  2. Attended with kpaqu1 on Sunday. Seemed less crowded than last year, but that was a plus in my mind! Was able to get 2 live sketches from Barry Kitson and Tom Grummett, plus prelims from Greg Hildebrandt and Barry Kitson. Still my go to Big Con for New England! The free parking, reasonable ticket price, creator guests, and choice of food options and slots from the casino make it outstanding!

Foes anyone know if Jim Starlin does sketches at shows?  If so what does he charge?  He has a FB page but no website.  Thanks

Starlin does not do any art anymore, not commissions or any production art, due to a home soda maker exploding and putting a hole in his hand, as he put it. It's too bad too since he was working on a new Dreadstar series, that now will not happen. I saw him at a Con last year, I never thought to ask for a remark due to the long line. He was charging $10 per signature, and had maybe a dozen prints that were $20 signed. I'm happy I got the below remark about 9 years ago. He had absolutely no line then, and signatures were free! We talked a few minutes, then on the last book I asked if he could do his doodle. He did it after he signed, which he said his signature is usually the chin, so I may have a rarer doodle!

The last couple years I've thought the guest list here was vastly superior to any of the other New England shows. People here I've never seen at other area shows before. This is two years in a row I've skipped Boston to go to Terifficon instead. As long as they keep getting guests of this caliber, I will keep going!

Same here. Plus cheaper tickets, free parking, and yes the superior guest list has made this my go to BIG con for Southern New England. It's been run well the times I've attended which is a HUGH plus over the other large area cons. Plus the casino aspects (gambling, shops, eating) makes it a great destination.

  5. Looks like IDW is in fact rebooting the universe.

I'm both sad and interested at this news. I like that this universe has lasted as long, and as many issues, as it has, but I feel that there is way too much to remember with the number of series and one-shots. Hopefully the new universe will be a little more concise and streamlined. Maybe one on-going series (monthly or possible bi-monthly when able) with a couple one-shots or a mini-series in a year? Basically an easy to understand reading order would help too. No crazy time jumps across different series and one-shots.

  7. Yeah, overall I'd say the DW stuff was not good. At the time I was all kinds of happy for a new TF series, as the Marvel one was what I grew up with, and started my comic collection!

I seem to remember DW saying that their series were to fill in the gaps from the old cartoon season 2 and the movie, buy the 1st mini blew that out of the water as the supposedly killed off Wheeljack and the Aerialbots, if I remember correctly.

I ended up really liking the Armada/Energon series a lot! That was probably the only one I missed after they went under.

  10. Jam sketches/commissions are great! I like what Yoshi said about contacting the artists before the con. I'll add if you have any rudimentary art skills, rough out what you'd like before hand, that way the artist has a solid idea what you want, and not try to understand what you want. I started a jam to recreate the scene of the deactivated Autobots from the classic Marvel Transformers #5. Worked out well until I had Jose Delbo add to it. It was either a language or concept issue that lead to Huffer not being in line with the rest (Not to mention the horrible round, not square truck cab/hood)
