  1. I thought that was it, but the "I" on the end confused me. Here's the website, but it hasn't been updated since 2003...someone told me Roter got in trouble over something...don't know if that is true and i don't want to spread a rumor if it isn't...maybe they were just referring to the BS way he treated collectors when they wanted to buy from him. There's a whole thread on him and he doesn't sound like Mr. Nice Guy... I bought a couple books from him in the early 90s. Graded very well...and they were priced right...guess things changed... http://www.pcei.com/index.asp
  2. I have a cover to WDC&S #23 coverless Archie #20 (which I can't seem to find right now) and a coverless Sad Sack #24 I know, I know...whoopie pah-ding...
  3. Sorry to interrupt the auction news, but I finally found a genuine Okajima in my collection, so add this to your list of post '44s. Purchased from Ron Murray in 1998: Wow, now I'm in the club...
  4. This thread seems to be for more classic covers, but, hey...it has a gorilla...
  5. So, around a VG price...OK, thank you. I just wondered. I have no intention of selling it, but someone was interested a few days ago and it made me wonder.
  6. Dear gator: What does a moderately professionally restored Detective 39 in ap VF/VF+ go for? Percentage of guide wise?
  7. What does a moderately professionally restored Detective 39 in ap VF/VF+ go for? 50% of guide?
  8. Nice one. Seems like a relatively common issue. St Johns are funny in that you see a lot of copies of some issues and almost never see others. I guess it may have been due to their spotty distribution and maybe a warehouse find or two. I've noticed that too, especially in the Teen-age romances run and Wartime romances - issues 6, 10, 12, and 14 always show up...
  9. Outstanding! What part of AZ are you in? I live in the North Scottsdale area Tempe.
  10. If you guys that have Pedigree books haven't done so yet, I would encourage you to upload your scans to Matt Nelson's pedigree site: http://www.comicbookpedigrees.com/index.php All the new arrivals on that page are mine, BTW... Let's get all the pedigree books on there...
  11. Just got this today...the "D" copy...this completes my "run"...
  12. Thanks, nice to be here. Harvey: My sig line should return on the 28th when my bandwidth reboots...if the pics do not appear then I will replace them from tinypic. My problem was putting up too many pics in the Gold forum @ 1MB ea. and my cheap attitude toward purchasing bandwidth...
  13. OK, I'll play. Please add mine to the raw list...bought in 1979 as a VG. Cost- $150
  14. That's a really neat story and set of books Marty. I enjoyed looking at them, although i didn't have time to peruse every page. It's nice to see posts by those who actually bought the comics as kids and kept them. I'm a Boomer, so my buying didn't start until the 60s, but I kept almost every one I purchased. Keep posting more...this is cool.
  15. About Tomorrow's Treasures...as a customer of Richard's for over 20 years I can recommend him to anyone , but you need to know a few things: He will pull the book for a second look before sale if you ask him to. He will re-evaluate the book over the phone with you. He will discount upon request, but the request must be made politely. Do NOT EVER tell him he is asking TOO much for a book. Politely state that you realize it is probably an over-guide book, but you cannot afford to pay that much. Ask if he can negotiate on the price. He will...9 times out of 10. Once you are negotiating, be polite and try to get the book at your level of spending. He will only go so far, but does not mind if you are polite. If you are not polite, and tell him what you think in a demanding tone, he will ban you forever...and never tell you why...that's just how he is. He doesn't have time for people that can't be respectful and polite. He will even joke about how you are beating him up over the price , but that's just part of the game...ever bought a car? He will also tell you a lot about comics. He likes to talk. You might need to change the subject if you want to get back to the sale if you ask the wrong question...he is very thorough in his answers. I called him yesterday to give him a want list and ask a couple questions...I wasn't looking to buy anything at the moment, but we still talked for over a half hour.
