  1. I have less than ten slabbed BA books in my collection. These and the one above were in a back box with still unbagged moderns from about ten years ago. I kind of forgot about them and decided to scan them in last night.
  2. Those ads are priceless!
  3. I get what you are saying and I respect your opinion, as many others agree with that stance. Some even gripe about EC’s having their large title taking up a third of the cover. However, I’ve come to appreciate the charm the Atlas vignettes add to the covers. To me it’s like having extra art to enjoy! And of course I do enjoy some full cover goodness too!
  4. Animal Man Swamp Thing Sandman All great reads…
  5. On a funny note; when I was a kid reading the Warren mags that advertised this album, the black and white pics were so tiny that I thought Kong was holding a surf board! I guess growing up at the shore slanted my perceptions!
  6. Who is this? Great pic with the Night Gallery prints in the back. I have two of them myself.
  7. Regarding The Fade-Away Walk. I was 7 years old when I first got this issue and read that story. Talk about leaving an impression. My young mind couldn’t make out whether he was a man or a monster but the emotions that came across in that story struck a chord with me. I haven’t read that story in probably 40 years or so and can still picture the guy slipping off the nose of George Washington and the other’s face regretting not helping!
  8. About around the same time I believe. That dragon is very Asian inspired and looks awesome. I guess that’s one reason I like his version of Vampi. She looks a bit Asian and Frazetta’s painted version on the first issue looks that way too.
  9. Kim’s style is that of the Korean manhwa. Manga in Japan. I’ve come to appreciate it more and more over the years. Some examples…
  10. Speaking of Kong, I am collecting these A.J. Renzi blow mold banks. Billed a “King Koin” to avoid licensing, they stand nicely at 17” tall. I didn’t start out to do so as I was only looking for the red variant that I had as a youngster. It was actually the earliest thing I can remember from my childhood. The black standard ones are a dime a dozen but the color variants seldom come around. I was lucky enough to finally score a red one and I thought I was done. Lo and behold I then came across the even rarer blue Kong. I then grabbed the common black version to round them off. There is still a pink version I am looking for and talk of a mythical lime green one also.
  11. I’m the same way with the BBW run. I talked about this with another boardie and I hate when the two bats at the top are cut off. this is as close as I’d care to get that I consider acceptable…
  12. I do the same after I scan my books. Some scanners capture book colors spot on while other cover colors are way off. After I scan a book, I actually look at the book in hand and try to best match the hue, contrast, saturation and brightness as it looks to me. BTW, this cover has it all. Skulls, shrunken heads, damsel in distress, 4 witch doctors and fire! Like the grade you have too, just like mine!
  13. All great books! I’m especially a fan of that Mystery Tales 14. I believe it’s an under appreciated Everett classic!
  14. Another grandkid birthday card for this upcoming weekend.
  15. I am human…human…huma*…
  16. Loved Karloff as Hjalmar Poelzig in the Black Cat. He and Bela Lugosi were both great in that film.
