  1. I've got a whole lot of hstory about "Paul". I bought a whole lot of his comics from the guy that got them from his estate. We talked at length about him. He was a pretty weird "horder" type. In addition to comics he had extensive collections of Magazines, pulps, fanzines and more books than a library. The collection once filled 5 storage lockers and a garage. I've told the story a few times back in the Have a cigar thread. I probably should re-tell what I know here if you guys want me to. This would not be a "pedigree" collection recognized by CGC. Not enough high grade runs of titles. Nor, did the buyer of the collection keep a list. It is, however, a very large and incredible "collection" just not "pedigree" worthy.

I would like to know the story, and despite the fact that CGC would not recognize it, Matt Nelson has almost every known pedigree type collection listed on his website (CGC recognized or not), so I think he might add Paul's to the group. Have you seen the Comic Book Pedigrees website?

    Cool comics. :applause:

Regarding the adult ticket prices: 33 cents plus 7 cents tax!!!

Sales tax was 20% back then?

Used to be a 20% federal excise tax on movie theater proceeds. I believe it was repealed in the 50's.

Wow, you learn something new everyday...thanks for sharing.

  3.

Thanks Brian. Yeah that's the Dennis issue I was thinking about. Now, I gotta get a copy. Should be easy and cheap you say? These are the kind of books I seem to go nuts finding...

I might have a duplicate of that one...yep, I do...here it is, let the bidding begin...

  4. We have been seen together at Terry's California show in Yorba Linda, but no one knew who we were. We're secretive like that...

Careful, don't start any rumors. By the way, Hap Hazzard was there too. We all love the "weird" comics.

Yeah, I saw Hap there, but i did not reveal my true identity...in fact, I did not even talk to him, I just listened as he BS'd with a customer. We all need to keep low profiles or people will start following us around looking for deals.... (thumbs u

PS- jlee was there too...incognito...with his son, also incognito... lol

  5. Robotman, How much history do we know about Paul? Did anyone get his story? I think if we can dig up a little background and put it together we might be able to make this one of those fringe pedigree collections and add Paul books to the Pedigree website if Matt approves it.

  6. Sorry I'm late to this shindig. Just saw this post (I been gone). I'm almost embarrassed to show my 3 little Paul books...but they are in nice shape for being Paul's, so here they are. I doubt I will become as fanatical about "Paul's" as RM or that Mr Spock guy, but they are kinda cool, and for a pedigree collection, it's nice that they all were sold to me for less than guide. This might be the pedigree that goes for fractions of guide, rather than multiples... lol

  7. Checking wikipedia for ride dates, I see that this has to be from after 1967. It could be from the early 70s. The Pack mules were replaced by Big Thunder Mtn railroad in 1973. It is part of a bunch of tickets that were saved by my grandmother.
