  1. Thread winning phrase right here! Good reading material right there! he's probably having two
  2. or, you know--- not waste any time and just ignore them
  3. the point of them is they could be used by retailers near the register and seemed like you were getting a bargain (not always the case). So my take is they were packaged for impulse buying. I bought a few early on when I first started and having some issues that were somewhat behind the current selection was a bonus to me. I get what you are saying in that after that early foray into the multi-packs-- I was buying books from the racks. Maybe that was the design - open up new markets-- like KMart and grocery stores that normally didn't want to deal with individual books.
  4. tell them you are blocking them until they return the book you gave the refund for--- maybe they might just send it to you and then you can keep blocking them. Couldn't hurt to try...
  5. I agree that the best course of action is to read the whole thread and make your own determinations on who deserves to be avoided. Kind of a time waster but at least you know why you are thwarting someone that way. another option would be to ask someone whose judgement you trust to PM you their list. I agree that we shouldn't just share block lists publicly though if you go back something like 10 pages or so-- you might find some doing that.
  6. well I just got a comic from an somewhat established seller (wild_rhino_comics) and it came with zero cardboard. Just a bag, board and floating around in a bubble mailer. Didn't even put "please do not bend" or anything on it. Somehow it got to me without damage. It was one of those guys who uses "free shipping" in auctions. time to give them some feedback. Think I will just say "thanks" and move along.
  7. it would have been kind of neat if it were a tramp marvel value stamp
  8. regular on Comic book men? Has he been on there more than once or twice? I can only think of one time.
  9. just tired of seeing that dumb thread title being repeated....
  10. I haven't seen the entire issue but that leg makes me think of The Destroyer
  11. picked up my first 30 cent price variant - a book I needed for my Daredevil collection (don't even have the 25 cent version) but I stumbled upon it in eBay and only one guy had bid on it with not much time left. It was not labelled as a price variant (or had much to say about the book at all). The people selling it had no idea how to pack a comic * but it made it to me about as well as I imagined it condition wise. have it over in the PGM section too if you want to weigh in..... PGM DD 132 * no cardboard sandwich, not taped together as a block, just flopping around inside the flat rate envelope along with one other comic book I bought --- with a couple of notes scribbled on both sides asking to not bend the package. Miracle it made it without issue, helped that it only had to go from Colorado to AZ. Took a chance with the seller realizing they mainly sold coins (could not find a single feedback that was comic book related). It would not have cost them anything more to add a bunch of cardboard-- really pretty silly. I will give positive feedback but not them for poor shipping of comics.
  12. I rescued my copy of FP1 from a non collector and low FB eBayer. Got it for about 23 bucks and it would grade out around a 5.0 probably. I have not been fortunate enough to find a reasonably priced Jimmy Olsen 134 or 135 but did pick up a mid grade 136 for 5 bucks. I have cooled my jets on the whole fourth world stuff as I have all the Kirby related FP, NG, MM, Kamandi, Omac, and a couple of Demons. Just can't justify the prices for the 134 for my collection. Would love to have it but not willing to pony up the kind of money it is getting. I really only picked up the JO 136 because I liked the hulk like JO cover and I had a few other books I was getting from that buyer so it lowered the cost by combined shipping.
  13. Oh dear lord did we really need another post for this?
  14. Can you elaborate on exactly what the problem was? I agree-- we need more information than simply they were a "hassle" -- so we can make our own call on the block and also for entertainment purposes as some of these stories can be kind of interesting.
  15. I had an Amazon customer claim that the magazine I sent was not in the package and instead a photo copy of the first few pages were inside the priority mail package. The package did seem to go into a state of limbo for 4 days (from Phoenix to Texas) where I saw no update on the tracking which is pretty strange for priority mail. I called the USPS helpline to open a item search and a few hours later it suddenly starting having tracking information from the branch this person lived near. Not much I could do about it-- had to refund them and move on. But as it was insured, I went ahead and put in a claim a week or so later. I was shocked at how fast they processed the claim. I got my check in the mail today after only submitting the claim on August 27th. Very happy to see that I didn't get burned after hearing so many people complain on here about being denied claims on lost items. Could have been that the claim was only for 12.50. Or that I included a picture of the item and a snapshot of the invoice showing the refund to the customer.
  16. still pretty awesome -- did it come with a significant premium attached? I am always hoping to stumble across a Kirby sig on a splash page of a book I buy. I know it happens occasionally. About the closest I came to a "surprise inside" (to use an old Cracker Jacks term) was finding a Bubbalicious insert that I never knew existed. That was more interesting than exciting.
  17. Cool! Was it known before you bought it or a surprise you found after the sale? If it was from looking at the book-- did the seller know it was in there?
  18. You can't acknowledge the person you're ignoring, even t let them know you're ignoring them. You're fired and i'm ignoring you from now on. THATS how ya do it! I have no idea what this thread is about because I started on page 40 something, but I like all the paranoia, confusion and general discontent i'm seeing. I don't feel so alone anymore. just some old guys playing with their toys err dolls err ACTION FIGURE
  19. it is definitely not the norm-- where we typically see the whole "I'm not a grading professional" -- this guy is claiming he worked at CGC for 4 years and IS a professional grader.
  20. The funny part of that post to me was that I knew who it was immediately. Why my brain can retain that type of information but let's me forget someones name that I just met confuses me.
