  1. Thanks Shiver. I only picked up interest in that issue after seeing it on your site as "1st Spear of Destiny" Another interesting thing about this issue, it contains a full lenght story from cover to cover. Are any other issues of WWTs one story issues?
  2. Something a little different but I could not pass this up for 5 bucks! Hey! It's technically Copper Horror...
  3. They are a bit hit or miss but usually very close, the WWT # 50 was graded NM. I would say it is 9.0 slightly rounded corners and a nutsack crease on back.
  4. This just came in from NeatStuff Coll. What makes this cool for me was that while reading it I found it has a Mark Jewelers insert. First one I ever came across.
  5. Don't give up Keith!!! You're almost there! Your Fright Night scan was 6x4 @ 72 DPI, just go a little bigger. What software do you use? Here's your scan enlarged to 10" high. I also used the "sharpen" filter in Photoshop to get rid of some of the blur.
  6. Keith, when I first joined the forums and wanted to post I just downloaded someone elses cover scan that was a nice large size, opened it up in Photoshop and looked at the image size. Then I simply matched my posted scans to a similar size and DPI. If you don't have Photoshop I'm sure other imaging software can do the same. Anyway my .jpg scans are roughly 7.5 x 10.5 @ 72 DPI set at 4 quality (lower compression). They seem to work fine on these boards!
  7. BassGMan, Nice Bats! The more I see this book on the forum is making it harder not to seek one out for myself. Re: the WH # 38, would you mind posting? I also am trying to get a handle on how CGC grades these 100 page issues and would like to see what they consider a 7.0. Or maybe just a close-up of the corners if you could? Would be appreciated.
  8. What gets me is wondering how much a professional color touch would cost versus the price of that book. Would it be cost effective? (not that I know much regarding restoration pricing).
  9. YOW! I can't believe people are restoring Bronze books! I guess it was bound to happen though with bronze being hot currently. I was just admiring that Ghosts # 28 when I saw the PLOD. I'd like to hear the resto notes also, bum deal!
  10. Quit "P u - s -s y - footin' " around, Jayman, what's the real answer!!?? That is the answer, my man! And "Pussyfootin' Around" is a great song by one of my favorite bands, Gomez!
  11. I will answer this question: Who is the Sphinx! I am Ken Jennings.
  12. Yeah no kidding! I have some later issues with heros; the Sub-Mariner vs Torch and the FF vs Mad Thinker and also the Fin Fang Foom issue but that's been posted before. I picked these up in the early 80's at a flea market. They were my third choice, no.1 being a beautiful copy of Famous Monsters # 13 for $100 that I really wanted but couldn't afford, no.2 a copy of Famous Monsters # 2 for $50 but had a coupon clipped so I couldn't do it, then no.3 a longbox full of old beat up Marvels. Believe me beat up, I at least picked out ones that had whole covers attached!
  13. Last one but waddya know? My 1,000th Post!
  14. This cover was always a favorite! Plus That "Do Not Panic" story IS a classic!
  15. Can I bring my beaters in to play too? I bought these really cheap when I was younger and didn't care about condition (as if you couldn't tell) but I do so love those monsters and wanted to contribute to this wonderful thread!
  16. Ze, Could you post a larger scan of your avatar or link to it. Would like to see that Adams gargoyle! BTW I too remember the HOS 175 story as being one of my first "Gargoyle Encounters"!
  17. ...and look here kids, that red overspray of distributers ink is really the printers blood! Woooo, scary!
  18. It was funny with over-the-top stuff like a full brain being blown out the back of a characters head when shot. I picked them up on ebay for cheap 'cause the covers had that EC look! Aztecs too! There are a lot of great talent in those issues, Frazetta, Bissette, Eisner...I would also like to find the first (underground) series!
  19. Honorable mention here goes to Essential Vertigo for reprinting some great stories and art in black and white! If you ever passed on these issues before, pick one up and see what you are missing artwise! There has been a lot of comments on how much more detail is seen over in the Original Art threads on the covers and panels posted there when viewed without color added.
  20. Just added some books to the ole longboxes and I always like to post some oldies I come across as well as the new additions. That book is cool Dice, I assume it was a play on words from the Killing Joke?
  21. The best thing about this title is the host of talent packed in the issues as listed along the top!
