  1. Yeah, I found out when I bought that issue of Superman 19 (at Collectors Bookshop in Hollywood) in 1967 that it contained TWO of the stories reprinted in that giant #183. Later that day I found the first Mxyztplk story in Supe #30 at Cherokee. However, the only way I would want to go back to those days is if I knew what I know now, otherwise it would just be a repeat of the same events...
  2. I'm severely outclassed here...but I found these on my coffee table today: Five of them I got for less than $10 each...it stinks to be old...
  3. Nice job on the Tecs... Here's my 2nd favorite Superman cover
  4. As an author myself, I know a little bit about time frames and how tough it is to juggle several projects and other work at the same time. An author has to write something every day, or the book will never get finished. If this is Matt's first book, he may not know that rule. MATT...write something EVERY DAY (even if it's for only 10 minutes) and the book will magically get done...
  5. Funny, that issue is on page 1 of this old thread. Yeah, I saw that one, but figured you'd want to see another...
  6. Thanks, I know...I was trying to be funny...
  7. I don't have a lot of Fiction House books, but is THIS a good one?
  8. Flex: Thanks, now I had to add another book to my want list...
  9. Yeah, but they should have also told them to wear foil hats so aliens couldn't read their thoughts... Ya know, I didn't even know it was aimed at schools until I started this thread...so ya learn something new everyday. I always wondered why it had no price on it.
  10. I don't think the public was fully aware of the radiation problem or the range of a nuke in those days...or maybe the artist wasn't, but that's what makes it such a great oddball cover...you'll notice in that video that they never mention radiation...just the blast and heat...those kids under their desks would have been toast.
  11. In their defense, the atom bomb was a really big concern in those days, and school kids were taught to "duck and cover" in case of an atomic attack...so yeah, I can easily see that choice being a good one to get the schools attention...no matter how unrealistic the cover was.
  12. So...we're looking at bears, chickens and romance covers...fine...here's one of mine: and another...
  13. Thanks. I never knew (until last night) that there was an outer cover...
  14. Anyone else want to join my club? I know there are others out there, even ones with the wraparound outer cover...I seen 'em...GLORY!
  15. He assured me in an e-mail a few days ago that the book will get done. He's just been swamped...
  16. Welcome Monsoon... someone will probably like that book because it has red on it...
  17. The guide price on this book has just exploded in the last few years...so when I saw a low grade copy in an obscure comic shop last year for $40 I bought it. Now I have two also... These spaces below FOR RENT-CHEAP!
  18. Well, that was fun...I just read that whole Leatherneck Jack story on Comic Book +...
  19. Are all those books in your sig line yours? If so, you're as varied in your tastes as I am, except for modern books...
