year that is selling at the same price or better as release.
  6. Weekly flavors: Dark Knight III #7 Jim Lee 1:500 Variant Blows my mind that people continue to pay high dollar upon release for these. #1-3 are going for about $150 each. Venom #3 JSC Variant breaking $300 now Captain Marvel #1 1:50 Ross Variant over $100 Gamora Mattina has shown some lasting strength.
  7. I'm fine not seeing it again, I think it looks awful. Easier for me to find another been mentioned here before by someone http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=9359645Post9359645 Interesting, sold mine for a healthy profit that same month. Maybe it was your bump that helped!
  8. Wasn't worth the investment to me at $200 + shipping. If you're lucky, you can get $300 + shipping on the bay. Leaves you with $54 profit. $200 to POSSIBLY make $54 is not a wise investment, IMO.
  9. He asked for that many as part of his contract to do the cover.
  10. I think that will depend on the asking price. Very, very few modern collectors can afford a single $1000 comic, let alone a $5000 or $10000 comic. Otherwise some of those other books we like to argue about would be worth a lot more than they are. Will this be the highest priced modern variant right out of the gate? It is looking more and more like it will be. Agreed, not many can afford it but that doesn't matter. As I posted a couple pages back, Midtown isn't having a hard time selling them at inflated prices. Look at the Venom 1:1000. Consistently selling at $1,500.

  12. You can turn off the unpaid buyer assistance on the individual item if you go to your pending cases.
  13. The King of Drek is not a title that many aspire to.
  14. The really jacked up the Priority Legal Flat Rate. Was $5.60, now $6.05.
  15. Interesting, never heard that. But if people know about Google Shopping, don't they know about eBay?

  17. Why do you feel you need to enter it?
  18. Damn! He did increase the price to $200. But now there is an option, not for collectors obviously, described as variant with "some imperfections" for $100. Too bad he's increasing the price to an already very expensive cover. Still cheaper than the bay. This is why I believe the prices went up. Does not bother me any. He did the cover and if joe schmoe is getting 150+ for the book, why the hell should he not get the same. Or even simpler, if you think it's too much don't buy it. He will sell out no problem.
