  1. will cgc be there until 430? im so bummed my wife has a bridal shower that she is helping to host that ends at 1 on sunday so i wont be able to make but the final hour or so of the show. was planning to bring a handful of books for slabbing. will definitely have some cash for buying! hopefully a nice ga book that suits my fancy will stick around til i get there.
  2. boy i tell ya given the recent sale if this were mine i would already have this on the way to an auction house for the next auction cycle!
  3. yeah picked it up on the boards a few weeks back. i was all lined up to make a run at (and win) the 33 in the heritage auction and then this popped up and i couldnt resist.
  4. Havent been around all that much lately. I too have a 35 recently added to the collection. boomcity that copy is quite fantastic! Had to make some tough decisions to make this happen but pre-robins rule the roost
  5. on the flip side the 2.0 sig series selling at $9200 seems like strong hammer. or is that pretty much the market price per point on ow/w low grades these days?
  6. ive submitted some silver books this year that look quite similar and they came back 3.0.
  7. when you think you've seen awesome there is a whole lot more awesome an inch away.
  8. i love how the purpose of the photo is to show the tecs and then there are just some random casual actions slipping in there. sums up bang zooms collection quite nicely.
  9. went last year but didnt really get to talking with anyone. it was a fantastic event and i wont miss it in 2017 or again! hopefully i can connect with some of you this time around. if anyone is interested in setting up a trade via the boards prior to the show to swap at the show let me know. would be happy to share my photobucket via pm and at least explore possibilities. i have some cool stuff (mainly 4 figure ga books) and seek classic covers and keys from the 40s.
  10. just my personal opinion but i would get the notes on that ww7 long before considering breaking it out of the slab to inspect. the book looks phenomenal in there and, for me, it would be a bummer to find something with the interior that brings the grade down without knowing about it first. congrats that was one auction that i imagine nearly all ga collectors were watching.
  11. boom love that cover. 30 and 32 are both really cool non-bat covers in the run imo.
  12. Thanks rainmaker. The front cover shows pretty well, apart from the one prominent tape stain. But that back cover is a bit of a mess; the tape residue looks like, well, blood. As if that knife on the front cover found its target. 'Tis pricey for all that... to be fair that scan is over-saturated. the book looks better in hand but its a rough copy for the grade. of course it is in the marketplace and these books certainly dont grow on trees.
  13. http://comiclink.com/itemdetail.asp?back=%2Fsearch%2Easp%3Fwhere%3Dsell%26title%3Ddetective%2Bcomics%26GO%3DGO%26ItemType%3DCB&id=1154001 this should link to it
  14. Yes the book structurally looked more vg+/F- but those stains were killer. I had it at around 9k to 10k current market value range and traded accordingly.
  15. at this point, without consideration of grade, are 14 and 17 the most desirable books in the run besides the first few?
  16. I know the fella said he was stoked about getting a ga bat book. Kinda sad to see it become overpriced sale fodder. It'll probably end up on ebay too at some point
  17. Not happy with your 37 ? If not for the tape stains, I'd take it in an instant. traded it for an af15. was really attached to that book but, well... onward and upward i suppose.
  18. Now that I officially have the new one in hand I can post the current iteration of my prerobin collection. gotta get them in a photo together one of these days. call them my lovely beverlys. frickin
  19. sweet book! this is one i have not seen before and that is why ga is so darn cool. new layers pop up all the time.
  20. i vaguely remember this thread from my earliest days on the boards. i suppose in some way your original posts had some impact on my collecting focus since then. glad to see this back and alive. kudos
  21. the book looks great in there as it is and the brittle pages appear quite comfortable in their current bed. leave them be. pre-robin collectors are smart enough to understand label notes and grades. if it ever went to auction i doubt the label color would change the hammer price all that much in this particular case.
