  1. I never rally saw the F@#$ you on this book. It looks more fsher to me. More like a Rorschach test, you see what you want to see. Maybe this is a 'prototype' for the Watchmen discussion here in case you need to remember it like I did.
  2. you can really feel all ....... the throbbing excitement -- of a big city hospital
  3. tried google but couldn't figure it out-- what is a "Circle 8"?
  4. this is not comics related but I thought it might lighten the mood perhaps--- noticed this offer while searching for other things that were nothing like it. Anyway-- I reported this ad and blocked this fool simply to avoid them already and encourage you do the same just in case they get the comic buying bug. http://www.ebay.com/itm/my-virginity-/221827272502?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33a5ef8f36
  5. I wouldn't say we aren't interested in the item (pic of Lincoln) -- we are just doing the normal "poking fun" routine.
  6. I sort of remember something similar being on one of the reality shows- probably American Picker or Pawn Stars -- and the items were not original but copies made back in the late 19th century. They had value but were not crazy high dollar. Do some internet research-- you probably will find the information you need. ps-- it is cool but I would caution against getting too excited yet
  7. Tag sale is inside the home with the contents priced, usually run by a professional company. Very big here on Long Island. ok thanks -- more or less an estate sale except it sounds like it is it first come, open house more or less.
  8. what is a tag sale? is that the same as yard/garage sale but with a foreign slang? never heard the term before
  9. and how do expect to do this exactly? buyers can no longer receive negative feedback
  10. I am intrigued -- what books are in that offer? link perhaps?
  11. I whole heartedly agree with this post. I've never given this thread much mind and think it just breeds negativity on the boards. I believe Sharon also made a really solid post about how it was just a negative thread. Use the eBay feedback system. First of all -- I don't think you are thinking about how to use this thread correctly. If you simply use it as a way to look at current comic book buyers on eBay -- so that you can judge for yourself with a little bit of research-- you can use it to avoid dealing with some real clown buyers out there. If you find someone is overly harsh on their "block this guy" argument-- you don't have to block them. Secondly- if you just rely on eBay feedback, you are not zeroing in on the comic book buying market or the behavior of those buyers themselves. Maybe this person is great at purchasing clothes or shoes but is a complete clown when it comes to comic books. Also-- this threads allows sellers on eBay to be proactive towards people they have not yet come across. We have found numerous times where the same buyer has boned several of us on eBay deals and spreading the word on them allows those who have not been harmed to avoid them. You can take the thread for what it is worth-- sometimes a way to vent frustration over a sale, sometimes a warning system to watch out for so and so buyer/seller, and other times general eBay selling advice. It does not require someone to administer it - those of us who keep up with it regularly use it to add new people to our block list (or not to) all the time.
  12. I don't take offense at them. Sometimes people throw a bid of what they can afford or a bit under that to test the waters. You can always throw back a counter offer to show them you have a much higher value on the item. Typically I find that stops them from sending another low ball. Sometimes though-- I just ignore it and hit decline. It can be a bit annoying if they are offering some crazy low number and trying to ask for more stuff or special treatment on the shipping on top of that. Those people are typically trouble makers and I will block them if it sounds like they are trying to screw with me. I guess that is taking offense. Or perhaps defense.
  13. I seem to recall that with the split of eBay and Paypal companies that a new method of handling funds was set to take effect around June. It basically froze funds during a dispute and was to handled solely by PayPal. I could be wrong about this but that sounds like what may have happened here. I think if you enact a return - whether you talked/agreed with the seller before hand -- it sets a rigid set of refunding of monies in motion. It is far more proactive for the buyer getting a refund and somewhat ignores that the seller has not gotten their stuff back. I went through this myself a short while ago. The seller acted as if I had ripped them off. I simply wanted to know where to send them the stuff and how to track it so that it shows in the system I did exactly that. Sadly-- unless the seller approves paying for the return shipping-- the only other action is to simply give a refund. It is silly really-- and I can see sellers getting screwed left and right from it. Not that this is the case here (or in my case)-- but heaven help us once the scam artists catch on that this is the new method. And in my case it it went down like this: 1) tried to contact seller about the situation-- no response 2) enacted a return 2 days later, still no seller communication 3) get an email saying the seller has refunded my the money and the return was complete (it wasn't-- I still had the item) 4) could not find ANYTHING on eBay on how to handle this-- either printing a label or tracking the return-- as far as they were concerned the matter was completed. 5) contact the seller on my own to see if they know how to handle this-- they act like I am angling for them to pay return shipping (not the case) but tell me to mail it their address. 6) now the item is shown as complete, delivered, but that I haven't paid for it along with a "return completed" note So the item is en route to returned right now-- but I have no way of showing this on eBay. I also cannot give the seller positive feedback or vice versa. How is this a better method exactly? It seems like they broke something that was working before.
  14. Ebay limits the amount of offers to 3 from each bidder. So even if one person uses up all 3 of their offers, anybody else can still make offers on that item. And the person who used up all of their offers can still hit the Buy It Now to get that same item. (thumbs u
  15. doesn't eBay limit how many offers you can receive on a listed item as well-- at three offers? What happens after that-- can no one make an offer on your item. oh-- and as for DonMeca2020 -- don't think for a minute that he "now understands" anything. It has been several months but this is the same person who dared us to Google him and was a general PITA on this and several other threads before. He was not much fun to deal with.
  16. Discussion cool-- thanks for the link too
  17. Is this real? anyone know what issue?
  18. based on those responses, I am going to ponder the idea but most likely not venture too deeply into the tall grass of PHM. I will stick to areas I am a little more familiar with and that don't crush my budget. Maybe it will cool down in the future but it appears I am about 10-15 years too late to be thinking about getting into PHM collecting. Thanks for the advice-- it certainly helped me make my decision to reconsider on this idea. I do love reading this thread though.
  19. does anyone ever use the back to get a signature? In a CGC case, it would still be easy to see and would not take anything away from the front cover.
