  1. I am by no means promoting my sales with this post as I know most of the readers of this thread already have this book. however, please read the messages from other members at the bottom of the auction and feel free to give me your opinions and maybe if all is said and done, I need to spend more time in the PGM threads KCO 207 - overgraded? Should it be a VG+? I value the opinions of my fellow members here and will abide by the majority's call...and, as in true forum fashion, let the slamming begin! ...morituri te salutamus...
  2. ah yes...the skipper auctions...let's just say I was spot on about the pics. He had already worked out a deal off ebay with someone else, but unfortunately re-used the pics and replaced the 35 cent variants with 30 cent variants. It was about $125 spent on $15 worth of books. He did offer to let me out or work something out, but, because I jumped the gun not wanting to miss out, dropping the hammer before my questions were answered, I was about to leave for vacation and didn't really want to deal with it and possible negative reprecussions. I figure I can line my packages from future auction sales with the stuff. I would love to have a full list of what 35 cent variants were in his auctions. The only ones I didn't spot were the cartoons.
  3. Thanks Harry! for some reason I remember the first one KC220 coming from Lighthouse? Did that end up with Glenn Malloy? I definitely lucked out here.
  4. Been on ebay since 1998, chasing variants since November of 2002, and after a lot of stalking, false leads, badly pictured lots taken gambled on and lost, here is my first hidden Western 35 center won:
  5. I'd pay big money for an 25 cent priced copy of this issue
  6. I think the Registry can only be updated with re: to missing issues in the 35 cent variant set, once an extant copy is certified. I remeber that being the case when I was asking for MDF 17 to be included in the 30 cent registry list.
  7. great to see this topic still up and running!
  8. this thread is working out as planned  Multiple answers, multiple followup questions, who's right  ps great follow up questions so far...
  9. Congrats to you guys picking up the sweet ones off ebay - there were a couple of top census in there that I just didn't have the time or $$$ to track or pick up. Zilla keeps talking about 100s of 30 cent variants coming up but  and WTF is this: Kid colt 219 variant or not
  10. IMO, because most people make decisions to buy, in a vacuum, excluding any and all history of transactions with that particular seller, save that of the buyer's personal dealings. (or vice versa) Most folks will tend to rationalize and justify in order to take advantage of a good deal. How many times do you see legit folks bid on/win the fraud scam auctions up on ebay? "If it looks too good to be true, then I'm one lucky for being the only one to stumble across this and should seal the deal before anyone else gets a chance to beat me to it" Or some folks may have full knowledge of current events/debts to other sellers but tell themselves, "I've been trying to dump this junk for ages with no interest. Finally someone puts up an Screw October, I'm gonna get mine." as long as a person hasn't screwed with you, the natural tendency is to proceed with what is in your best interest. I'm not saying this is right, nor is it the way I operate or would like to be treated, because I do beleive in some code of honor among fellow trusted board members. Just my
  11. there is the CGC 9.4 x-men 100 variant currrently up on ebay stores with a ~ $1800 BIN or best offer right now and a hidden "4" variant as well (a tad marked up, however) Happy hunting
  12. Welcome and thanks again. BTW the 3 you won just got sent out priority this morning with a bonus... If you are not picky about condition, you should be able to network with many on this board and STL forums to acquire what you need. There are plenty of offerings up on ebay of the more common ones. From time to time, certain dealers come across collections with plenty of variants and unload. However, there are usually bidding wars that occur over the harder to find ones among the same collectors, who are trying to upgrade, or acquire trading fodder with other collectors for their hard to find duplicate copies.
  13. Overdue kudos goes out to some wonderful forumites: Lance (herc2000) has worked out a seweet deal for my favorite books. I picked up several 30 cent price variants from his forum Only thread recently and he worked in several more. On top of that he picked up the majority of the cost of shipping from the UK. A very nice guy to deal with and was on top of all communications. The raw books were in the grades advertised and are a welcome addition to my growing collection. Sean (seanh) was nice enough to help me keep my 30 cent variant registry on top by contributing his high grade Avengers copies to my set, along with several very HG unslabbed copies that I'm considering using to replace some of my "lower" graded copies on the registry currently. He sent his books almost overnight as soon as he had my address, trusting that I would reciprocate with my trade books as well. unfortunately, I had family health issues to deal with and that kept me from attending to my end of the bargain for a while. I have the package still with me, ready to go, as I type. I thank him for his patience and understanding. Once again another great forumite that I trust implicitly in working with and whose eye for grading unslabbed copies is spot on and on par with some of the best out there. Some of the best deals for my collection have been made right here on the boards and I will continue to seek out material here first
  14. great recall, terry! It was an mf4 cgc 9.4 from lighthouse! outer cover 9.2, inner cover 9.4 - don't know if both covers were variants, obviously, the outside is definitely a thing of beauty... http://darthdiesel.com/30centvariants/mf4varcgc942xcvr.jpg
  15. btw - just read that thread by JC - awesome! You know I came across it cyberstalking the latest variant sales on ebay and checking to see if the usual suspects had found any hiddens on my watch FRANK!!!!
  16. thanks guys - this is what I get for not checking in more often and doing a search either
  17. What the heck is this? Fake SW 1 var or real? If that is real then what the heck have I been paying crazy prices for? Don't want to disparage, buyer nor seller, but I'm calling on some variant experts here to back me. check the price. My SW 1 vars don't have the same font. LMK if the scan goes. I saved it on my hard drive.
  18. Latest batch of kudos for forumites I have bought from: Shiverbones - nice Xmen's - turns out I didn't have the 377 variant Buck Biggins - Binky's Buddies 1 is sweet and graded well! My new top copy Mikeyriffhard - thanks for the Morrison Batmans - on my way to catching up on my modern Bats reading moonlite - one huge modern purchase of great books; it was like receiving my old DCBS packages, but this one was much cheaper!!!
  19. - MISLABELLED! Is this a recent grading? If this is a 30 cent variant, then I've got some high grade Inhumans 5, Invaders 8, Kazar 16, and MSH 59's to submit too
