  1. Does he really need to be anatomically correct? I believe that was bronzebruce's touch...
  2. I wonder if making and wearing a T-shirt with this on it would get me into some legal problems over creator rights:
  3. Gene - try this theory on for size: Back then, the Marvel statement numbers were artificially inflated by the publisher to defraud the USPS in order to qualify for a better tier discount when shipping in volume. Today, we have task forces now devoted to studying the habits/production of bulk mailers and Pitney bowes postage meter users in order to prevent this sort of fraud from occurring and cheating the Postal Service of the revenue its due. This is a large obstacle to allowing that type of fraud to be perpetrated again. So it is possible that there are not so many books out there as we want to think...
  4. Another thing to consider is that out of 1,177 copies, I would guess that a FEW of those 1,177 have been resubmitted (for example: a 9.0 resubmitted and graded 9.2, the census could show 2 copies where there are 1). Not necessarily. If the sour grapes submitter did the right thing when resubmitting and return the whole book complete with label for discount and proper tracking purposes, then CGC will amend the census stats to reflect the resubmission.
  5. Hartnet might work only because he has the square jaw thing And he already did an "audition" Superman-esque flying scene in "40 Days and 40 Nights".....and pulled it off quite well!
  6. I'm breaking out the solution and ironing board as we type! Goodbye foxing!
  7. I wouldn't pay $20 for that cleaned & pressed POS. Nice comment BOC - I'm in total agreement. I got bagged on for saying I wouldn't pay $5 for it in another thread. Just not worth it, IMO. I advised that if ablue wanted to get what he felt the Rockford Batman # 3 was worth in his opinion, break it out of the slab and sell it with Undisclosed restoration since he is adamant that CGC is wrong. Other sellers have done it before and though I find it totally unethical and would never do it myself, ablue is free to do as he wishes if he wants to live with the consequences of such an action!
  8. still believe that best way to collect is buy a wizard and go with the top 10 every month. Or pick up the Wizard - turn to the collecting guide at the end of the price guide part and see what they got...sometimes they list all the issues a certain artist/writer has imparted creative talent on... collect that way....
  9. You can tell what kind of forums I usually like to cruise, by my posts on this one!
  10. Welcome to the forum, Lucy! I too like to crank up Perry Como's "Hot Diggity", while kicking back and reading my Cherry Poptarts (not really 50s Archies, but definitely in the Archie vein of comics)...
  11. I've got a Fast Willie Jackson 2 and 3 in mid-grade, if you're interested. I've just got a "Fast Willie" period, so my wife tells me to her utmost dismay
  12. USM 1white variant... because USM is the answer to all!!!
  13. Jan and Zana....Jan's problem was that he should have transformed every time into Iceman but unfortunately Marvel would have sued the pants off of them... With Zana, bestiality issues could arise...wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole (or elephant's p=n!s, what have you)
  14. Wasn't what I would call in the same vein as Darth's auctions poking fun at Comicinvestor. which reminds me I have more "ladies" up for sale? Maybe I can goad CI into bidding on some Bronze Age beauties, eh???
  15. Here is an auction with Darth and Greggy's names written all over it Only if it's first print Cherry Poptart comics...I'm there!
  16. "Cheap Shoddy Robot Toys" Yeah dude, they took it and ran with it back inthe 80s as "GO-Bots!" Best get your chunk of the royalties...
  17. The thing is, it would be cool for comic book fans, but for the average moviegoer ... I think you'll hit all audiences if you crossed over with the ladies of Top Cow! Worship the Cow!!! MOO! Before CGC, I used to peddle these books and I still have plenty to put out there if I ever found the time. Darkness is definitely a comic to movie potential and I wish they had picked someone a bit hotter, and closer to Michael Turner's visual depiction of the Witchblade, instead of a "manly" actress, who can act, but doesn't look the part... Denise Richards comes to mind as my Witchblade....Eliza Dusku or Jennifer Love Hewitt as Fathom/Tombraider as well!
  18. It would have to grade at 9.4 to recoup that at least on the 181...same thoughts on the ASM 300. At the con folks were saying ASM 300 at CGC 9.4 you could get guide or will trade for the $70-$75...I definitely used the trade value. I believe ebay with the high supply, may knock this down to $50???
  19. Now I'm guaranteed a CGC apparent VF 8.0...AMEN!
  20. Phil - I'm holding your ALF Holiday Special hostage, along with any feedback associated with it! Oh yes, it is a rare ALF collector's item, popular with the wives and with the upcoming return of ALF to 20 cent per minute long distance company commercials, the movement of ALF comic prices have gone through the roof! Get your rare and pristine copy from me while it's still available and before your wife finds out you've passed up this gem!
  21. At our local con there were 2 that I saw: one for $775 and the other for $700. Looking at both the $700 was, in my estimation, not worth the tag. The $775 copy, which I traded for, was a very nice copy. My question for you is...were these copies overpriced or did you feel that in a CGC slab, they would grade high enough to warrant that? Graham Crackers is a big dealer of comics online and has I assume a big presence in the Midwest? I'd think/hope that they were on the nose with their grading/pricing.
  22. I'm taking your Jungle Action for a little "reading in the can" action before I send them out to you
  23. Scottish - on a side note and in a feeble attempt to hijack this thread - I wheeled and dealed for a nice FN/VF??? copy of Hulk 181 this past Sunday. I need your blessing and it's off to CGC it goes. I've come to see you now as the CGC Patron Saint of Hulk 181s (or lost causes..but that's neither here nor there )
